The Horn of Africa and the Persian Gulf have millennial relations characterised by mutual interaction and ***,from the Cold War period onwards,international relations scholars focus-ing on strategic and security analysis have used a realist approach to depict these relations as largely one-way involvement and influ-ence from the Gulf to the Horn of ***,this approach por-trays the Horn of Africa as a Gulf and other middle and great powers’strategic chessboard and fails to account for the reality of political dynamics in the Horn of Africa and the agency of the local state and non-state actors in their external *** article argues that the realist approach’s depiction of foreign relations mainly as power struggles between unitary state actors is reduc-tionist and presents an inadequate framework for the analysis of the Horn of Africa’s complex external relationships involving various state and powerful societal(non-state)*** privileges struc-ture over agency disproportionally,requiring recalibration of the realist framework’s conceptualisation of the‘state’and‘power’.As a result,the article proposes that a more nuanced actor-based account which includes domestic political dynamics and locally prominent internationally active societal actors is necessary for a more realistic analysis of the Horn’s external relations.

This paper presents a novel power supply system based on the use of fuzzy inference logic to improve the power control of renewable energy *** system comprises renewable solar and wind sources,and an accumulator battery is used as an additional power *** procedure for the parallel connection of multiple energy sources provides a stable power supply and optimal charging of the accumulative *** energy sources are connected in parallel using two serial converters and controlled by the controller based on the fuzzy *** reference voltage control of the serial converter enables an optimal use of available energy *** accumulative element is connected in parallel to compensate for the shortage of solar and wind energies,whereas if the available renewable energy exceeds the needs of the consumers,the surplus energy is accumulated in the *** measurements are conducted on the prototype of the hybrid power system under real conditions and compared with the applied systems of this *** novel system is mainly used in remote telecom locations where there is no power distribution network.

Albania has a lot of water re,;ources including： seas, rivers, lakes, lagoons as well as underground waters. Albania has about 485 mm precipitation annual year, with the forms of rain and snow. Most precipitations descend from the rivers and flow into the Adriatic Sea. About 23% of underground waters are distributed in all country and used by people for different activities. There are also a lot of kinds of natural habitats and ecosystems, such as： Mediterranean shrubs, broadleaves forests, conifer forests, mixed forests, alpine and sub-alpine pasture ecosystems, meadows, rock area, marine ecosystems, coastal, lagoons and other wetland areas, lakes, rivers, but of course and agricultural area. All of them have good correlations between the vegetation and water resources. This correlation is more evident near the rivers, lakes, lagoons etc..

Paraneoplastic Leukemoid Reaction in a Patient with Urothelial Carcinoma: A Case Report

Introduction: Leukemoid reactions in cancer are rare and associated with a poor prognosis. The mechanism driving paraneoplastic leukemoid reactions appears to be gain-of-function granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) secretion by tumour cells. Case Presentation: A 57-year-old male smoker presented with a one-year history of painless frank hematuria and three kilograms weight loss. Cystoscopy revealed a high-grade urothelial carcinoma with sarcomatoid differentiation. The patient was treated by radical cystoprostatectomy, bilateral pelvic lymph node dissection and formation of an ileal conduit. In the absence of bone marrow infiltrations, recurrence of the urothelial carcinoma three months later was associated with a paraneoplastic leukemoid reaction with a white blood cell count peaking at 82.62 × 109/l. Unfortunately, his condition continued to deteriorate and he died shortly thereafter. Conclusion: Monitoring of white blood cell counts in paraneoplastic leukemoid reactions can be a useful indicator of response of the malignancy to chemotherapy or radiotherapy and an indication of relapse after treatment. Paraneoplastic leukemoid reactions are caused by G-CSF secretion by tumour cells and are associated with a poor prognosis. Whether G-CSF signaling plays a role in the aggressive nature of these cancers is currently unknown.

Thermomineral water promotes axonal sprouting but does not reduce glial scar formation in a mouse model of spinal cord injury

Thermomineral water from the Atomic Spa Gornja Trepca has been used for a century in the treatment of neurologic disease. The thermomineral water contains microelements, including lithium and magnesium, which show neural regeneration-promoting effects after central nervous system injury. In this study, we investigated the effects of oral intake of thermomineral water from the Atomic Spa Gornja Trepca on nerve regeneration in a 3-month-old mouse model of spinal cord injury. The mice receiving oral intake of thermomineral water showed better locomotor recovery than those without administration of thermomineral water at 8 and 12 weeks after lower thoracic spinal cord compression. At 12 weeks after injury, sprouting of catecholaminergic axons was better in mice that drank thermomineral water than in those without administration of thermomineral water, but there was no difference in glial reaction to injury between mice with and without administration of thermomineral water. These findings suggest that thermomineral water can promote the nerve regeneration but cannot reduce glial scar formation in a mouse model of spinal cord injury.

Background:Exercise training promotes brain plasticity and is associated with protection against cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease(AD).These beneficial effects may be partly mediated by blood-borne *** we used an in vitro model of AD to investigate effects of blood plasma from exercise-trained donors on neuronal viability,and an in vivo rat model of AD to test whether such plasma impacts cognitive function,amyloid pathology,and ***:Mouse hippocampal neuronal cells were exposed to AD-like stress using amyloid-βand treated with plasma collected from human male donors 3 h after a single bout of high-intensity *** in vivo studies,blood was collected from exercise-trained young male Wistar rats(high-intensity intervals 5 days/week for 6 weeks).Transgenic AD rats(McGill-R-Thyl-APP)were inj ected 5 times/fortnight for 6 weeks at2 months or 5 months of age with either(a)plasma from the exercise-trained rats,(b)plasma from sedentary rats,or(c)*** function,amyloid plaque pathology,and neurogenesis were *** plasma used for the treatment was analyzed for 23 ***:Plasma from exercised donors enhanced cell viability by 44.1%(p=0.032)and reduced atrophy by 50.0%(pyloid-β-treated *** vivo exercised plasma treatment did not alter cognitive function or amyloid plaque pathology but did increase hippocampal neurogenesis by~3 fold,regardless of pathological stage,when compared to saline-treated *** of 7 cytokines were significantly reduced in exercised plasma compared to sedentary ***:Our proof-of-concept study demonstrates that plasma from exercise-trained donors can protect neuronal cells in culture and promote adult hippocampal neurogenesis in the AD rat *** effect may be partly due to reduced pro-inflammatory signaling molecules in exercised plasma.
