An electrochemically pretreated silver macroporous(Ag Mp) multiwalled carbon nanotube modified glassy carbon electrode(pAN-Ag Mp-MWCNT-GCE) was fabricated for the selective determination of an antihyperlipidimic drug, pitavastatin(pST). The fabricated electrochemical sensor was characterized by cyclic voltammetry(CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS). The fabricated electrode was employed in quantifying and determining pST through differential pulse adsorptive stripping voltammetry(DpAdSV) and CV. The electrode fabrication proceeded with remarkable sensitivity to the determination of pST. The effect of various optimized parameters such as pH, scan rate(ν), accumulation time(t_(acc)), accumulation potential(U_(acc))and loading volumes of Ag Mp-MWCNT suspension were investigated to evaluate the performance of synthesized electrochemical sensor and to propose a simple, accurate, rapid and economical procedure for the quantification of pST in pharmaceutical formulations and biological fluids. A linear response of pST concentration in the range 2.0×10^(-7)–1.6×10^(-6)M with low detection(LOD) and quantification(LOQ) limits of 9.66 ± 0.04 nM and 32.25 ± 0.07 nM, respectively, were obtained under these optimized conditions.

Fortification of apple slices with t-resveratrol glucoside was obtained by vacuum impregnation (VI) of apple slices with a solution containing grape juice using response surface methodology (RSM). Three independent variables of the VI process: vacuum pressure, application time and relaxation time, were coded at five levels in a central composite design. The VI-treated and dried apple slices were analyzed for t-resveratrol glucoside concentration and textural attributes (gradient and linear distance). Multiple response optimization revealed the following optimum VI condi-tions for the bioactive enrichment and improved textural quality of dried apple slices: vacuum pressure of 6 in. of Hg, application time of 10 min, and relaxation time of 22.5 min.

polybrominated diphenyl ethers(pBDEs)have been used as flame retardants in various building materials,plastic and other polymers,airplanes,electronics,*** or some of their congeners have been already banned in many countries,due to their persistency and adverse health *** this study,we are focusing on e-wastes as a source of emission of pBDEs in ambient air during reclamation *** ambient air particulate matter(pM)samples were collected at and near an e-waste reclamation site in Bangkok,*** showed the presence of various homologues,viz:tri-,tetra-,penta-,hexa-,and hepta-pBDEs in both pM2.5 and total suspended particle(TSp)*** comparison of samples as a function of distance from the reclamation site indicated elevated levels of pBDEs in close proximity to the e-waste ***,a shift in the congener pattern was observed with lower brominated pBDEs being more prevalent in nearby off-site samples as compared to the pM collected at the e-waste *** total penta-pBDEs concentration is almost double in the e-waste site pM2.5 compared to the control site *** TSp,tetra,penta,and hepta-pBDEs congeners are at higher concentrations at the e-waste sites and its vicinity compared to reference ***,a clear trend can be observed indicating a debromination of pBDEs to more toxic tri and tetra congeners during the reclamation process and pBDEs are being translocated from treated materials to ambient air *** 30 is uniquely detected in our studies as a dominant final debromination product,that can be used as a marker of thermal e-waste *** work indicates potential hazards related to the reclamation of e-wastes and remediation of sites containing *** particular,thermal treatment methods can lead to congener transformation and increased emissions of more toxic lower brominated congeners.

AIM:To identify patient risk factors associated with incomplete small bowel capsule endoscopy(CE) ***:Data from all CE procedures performed at ***'s Hospital in Vancouver,British Columbia,Canada,between December 2001 and June 2008 were collected and analyzed on a retrospective *** collection for complete and incomplete CE study groups included patient demographics as well as a number of potential risk factors for incomplete CE including indication for the procedure,hospitalization,diabetes mellitus with or without end organ damage,limitations in mobility,renal insufficiency,past history of bowel obstruction,abdominal surgery,abdominal radiation therapy and opiate *** factors were analyzed using a univariable and multivariable logistic regression ***:From a total of 535 CE procedures performed,158 were incomplete(29.5%).The univariable analysis showed that CE procedures performed for overt gastrointestinal bleeding(p = 0.002),and for patients with a prior history of abdominal surgery(p = 0.023) or bowel obstruction(p = 0.023) were significantly associated with incomplete CE *** on opiate medications(p = 0.094) as well as hospitalized patients(p = 0.054) were not statistically significant,but did show a trend towards incomplete *** multivariable analysis showed that independent risk factors for an incomplete CE procedure include prior history of bowel obstruction [odds ratios(OR) 2.77,p = 0.02,95% confidence intervals(CI):1.17-6.56] and procedures performed for gastrointestinal bleeding(Occult OR 2.04,p = 0.037,95% CI:1.04-4.02 and Overt OR 2.69,p = 0.002,95% CI:1.44-5.05).patients with a prior history of abdominal surgery(OR 1.46,p = 0.068,95% CI:0.97-2.19),those taking opiate medications(OR 1.54,p = 0.15,95% CI:0.86-2.76) and hospitalized patients(OR 1.82,p = 0.124,95% CI:0.85-3.93) showed a trend towards statistical ***:We have identified a number of risk factors for incomplete CE procedures

