The reliability and accuracy of numerical results of microparticle fluidization in a conical bed, affected simultaneously by mesh refinement, the grid configuration and the wall boundary condition (BC), are analyzed. Specifically, pressure gradients and velocity profiles of titania powder are studied for a conical bed. The Gidaspow drag correlation and different wall BCs are considered using a Eulerian-Eulerian two-fluid model. Predictions of the pressure fluctuation, power spectra of the corresponding pressure fluctuations, bed pressure drop, minimum fluidizati on veloc ity, axial solid velocity, bed expansi on ratio, and particle size distribution are compared with experimental data. Mesh sensitivity analysis using hexahedral and tetrahedral cells with a un iform mesh and n ear-wall mesh refineme nr is con ducted to inv estigate the effects of mesh configurations in estimating particle flow patterns. Simulations show that significant savings in terms of computational time are realized by choosing a uniform mesh while the hexahedral structure, the near-wall mesh refinement, and the free-slip BC give the closest fit to the experimental data.

Liquid biopsy,including both circulating tumor cells and circulating tumor DNA,is becoming more popular as a diagnostic tool in the clinical management of breast *** concentrations of these biomarkers during cancer treatment may be used as markers for cancer progression as well as to understand the mechanisms underlying metastasis and treatment ***,these circulating markers serve as tools for cancer assessing and monitoring through a simple,non-invasive blood ***,despite several study results currently noting a potential clinical impact of ctDNA mutation tracking,the method is not used clinically in cancer diagnosis among patients and more studies are required to confirm *** review focuses on understanding circulating tumor biomarkers,especially in breast cancer.

AIM:To investigate effects of anti-TNF biologic drugs on uveitis severity(comparing visual acuity log MAR levels) in Behcet ***:Three databases Pub Med, Scopus, and the Web of Science were searched for qualified papers focusing on the anti-TNF-α factors treatment in Behcet’s disease(BD)-associated uveitis. Studies that were designed pre and post anti-TNF drug treatment, were selected. After determining the search strategy for this study, the relevant data were extracted. RESULTS:The initial search was performed in the target databases and a total of about 1458 articles were found. Fifteen articles were selected for systematic review and only 12 of them had inclusion criteria for Meta-analysis(with visual acuity data). The mean dose of prednisolone before and after biological treatments was reported in 5 studies(28.56 and 7.56 mg/kg, respectively). Also, the preliminary results indicate a significant reduction in visual acuity log MAR levels(MD=-1.5 IU/L, 95%CI:-2.1,-0.01).CONCLUSION:Biological drugs significantly reduce the dose of prednisolone and affect visual acuity values.

Iran experienced one of the largest methanol poisoning outbreaks shortly after the coronavirus pandemic due to misinformation about the beneficial effects of alcohol in preventing and treating this viral infection.^([1])According to the Iran Legal Medicine Organization(LMO),over 3,100 methanol toxicity cases and 728 deaths were reported across the country,resulting in a syndemic of methanol poisoning.^([2])There is very little literature on the electrographic predictors of cardiovascular mortality in methanol poisoned patients.^([3])

Carbon dioxide flooding is of interest due to its high oil-sweep efficiency for enhanced oil recovery and contribution to the reduction of greenhouse gas ***,when CO_(2)is injected into deep geological strata,asphaltene may *** this work,the effect of Al2O3 nanoparticles on the deposition of asphaltene was examined by assessing the variations of bond number and interfacial tension at different pressures and a temperature of 6℃.The asphaltene onset point and intensity were characterized using the bond number,which proved a better indicator of changes in oil droplet shape and interfacial tension with *** mixtures of toluene and n-heptane that contained two different kinds of asphaltenes were used as M and D oil samples.A 0.06 mass%addition of Al_(2)O_(3) nanoparticles,which worked best for reduction of interfacial tension,was also applied at various *** of nanoparticles to the oils prevented asphaltene precipitation in both synthetic samples by altering the slope of the plot of interfacial tension with pressure by 49.7% for the M sample and 9.0%for the D *** Al_(2)O_(3)nanoparticles were found to be more effective at inhibiting asphaltene precipitation for the M oil sample due to its lower H/C ratio and higher nitrogen content.

