Objective:To investigate the effect of leaf aqueous extract from Gongronema latifolium(***)on CCl_(4)induced-oxidative stress in Wistar *** effect was assessed by measuring liver marker enzymes activity,analyzing the antioxidant parameters,lipid profile estimation and lipid peroxidation by-product following CCl_(4)induced-oxidative ***:Milled *** leaves were subjected to aqueous extraction and the filtrate was evaporated between 40-60°C under reduced pressure and a calculated volume of the leaf extract was administered at a dose of 500 mg/kg body ***-five rats were grouped into seven groups of 5 animals each namely;control and experimental *** experimental groups were treated with 2.0 mL/kg body weight CCl_(4),25 mg/kg body weight/day silymarin(a standard hepatoprotective antioxidant),500 mg/kg body weight aqueous extract of *** leaves were administered to the CCl_(4)treated rats for 21 ***:Administration of the extract and silymarin increase significantly(P<0.05)in liver marker enzyme(aspartate aminotransferase,alanine aminotransferase,alkaline phosphatase and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase)activities in serum,liver and kidney in the treated groups when compared with untreated *** antioxidant parameters(catalase,peroxidase and glutathione S-transferase)were significantly elevated(P<0.05)in animals treated with the extract and silymarin in comparison with untreated ***_(4)induced oxidative stress mediated variations in total cholesterol,triacylglycerides,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,low density lipoprotein cholesterol and very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol were restored significantly(P<0.05)by the ***:The result obtained from this study indicated the antioxidant and antidyslipidemic potentials of the aqueous extract of *** leaves.

Mosque layout desisn： An analytical study of mosque layouts in the early Ottoman period

This study attempts to quantify the influence of spatial configuration on the functional efficiency of mosque layouts in the early Ottoman period. The literature review consists of two parts. The first part is a theoretical study of the relationship between spatial configuration and functional efficiency of mosque layouts. This part highlights the key syntactical characteristics and effect of spatial configuration on the level of functional efficiency using space syntax theory. The second part is an analytical comparative description of the changes and transfor- mations in the configurations of mosque layouts. The architectural styles are classified into six types based on layout designs. The main benchmarks and indicators involved in measuring the functional efficiency of mosque layouts are analyzed using the A-graph 2009 software program, which provides numerical results. This analysis compares entire samples of mosque layout designs for each category. The numerical results indicate the effect of spatial configurations and the functions of mosque layouts. This study shows that mosques with courtyard layouts are accessible, efficient, and flexible in terms of function because of their distinct syntactical and morphological spatial structures.

Bioaccumulation of heavy metals in some tissues of croaker fish from oil spilled rivers of Niger Delta region,Nigeria

Objective:To investigate the level of heavy metals(Cu,Zn,Fe Mn Ni,Pb and Cd) in muscles,gills and liver tissue of Croaker fish from oil spilled rivers of Bonny and Finima,Niger Delta region,***:Twenty four Croacker fishes(Genyonemus lineatus) weighing between 250 and 260 g and 24–26 cm length were collected from each sampling sites(Bonny and finima rivers).The frozen fishes were thawed and dried at 105C until they reach a constant *** dried samples were homogenized and digested with 10 ml tri-acid mixture(HNO3:HCl O4:H2SO4),and then the digested samples were diluted to 100 ml with deionized *** metals(Cu,Ni,Zn,Pb,Mn,Iron Fe,and Cd) concentrations were determined by atomic absorption ***:Our results revealed that concentrations and distribution patterns of all heavy metals studied varied significantly(P < 0.05) amongst the fish tissues analyzed and sampling ***,liver tissue of fish caught from Finima creek accumulated the highest concentrations of Cu(52.64 ± 3.01 mg/g dry wt),Zn(166.50 ± 6.45 mg/g dry wt)and Fe(801.50 ± 14.15 mg/g dry wt) in comparison to the liver of fish caught from Bonny river in which the levels of Cu,Zn and Fe were(45.00 ± 2.79),(49.90 ± 2.91) and(216 ± 6.11 mg/g dry wt),*** addition,Mn,Ni,Pb and Cd exhibited their highest concentrations in gills from both *** expected,muscle tissue contained the least concentrations of all metals investigated from both sampling ***,all the metals investigated exhibited highest concentration in fish collected from Finima *** abnormal high level heavy metals accumulation observed in this location could be linked to the frequent crude oil spills as well as industrial activity around the area which might get discharged into Finima *** general,the mean concentrations of some toxic heavy metals investigated exceed the recommended maximum permissible limits set by the Joint FAO/WHO ***,some metals