背景与目的：具有不典型的DWI特征的脓肿与具有坏死区的高级别颅内肿瘤单纯依靠DWI难以区别。我们试图通过对比分析不同的MRI图像，将DWI与传统的MRI图像相结合，来实现对边缘强化的颅内病变的病因加以区分。方法：本研究共包括了51例患者、共58个核磁共振显示为边缘强化的颅内病灶，其中32例为男性，19例为女性，平均年龄48.47岁，均于2012年行外科手术治疗。对病灶的传统核磁共振图像和弥散成像的不同影像特征以及相应的病理学结果进行研究分析，为保证诊断精度，我们对数量变量进行了敏感性、特异性、阳性预测值、阴性预测值的统计学验证，而对于质量变量则以ROC曲线下面积来进行统计学验证。结果在58个边缘强化病灶中，有21例是原发肿瘤，18例为脓肿，14例为继发肿瘤，5例为NCC。22个病灶中心部有弥散受限，22个病灶具有较薄且光滑的边壁，且23个具有低T2的完整边缘。无强化的病灶中心部的弥散受限在区分脓肿与非脓肿病灶方面的敏感性和特异性分别为88.89%和90.24%（p p p p p=0.004以及ROC曲线下的面积是0.719）。将同时具有无强化中心部的弥散受限以及均匀光滑的薄壁样强化为特征来鉴别脓肿与非脓肿性病变时，其敏感性和特异性分别为72.22%和100%，即具有很高的特异性。结论在对颅内边缘强化病灶的不同MRI特征分析研究中，较之单纯依靠DWI结果来评价病灶，将病灶边缘的影像学特征与病灶的DWI特征相结合会更加有帮助。

Objective Megalencephalic leukoencephalopathy with subcortical cysts(MLC, M1M# 604004) is an autosomal recessively inherited disease resulting from a deficiency of MLCI *** study was to identify MLCI mutations and perform their functional studies in Chinese patients with megalencephalic leukoencephalopathy with subcortical cysts (MLC).Methods The analysis of clinical features and MLCI mutation screening were performed in 13 Chinese *** functional study of MLCI variants was carried out by western blot,real-time pCR and confocal microscope.U373MG cells transfected by ***3.1-HA-MLCl wildtype and mutants were immunoassayed with antibodies of HA and calnexin,an ER *** A total of 10 MLCI mutations were identified in these patients,including five novel missense mutations(c.65G>A,p.R22Q;c.95C>T,p.A32V;c.218G>A,p.G73E;c.823G>A,p.A275T;c.832T>C,p.Y278H),one novel splicing mutation (c.772-1G>C in IVS9-1),one novel small deletion(c.90730del,p.V303310del),one known nonsense mutation(c.593delCTCA,p.Y198X) and two known missense mutations (c.206C>T,p.S69L;c.353C>T,p.T118M).Compared with the protein expression in WT,the protein expression in mutants A32V,G73E,S69L,T118M,Y198X,A275T and C278R were reduced in different level(all pprotein expression in mutant *** with mRNA expression in WT,that in mutants G73E, T118M,Y198X and A275T were at a lower level(ppt MLC1 protein and mRNA expression and *** would be the first report about MLC1 mutations in patients with megalencephalic leukoencephalopathy with subcortical cysts in China.

A partial order or poset p=(X, on a (finite) base set X?determines the set L(p)?of linear extensions of p. The problem of computing, for a poset p, the cardinality of L(p)?is #p-complete. A set {p1,p2,...,pk}?of posets on X?covers the set of linear orders that is the union of the L(pi). Given linear orders L1,L2,...,Lm on X, the poset Cover problem is to determine the smallest number of posets that cover {L1,L2,...,Lm}. Here, we show that the decision version of this problem is Np-complete. On the positive side, we explore the use of cover relations for finding posets that cover a set of linear orders and present a polynomial-time algorithm to find a partial poset cover.

Most methods used by food industries to decontaminate eggs involve washing of egg surface with various chemicals. In this study, the effectiveness of two organic decontaminants viz., acidified sodium chlorite (ASC) and cell free culture supernatant (CFCS) of two lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus plantarum and pediococcus cerevisiae) was evaluated for the decontamination of spiked Salmonella Typhimurium on chicken egg shell surface. Acidified sodium chlorite at 100 μl/L concentration with the contact time of 20 min completely inhibited S. Typhimurium on egg shell surface while at 50 μl/L concentration 1 - 2 log10 units reduction was observed in counts of S. Typhimurium as compared to control group. Likewise, CFCS of p. cerevisiae completely inhibited the growth of S. Typhimurium on 30 min contact, whereas L. plantarum and combination of both were revealed significant reduction in the counts of S. Typhimurium counts.