In the nonparametric data envelopment analysis literature,scale elasticity is evaluated in two alternative ways:using either the technical efficiency model or the cost efficiency *** evaluation becomes problematic in several situations,for example(a)when input proportions change in the long run,(b)when inputs are heterogeneous,and(c)when firms face ex-ante price uncertainty in making their production *** address these situations,a scale elasticity evaluation was performed using a value-based cost efficiency ***,this alternative value-based scale elasticity evaluation is sensitive to the uncertainty and variability underlying input and output ***,in this study,we introduce a stochastic cost-efficiency model based on chance-constrained programming to develop a value-based measure of the scale elasticity of firms facing data *** illustrative empirical application to the Indian banking industry comprising 71 banks for eight years(1998–2005)was made to compare inferences about their efficiency and scale *** key findings are as follows:First,both the deterministic model and our proposed stochastic model yield distinctly different results concerning the efficiency and scale elasticity scores at various tolerance levels of chance ***,both models yield the same results at a tolerance level of 0.5,implying that the deterministic model is a special case of the stochastic model in that it reveals the same efficiency and returns to scale characterizations of ***,the stochastic model generates higher efficiency scores for inefficient banks than its deterministic ***,public banks exhibit higher efficiency than private and foreign ***,public and old private banks mostly exhibit either decreasing or constant returns to scale,whereas foreign and new private banks experience either increasing or decreasing returns to *** the application of our proposed stochastic mode

In this study,the dislocation behavior of a polycrystalline Mg-5Y alloy during tensile deformation was quantitatively studied by an in-situ tensile test,visco-plastic self-consistent(VPSC)modeling,and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The results of the in-situ tensile test show thatdislocations contribute to most of the deformation,while a small fraction ofdislocations are also activated near grain boundaries(GBs).The critical resolved shear stresses(CRSSs)of different dislocation slip systems were *** CRSS ratio between prismatic and basaldislocation slip in the Mg-Y alloy(~13)is lower than that of pure Mg(~80),which is considered as a major reason for the high ductility of the *** study shows that thedislocations in the alloy have high mobility,which also helps to accommodate the deformation near GBs.

Deep learning has shown potential in domains with large-scale annotated ***,manual annotation is expensive,time-consuming,and ***-level annotations are particularly costly for semantic segmentation in images with dense irregular patterns of object instances,such as in plant *** this work,we propose a method for developing high-performing deep learning models for semantic segmentation of such images utilizing little manual *** a use case,we focus on wheat head *** synthesize a computationally annotated dataset—using a few annotated images,a short unannotated video clip of a wheat field,and several video clips with no wheat—to train a customized U-Net *** the distribution shift between the synthesized and real images,we apply three domain adaptation steps to gradually bridge the domain *** using two annotated images,we achieved a Dice score of 0.89 on the internal test *** further evaluated on a diverse external dataset collected from 18 different domains across five countries,this model achieved a Dice score of *** expose the model to images from different growth stages and environmental conditions,we incorporated two annotated images from each of the 18 domains to further fine-tune the *** increased the Dice score to *** result highlights the utility of the proposed approach in the absence of large-annotated *** our use case is wheat head segmentation,the proposed approach can be extended to other segmentation tasks with similar characteristics of irregularly repeating patterns of object instances.

A silicon nanowire （Si-NW） sensor for pH detection is presented. The conductance of the device is analytically obtained, demonstrating that the conductance increases with decreasing oxide thickness. To calculate the electrical conductance of the sensor, the diffusion-drift model and nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation are applied. To improve the conductance and sensitivity, a Si-NW sensor with nanoscaie side gate voltage is offered and its characteristics are theoretically achieved. It is revealed that the conductance and sensor sensitivity can be enhanced by adding appropriate side gate voltages. This effect is compared to a similar fabricated structure in the literature, which has a wire with a rectangular cross section. Finally, the effect of NW length on sensor performance is investigated and an inverse relation between sensor sensitivity and NW length is achieved.

This paper presents an analytical, numerical, and experimental study on atomization characteristics and droplet distribution of a twin-fluid two-phase internal mixing atomizer to develop a Maximum Entropy Method(MEM). A two-phase Eulerian-Lagrangian method is utilized for atomization modeling of the inside and outside atomizer. In order to modify energy and momentum sources in the MEM, parametric studies are performed, and experimental tests are carried out to verify the results by applying the shadowgraph method. An advanced test stand is developed to prepare a wide range of changes in atomization characteristics and mixing ratios. A high degree of consistency is found between numerical results from the developed MEM and experimental tests with different gas-phase pressures and liquid flow rates. The droplet diameter and velocity distribution are reviewed based on various Weber numbers, sources of energy, and momentum. Turbulence modeling assists to estimate the breakup length and time scale precisely in the developed MEM, and distribution ranges with mean values are achieved. With reference to a strong correlation between upstream turbulence flow and the developed MEM verified by experimental tests, an ideal droplet size and velocity distribution prediction is observed.
