Boulder spacing in mountain rivers and near-wake flow zones within the boulder array is very useful for fish habitat and growth of aquatic *** present study aims to investigate how the boulder array and spacing influence the near-bed flow structures in a gravel-bed *** are staggered over a gravel-bed stream with three different inter-boulder spacing namely(a)large(b)medium and(c)small *** acoustic Doppler velocimeter was used for flow measurements in a rectangular channel and the results were compared with those acquired from numerical *** time-averaged velocity profiles at the near-wake flow zones of boulders experience maximum flow retardation which is an outcome of the boulder-induced form *** ratio of velocity differences associated to form and skin roughness and its positive magnitude reveals the dominance of form roughness closest to the *** roughness computed is 1.75 to 2 times higher than the skin roughness at the near-wake flow *** particular,the collective immobile boulders placed at different inter-boulder spacings developed high and low bed shear stresses closest to the *** low bed shear stresses characterised by a secondary peak developed at the trough location of the boulders is attributed to the skin shear ***,the spatial averaging of time-averaged flow quantities gives additional impetus to present an improved illustration of fluid shear *** formation of form-induced shear stress is estimated to be 17%to 23%of doubleaveraged Reynolds shear stress and partially compensates for the damping of time-averaged Reynolds shear stress in the interfacial *** quadrant analysis of spatial velocity fluctuations depicts that the form-induced shear stresses are dominant in the interfacial sub-layer and have no significance above the gravel-bed surface.

The study deals with stream response to sustained tectonic during the Cenozoic and development of two parallel scarps in the western Kachchh. The study encompasses fluvial networks developed over the Jara and Jumara domes, which are a part of the laterally extensive belt of flexures bounded by the Kachchh Mainland Fault(KMF) to their north and called as Northern Hill Range(NHR). parameters such as longitudinal profile, Hack profile, stream length gradient index(SL), hypsometric curve, hypsometric integral(HI), valley floor width to height ratio(Vf), elongation ratio(Re) and escarpment sinuosity(ES) were analysed. Hack profiles of the major rivers draining through the area show similar convex up nature suggesting primary influence of the tectonics in controlling and shaping the landscape of the region. Elongation ratio psometric integral suggest the tendency of river systems to increase the basin area longitudinally rather than laterally. The study suggests that higher net uplift in the eastern half(Jumara dome) caused the rivers to overcome the structural control and to carve out generally straight north oriented channels. The rivers of western part(Jara dome) show more prominent structural control of cuesta girdles formed in compact lithologies and attributed to the domal structure. The ~10 km long Jaramara scarp believed to the remnant of older KMF scarp, is a product of headward erosion of the fluvial channels through different hard and soft litho-units of the area. The similar orientation of Jaramara scarp and morphology of the Ukra intrusive body suggests that the Ukra intrusive played a significant role in controlling the formation and morphology of the Jaramara scarp.

Real-time multi-media applications are increasingly mapped on modern embedded systems based on multiprocessor systems-on-chip （MpSoC）. Tasks of the applications need to be mapped on the MpSoC resources efficiently in order to satisity their performance constraints. Exploring all the possible mappings, i.e., tasks to resources combinations exhaustively may take days or weeks. Additionally, the exploration is performed at design-time, which cannot handle dynamism in applications and resources＇ status. A runtime mapping technique can cater for the dynamism but cannot guarantee for strict timing deadlines due to large computations involved at run-time. Thus, an approach performing feasible compute intensive exploration at design-time and using the explored results at run-time is required. This paper presents a solution in the same direction. Communicationaware design space exploration （CADSE） techniques have been proposed to explore different mapping options to be selected at run-time subject to desired performance and available MpSoC resources. Experiments show that the proposed techniques for exploration are faster over an exhaustive exploration and provides almost the same quality of results.

This study presents the emission factor of gaseous pollutants （CO, CO2, and NOx） from on-road tailpipe measurement of 14 passenger cars of different types of fuel and vintage. The trolley equipped with stainless steel duct, vane probe velocity meter, flue gas analyzer, Nondispersive infra red （NDIR） C02 analyzer, temperature, and relative humidity （RH） sensors was connected to the vehicle using a towing system. Lower CO and higher NOx emissions were observed from new diesel cars （post 2010） compared to old cars （post 2005）, which implied that new technological advancement in diesel fueled passenger cars to reduce CO emission is a successful venture, however, the use of turbo charger in diesel cars to achieve high temperature combustion might have resulted in increased NOx emissions. Based on the measured emission factors （g/kg0, and fuel consumption （kg）, the average and 95% confidence interval （CI） bound estimates of CO, CO2, and NOx from four wheeler （4W） in Delhi for the year 2012 were 15.7 （1.4-37.1）, 6234 （386-12,252）, and 30.4 （0.0-103） Gg/year, respectively. The contribution of diesel, gasoline and compressed natural gas （CNG） to total CO, C02 and NOx emissions were 7：84：9, 50：48：2 and 58：41：1 respectively. The present work indicated that the age and the maintenance of vehicle both are important factors in emission assessment therefore, more systematic repetitive measurements coveting wide range of vehicles of different age groups, engine capacity, and maintenance level is needed for refining the emission factors with CI.