Humans are daily exposed to free radicals from various sources causing degenerative diseases,but can be prevented by daily intake of natural *** orange is an underutilized anti-oxidants source which can help in curbing degenerative diseases,if its consumption is encouraged by masking its bitterness or sourness with a natural sweetening *** mixed fruits juices from various percentage of bitter orange and pineapple(0:100,25:75,50:50,75:25 and 100:0%)were produced using standard procedures,stored at ambient condition and analyzed monthly for a period of six *** physicochemical properties,antioxidant activities,sensory properties and microbial load were carried out using standard *** obtained were analyzed using *** pH,obrix,titratable acidity,vitamin C,total carotenoid,total antioxidant,DPPH,total phenolic,reducing power ranged from 2.43 to 4.34,10.66-15.40 obrix,0.08-0.86 mg/g,0.10-0.45 mg/g,0.03-0.98 mg/g,0.25-1.01 mg/g,14.95-91.28%,0.10-0.28 mg/g,0.11-1.64 mg/g *** colour,taste,aroma,mouth feel and overall acceptability varied from 6.53 to 7.63,4.42-8.16,6.21-7.47,4.63-7.89 and 5.21-7.89 *** percentage of mixing and length of storage had significant influenced on all the aforementioned parameters at 95%confidence *** sample having 25%of bitter orange and 75%pineapple was the most preferred by panelists,possessing high anti oxidants capacities and better keeping quality,while the quality of the product was acceptable up to 4 months without adding synthetic preservative at room temperature.

Ultraviolet(UV)filters are widely used in sunscreen and personal care products due to their ability to give protection to our skin from UV ***,commonly known as benzophenone-3,is one type of UV filter found as the active ingredient in many pharmaceutical *** oxybenzone has been extensively studied as an environmental toxicant in the ecosystem,little is known about its toxicity effects on *** effects of oxybenzone on growth(measured as OD620 nm,chlɑand carotenoids)and macromolecular composition of polar microalgae(Chlorella UMACC 400 and Chlorella UMACC 401)and temperate microalgae(Chlorella sp.,Chlamydomonas reinhardtii,Scenedesmus quadricauda)were *** microalgae were cultured in triplicate and exposed to different oxybenzone concentrations(0,100,200,300 and 400 mg·L-1),at 4℃and 18 for polar and temperate species respectively,for 96 *** oxybenzone concentrations used℃represent a range from environmental to extreme concentrations to understand the impact of this toxicant on *** results showed that the highest concentration of oxybenzone(300 and 400 mg·L-1)had adverse effects on growth rate and biomass of these ***,exposure to oxybenzone concentrations ranging from 200 mg·L-1 to 400 mg·L-1 did not have significant effects on *** *** exposure to oxybenzone at higher concentrations also led to changes in cell structure after 96 ***,protein and carbohydrate content of all microalgae except *** increased with increasing oxybenzone *** content increased significantly when cells were exposed to oxybenzone,though effects were greater in the polar species,suggesting that it could be one of the adaptive strategies that enabled these microalgae to tolerate *** investigation is required to determine the effects of oxybenzone on other features of microalgal performance at relevant environmental concentrations.

