MeteoRead: Client Software for Inserting Observed Atmospheric Data into MySQL<sub>TM</sub>Database and Downloading them into Different File Format

The investigation of the tendency of climate change and its effects on ecology, economy and sociology is essential for long term policy making. The long-term measurement of the physical and chemical properties of the atmosphere with state-of-the-arts instruments provides high-quality data for these studies. The evaluated data are stored in really special file structures and formats that cannot be inserted in one common database. Moreover, the observed data usually available in ASCII format and the users sometimes need to convert them in other format. The file conversion is usually time consuming procedure and can contribute to the uncertainties. MeteoRead is a client database software that imports the observed atmospheric data e.g. wind direction, wind speed, aerosol particle concentration etc. and makes them available in different file formats, which are most commonly used in climate research. This JavaTM based program applies the Structured Query Language (SQL) functions such as table creation on a database server, data or figures insertion into the table and data selection via graphical User Interface. The selected data can be stored in NetCDF, HDF5, DataBase or TXT file formats and the figures can be available in PNg, JPg, JPNg, PDF or gIF file formats. The program was tested on Linux and Windows platforms with different JavaTM Development Kit. The MeteoRead is planned to be developed to visualizing the annual, seasonal, monthly, daily or hourly average value of the selected data and to use the functionality of the SQL database to calculate various mathematical and statistical correlations.

A NUMERICAL METHOD FOR SIMULATINg NONLINEAR FLUID-RIgID STRUCTURE INTERACTION PROBLEMS

A numerical method for simulating nonlinear fluid-rigid structure interaction problems is developed. The structure is assumed to undergo large rigid body motions and the fluid flow is governed by nonlinear, viscous or non-viscous, field equations with nonlinear boundary conditions applied to the free surface and fluid-solid interaction interfaces. An Arbitrary-LagrangianEulerian (ale) mesh system is used to construct the numerical model. A multi-block numerical scheme of study is adopted allowing for the relative motion between moving overset grids, which are independent of one another. This provides a convenient method to overcome the difficulties in matching fluid meshes with large solid motions. Nonlinear numerical equations describing nonlinear fluid-solid interaction dynamics are derived through a numerical discretization scheme of study. A coupling iteration process is used to solve these numerical equations. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate applications of the model developed.

Prediction of shear-related defect locations in semi-solid casting using numerical flow models

The analytical method developed is based on HPLC-MS/MS to simultanous determine Progesterone,Boldenone and Trenbolone in Chicken,Beef and Pork *** sample is freeze drying reduced in powder and a Methanol-Acetate Buffer (pH=5.2) solution is added in order to perform the extraction and sonicated with a solution prior to deconjugation using β-*** sample is purified using C18 and SiOH solid phase extraction (SPE) cartridge prior to analyze on reversed phase with a elution gradient performed on Agilent C18 coupled with a HPLC-MS/*** detection Limit is respectively 0.11,0.17 and 0.02 μg/kg for Trenbolone,Boldenone and Progesterone with a ratio Signal/Noise>3 in the 3 different kind of *** quantification was based on the peak area and overall recoveries of synthetic growth hormones were 62%-99%.

Influence of tool pin profile on microstructure and corrosion behaviour of AA2219 Al-Cu alloy friction stir weld nuggets

To overcome the problems of fusion welding of aluminium alloys, the friction stir welding(FSW) is recognized as an alternative joining method to improve the mechanical and corrosion properties. Tool profile is one of the important variables which affect the performance of the FS weld. In the present work, the effect of tool profile on the weld nugget microstructure and pitting corrosion of AA2219 aluminium-copper alloy was studied. FSW of AA2219 alloy was carried out using five profiles, namely conical, square, triangle, pentagon and hexagon. The temperature measurements were made in the region adjacent to the rotating pin. It was observed that the peak temperature is more in hexagonal tool pin compared to the welds produced with other tool pin profiles. It is observed that the extensive deformation experienced at the nugget zone and the evolved microstructure strongly influences the hardness and corrosion properties of the joint during FSW. It was found that the microstructure changes like grain size, misorientation and precipitate dissolution during FSW influence the hardness and corrosion behaviour. Pitting corrosion resistance of friction stir welds of AA2219 was found to be better for hexagon profile tool compared to other profiles, which was attributed to material flow and strengthening precipitate morphology in nugget zone. Higher amount of heat generation in FS welds made with hexagonal profile tool may be the reason for greater dissolution of strengthening precipitates in nugget zone.
