Diospyros lycioides Desf.(D. lycioides) is traditionally used as herbal medicine against various human and animal ailments in tropical Africa. The present paper reviewed information on botany, medicinal uses, phytochemistry and pharmacological activities of D. lycioides. This review was compiled using scientific literature from electronic search engine such as PubMed,Scopus, ScienceDirect, Springerlink, BioMed central, Scielo, Medline and Science *** literatures were obtained from book chapters, books, dissertations, websites and other scientific publications. D. lycioides is used as traditional medicine in 50% of the countries where the species is native in tropical Africa. This study recorded 22 medicinal uses of *** which included abdominal pains, infertility in women, sexually transmitted infections,and used as chewing sticks(or mouthwash), toothbrushes and ethnoveterinary medicine. *** extracts demonstrated anti-adhesive, anti-inflammatory, antimetastatic, antioxidant,antifungal, antiproliferative, mutagenicity and antibacterial activities. Future research should focus on the pharmacological properties, phytochemistry, clinical trials and pharmacokinetics of D. lycioides which will enhance the therapeutic potential of the species.

The Pyrenean chamois Rupicapra pyrenaica pyrenaica is a mountain-dwelling ungulate with an extensive presence in open areas. Optimal group size results from the trade off between advantages （a reduction in the risk of predation） and disadvantages （competition between members of the herd） of group living. In addition, advantages and disadvantages of group living may vary depending on the position of each individual within the herd. Our objective was to study the effect of central vs. peripheral position in the herd on feeding and vigilance behavior in male and female Pyrenean chamois and to ascertain if a group size effect existed. We used focal animal sampling and recorded social interactions when a focal animal was involved. With males, vigilance rate was higher in the central part of the group than at the periphery, probably due to a higher density of animals in the central part of the herd and a higher probability of being disturbed by conspecifics. With females, vigilance rate did not differ according to position in the herd. Females spent more time feeding than males, and males showed a higher frequency of the vigilance behavior than females. We did not observe a clear relationship between group size and vigilance behavior. The differences in vigilance behavior might be due to social interactions

Multiple-principal element alloys hold great promise for multifunctional material discovery(e.g.,for novel electrocatalysts based on complex solid solutions)in a virtually unlimited compositional ***,the phase constitution of the noble metal system Ag-Ir-Pd-Pt-Ru was investigated over a large compositional range in the quinary composition space and for different annealing temperatures from 600 to 900°c using thin-film materials ***-dependent X-ray diffraction mapping of the asdeposited thin-film materials library indicates different phases being present across the composition space(face-centered cubic(fcc),hexagonal close packed(hcp)and mixed fcc+hcp),which are strongly dependent on the Ru *** general,low Ru contents promote the fcc phase,whereas high Ru contents favor the formation of an hcp solid-solution ***,a temperature-induced phase transformation study was carried out for a selected measurement area of fcc-Ag_(5)Ir_(8)Pd_(56)Pt_(8)Ru_(23).With increasing temperature,the initial fcc phase transforms to an intermediate c14-type Laves phase at 360°c,and then to hcp when the temperature reaches 510°*** formation and disappearance of the hexagonal Laves phase,which covers a wide temperature range,plays a crucial role of bridging the fcc to hcp phase *** obtained composition,phase and temperature data are transformed into phase maps which could be used to guide theoretical studies and lay a basis for tuning the functional properties of these materials.

AIM:To provide a comprehensive and more representative national data on the disease,especially on treatment options and outcomes,and to determine access of retinoblastoma patients from Luzon,Visayas and Mindanao to eye care,and determine if access is associated with delay in consultation,staging and ***:cohort study of retinoblastoma patients seen in eleven institutions located in the three major areas of the Philippines namely Luzon,Vizayas and Mindanao from ***:Totally 636 patients,involving 821 eyes,were ***(57%)were from Luzon and were seen in institutions in Luzon(72%).Annually,58±10 new cases were seen with 71%having unilateral *** delay of consultation remained long at 9(3,17)mo,longest in patients with unilateral disease(Pcular *** was the most common treatment received by 484 patients while intravenous chemotherapy was received by *** were 250(39%)patients alive,195(31%)dead,85(13%)abandoned,17(3%)refused and 89(14%)with no ***:This study presents the largest cohort of retinoblastoma patients in the Philippines in terms of patients’and participating institutions’number and geographical location and type of institution(private and public).It also presents more comprehensive data on the treatments used and outcomes(survival,globe salvage,and vision retention rates).Delay in consultation was still long among patients leading to advanced disease stage and lower survival *** increasing capacity to diagnose and manage retinoblastoma in the country,the delay of consultation remains long primarily due to accessibility issues to eye care institutions especially in the Visayas and financial *** delay was still significant that overall survival rate remain low.

Background: Built environments that are designed to provide accessible, attractive, and convenient locales promote regular physical activity(PA).Norway has great variability in its geographic, natural, and built environment features. Urban areas have well-developed built environment features, whereas the rural areas are less walkable and this may influence the mode of transport. In general, active transport is more common in urban centers. Further, public transportation is more developed in urban areas, whereas motorized transport may be more widespread in the rural areas. Despite this, in Sogn & Fjordane, a rural county in western Norway, high PA levels are frequently observed. Thus, the aims of this study were to(1) explore perceived built environment features and characterize their associations with objectively measured PA levels in Norwegian adults and(2) explore the differences in these correlates between Sogn & Fjordane and the rest of ***: In this cross-sectional study, participants used questionnaires to rate perceptions of their built environments, and their PA was objectively measured for 7 consecutive days using the Acti Graph GT1 M accelerometer. There were 972 Norwegian adults who were included in the study. The average age was 46.9 ± 6.5 years and 43.8% of participants were men. Data were analyzed using multiple linear ***: Total PA and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity(MVPA) were both associated with perceived walkability, the community perception score, and active transport for commuting(all p ≤ 0.004). We also observed geographic-area-specific associations: the community perception score was negatively associated with total PA and MVPA in the rest of Norway(p ≤ 0.012) but not in Sogn & Fjordane. The effect of downstream resistance on flow diverter treatment of a cerebral aneurysm at a bifurcation: A joint computational-experimental study

Intracranial aneurysm can lead to hemorrhagic stroke upon rupture. Deployment of flow diverters can restrict the blood flow into aneurysm and mitigate the rupture risk. computational fluid dynamics（cFD） and ultrasonography with pulse-wave and color Doppler ultrasound measurements were employed jointly to investigate the complex flow pattern in cerebral aneurysms, both before and after the deployment of flow diverters. Patient-specific configurations of both bifurcation and side-wall aneurysms were selected. The effect of downstream flow resistance was investigated by adjusting the volume flow rate and pressure at the outlet vessels computationally and experimentally. Velocity profiles in the aneurysm measured from ultrasonography showed good agreement with those from computer simulations. The discrepancy in velocity between the computational and experimental sets of data is less than 10%. The downstream resistance can alter the volume flux into a bifurcation aneurysm with a flow diverter deployed by 236%, while the corresponding value of a side-wall aneurysm is negligible. The vorticity of the aneurysmal flow was reduced by more than 80% in both cases after stenting. This study demonstrated that careful investigation of downstream flow resistance of a bifurcation aneurysm is essential to provide an accurate assessment of the aneurysmal flow dynamics after flow diverter deployment.