Background:The public knowledge and adherence to the established coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)precautionary measures are crucial to Nigeria’s war against the *** health education on its preventive practices at the grassroots level was initially crucial to achieving a lower COVID-19 incidence in Kwara State,***:We assessed the knowledge of,and adherence to COVID-19 precautionary measures at the community level among 795 respondents from the three senatorial zones of Kwara ***:54.5%(433/795)of the respondents were aged between 21 and 40 years,and 45.9%(365/795)of the respondents had a bachelor’s degree or *** participants had a good knowledge of COVID-19,its symptoms,and its mode of transmission.91.8%of the respondents(730/795)had a positive perception of the COVID19 preventive measures while 96.1%(763/795)of the respondents agreed that maintaining social distance was important in curbing the COVID-19 ***,only 38%(302/795)of them used face masks and only 25.7%(204/795)of the respondents used hand *** addition,only 31.9%(253/795)of the respondents isolated themselves when they were ***-variable logistic regression analysis revealed that education,occupation,gender,and ethnicity were significantly associated with positive COVID-19 preventive practices among residents of Kwara *** servants were more likely(AOR:3.14;95%confidence interval[CI]:0.67 to 14.82;P=0.034)to have positive preventive attitudes than other *** participants with tertiary education and those that were Yoruba(ethnicity)were 14.81 times more likely(95%CI:4.29 to 51.05;P=0.001)and 5.19 times more likely(95%CI:1.82 to 14.84;P=0.007)to have positive attitudes towards the laid-down COVID-19 preventive measures ***:The poor community adherence to the COVID-19 preventive practices could pre-dispose Kwara to more COVID-19 *** community engagement activities are needed to fully curb the

Heavy Metal Profile of Oreochromis niloticus Harvested from E-Waste Polluted Vials and Associated Fungi

This study was designed to investigate the possible variation in bioaccumulation of heavy metals (lead, cadmium, zinc, cobalt, chromium, nickel, and manganese) in the tissue of harvested Oreochromis niloticus (tilapia) and the associated fungi from vials treated with soil from e-waste dumpsite and soil without e-waste. E-waste is electronic waste which contains valuable metals as well as potential environmental contaminants. The heavy metals in soil and fish samples were determined using flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) after homogeneity and digestion of samples. The associated fungi were identified using standard microbiological methods. The genera of the associated fungi were: Penicillium, Candida, Articulospora, Aspergillus, Aspergillus, Aspergillus, Rhizopus, Mucor, Zoopage, Varicosporium and Rhodoturula. The quantity of fungi isolated from each pollution treatments showed that the number of fungi were inversely proportional to the quantity of e-waste soil pollution and directly proportional to the quantity of soil without e-waste pollution. The occurrence of the fungi species revealed that the untreated (control) vial had the highest occurrence (191) while the lowest occurrence (103) occurred in the vial polluted with the highest quantity of soil from e-waste dumpsite. The pH and the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) of the vials were significantly affected by the pollutions. Variations were also observed in the bioaccumulation of the heavy metals by Oreochromis niloticus. Cadmium (0.01 mg/kg) and nickel (0.02 - 0.08 mg/kg) were the least recorded metal in the tissue of the fish while cobalt was not detected after the five weeks period. The sequence of the heavy metals concentrations in Oreochromis niloticus tissue samples was Zn > Mn > Pb > Cr > Ni > Cd > Co. The accumulation of the metals in the fish tissue were, however, lower than the international maximum guidelines, except for manganese (0.29 - 3.13 mg/kg) that exceeded the 0.01 - 0.05 mg/kg

Headedness in Yorǘhbá： An Examination of the Deviant Value of Determiner Phrase

The issue of ＂headedness＂ is a product of Chomsky＇s （1988） notion of UG （Universal Grammar） that led to the development of a framework known as P＆P （Principles and Parameters） theory. It is this theory we have adopted for our analysis in this paper. The purpose of this paper is to examine the inconsistency in the value of Head Parameter with reference to the value of DP （determiner phrase） in Yorfib^i. As a native speaker of Yorfib~, the author has adopted an introspective method of data collection and used the intuitive knowledge of other native speakers of the language for necessary clarifications. Despite the fact that English and Yorfib~ are both head-initial, the structure of the NPs （noun phrases） in English shows that the head noun is always pre-modified, making the NP ＂head-final＂--a violation of the value of Head Parameter in the language. This necessitated the need for Abney＇s （1987） DP hypothesis; in which the determiner heads its own phrase, thereby making a NP in English head-initial. This solves the problem of Head Parameter in English. However, since nouns in Yor/lb^i are post-modified, adopting ＂DP-analysis＂ will automatically produce head-final--a violation of the value of Head Parameter in the language. Given the inconsistency in the specification of head-complement order among the noun phrases in English and Yorfib~, this paper proposes to set a parameter for SVO （Subject-Verb-Object） languages with pre-modification （like English） to adopt ＂DP-analysis＂, and those with post-modification （like Yorfib^t） to adopt ＂NP-analysis＂. This will ensure ＂head-initial＂ value for the two categories of SVO languages
