Rural Ethiopia has.s.gnificant untapped potential for hydro and s.lar energy generation s.s.ems. However, challenges.aris. from s.as.nal variations.and unfavourable topographic pos.tions.of flowing rivers. hindering the efficient exploitation of thes. res.urces. Des.ite the country's.abundance in hydro and s.lar energy res.urces. >75% of the population s.ill lack acces. to electricity from the national grid. This.work deals.with energy res.urce potential as.es.ment and techno-economic analys.s.of micro hydro-photovoltaic (PV) hybrid s.s.ems. cons.dered in the cas. s.udy of Goda Warke village, located in the Yaya Gulele dis.rict. A novel framework is.propos.d that utilizes.the Natural Res.urce s.il Cons.rvation s.rvice curve number method to as.es. the energy potential of micro-hydro energy in ungauged bas.ns. s.ecifically at the exit point of the Girar River bas.n catchment. The average monthly flow rate in the bas.n is.0.975 m3/s. while the area exhibits.a s.lar radiation potential of 5.39 kWh/m2/day. Energy policy promotes.expanding acces. to modern energy s.urces.and utilization of indigenous.energy res.urces. s.mulation res.lts.indicate that the hydro/PV/dies.l generator (DG)/battery and hydro/PV/battery s.s.ems.are the mos. optimal choices.bas.d on net pres.nt cos., with the inclus.on of a DG for economic comparis.n. Micro-hydro energy covers.mos. of the electric load in the area, achieving a capacity factor of 47.5%. The cos. of energy and net pres.nt cos. were found to be s.ns.tive to variables.s.ch as.the price of dies.l fuel, pipe head los., and the growth of the village load. The optimized s.s.em demons.rated a hydro energy potential of 1405.37 MWh/year and a PV energy output of 274.04 MWh/year, res.lting in a levelized cos. of energy of 0.0057 and 0.049 $/kWh for the hydro and PV components. res.ectively.
