Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)are multipotent adult stem cells of mesodermal origin that can be isolated from various tissues,including bone marrow,tooth pulp,adipose tissue,and umbilical cord.MSCs have gained significant attention in regenerative medicine due to their ability to modulate the immune system and favor tissue repair.MSCs enrich the medium in which they are cultivated with a broad range of bioactive molecules,including growth factors,cytokines,chemokines,enzymes,nucleic acids,and extracellular vesicles that collectively compose the MSC secretome.An increasing number of pre-clinical studies suggest that delivering in vivo an MSC-conditioned medium(i.e.,the medium collected from MSC cultures after at least 3 days of exposure)exerts neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effects in a variety of neurological conditions.

Establishing reliable elevation differences is imperative for most geoscience and engineering applications.This work has traditionally been accomplished through spirit leveling techniques;however,surveyors have been utilizing satellite positioning systems in measuring height differences for more than a decade.Yet the quality of these heights needs to be evaluated in order to adopt them in different applications.In this article,we present the outcome of an accuracy assessment of height differences obtained with static and RTK surveys.Twenty control points with an average baseline length of 1 km were occupied with dual-frequency GNSS receivers for different time periods.Collected signals were processed using open-source software and verified with an online processing tool.Heights were estimated by processing the GPS and the GLONASS data individually,and combined(i.e.GNSS).Height differences were determined and compared with those measured by spirit levels and corrected through geoid models.Best results were achieved by combining GPS and GLONASS solutions for both static and RTK surveys.Solutions with either GPS or GLONASS satellites were comparable,but in most cases,the GPS solutions performed better.For the static surveys,longer occupation provided much accurate height differences.Inconsistencies among 10 different RTK surveys were minimum for the GPS+GLONASS solutions and worst for the GLONASS solutions.The ANOVA,LSD,F,and χ^(2) statistical tests confirmed our findings at the 95%confidence level.

对于汉语第二语言学习者来说,学习中会遇到有的词意义差不多,比如:“不”“没”“无”都表示否定,怎么分辨它们?这对学习者来说很难。第二语言学习者在积累词汇的过程中都要遇到近义词,近义词是对外汉语教学中的难点。如果一个生词有几个义项,教材在解释的时候可能无法找到与学习者母语完全符合的意思,这会带来很多问题。《今日汉语》是墨西哥国内常用的汉语教材,但这部教材没有专门的近义词辨析部分,这对学习者的汉语近义词习得是不利的。本文收集《今日汉语》教材中出现的近义词,并从近义词的西语解释角度,考察教材的近义词解释方面的情况,希望能为《今日汉语》教材在未来的修订出版中编入近义词辨析解释部分,为其他教材的编写与完善提供一定的依据和思路。本文通过生词表和补充生词表先收集意义关联、相近的生词,共得到119个生词,主要包括:动词、形容词、副词、名词与连词;再将119个生词归类,共统计得到43组近义词,分成:1)意义有差异(5组),2)用法、色彩或词性有差异(29组),3)汉语里不是近义词但有共同语素或者西语对应不当会使学生互换(9组)。本文先通过西语对应词的考察,再关注词性的差异和生词单独的解释,然后进一步找出汉-西语言翻译解释中,学生容易掌握哪些词,容易混淆哪些词,最后针对教材没有专门处理近义词辨析的问题,提出自己的建议:对教材中出现的43组近义词,建议编写者应该对构成近义词的生词作着重解释,并设计相应的辨析练习,还应该在课文中设置近义词区别的内容。为此,本文总结设计出汉语-西语等值词对应表和《今日汉语》应设近义词辨析的单元表,为相关教材的修订或编写提供思路和材料。由于时间的原因和笔者的汉语水平等影响,本文的研究还有待进一步深入,还可以结合偏误分析理论从学习者的角度对西班牙母语者汉语近义词的学习效果做探讨,从学习者的角度认识和思考教材处理近义词辨析的最好方法。

Kohn–Sham density functional theory(KS-DFT)is a powerful method to obtain key materials’properties,but the iterative solution of the KS equations is a numerically intensive task,which limits its application to complex systems.To address this issue,machine learning(ML)models can be used as surrogates to find the ground-state charge density and reduce the computational overheads.We develop a grid-centred structural representation,based on Jacobi and Legendre polynomials combined with a linear regression,to accurately learn the converged DFT charge density.This integrates into a ML pipeline that can return any density-dependent observable,including energy and forces,at the quality of a converged DFT calculation,but at a fraction of the computational cost.Fast scanning of energy landscapes and producing starting densities for the DFT self-consistent cycle are among the applications of our scheme.

Micronutrient nanoparticles(NPs)are currently an option for chemical fertilization and biostimulation in crops.However,there is little information on the phytotoxic or biostimulatory effects of NPs at low concentrations of some elements,such as Zn.In this study,the effect of low concentrations of Zn oxide(ZnO)NPs on germination,growth variables,and nutritional attributes of lettuce(Lactuca sativa L.)was evaluated in comparison to Zn sulfate.Romaine lettuce seeds were treated with ZnSO_(4)^(-)×7H_(2)O and ZnO NPs at Zn molar concentrations of 1×10^(−3),5×10^(−3),1×10^(−4),5×10^(−4),1×10^(−5),5×10^(−5),1×10^(−6),and 5×10^(−6).The seeds treated with ZnSO4−at 5×10^(−6)registered the highest radicle length,73%more than the control treatment.The seeds treated with ZnSO4−at 5×10^(−3)registered the lowest values,with 50%less than the control treatment.ZnO NPs at 5×10^(−6)significantly increased content of chlorophyll A and B and total phenolics.These results indicate the possible existence of a mechanism related to the intrinsic nanoparticle properties,especially at low concentrations.

The horn fly, Haematobia irritans, is a serious pest of cattle in North America. The control of horn flies has primarily relied on insecticides. However, the heavy use of insecticides has led to the development of insecticide resistance in horn flies. Novel methods to control horn flies are greatly needed. Transgenic technology is an effective tool to genetically modify insects and may lead to novel methods of pest control based on genomic approaches. Here we report apiggyBac-mediated transformation of the horn fly via electroporation. Transformation with a DsRed fluorescent marker protein coding region was verified by PCR analysis of individual fly bodies and pupal cases and sequencing of PCR products. However, Southern blot analysis failed to indicate the DsRed gene was integrated into the horn fly genome. Thus, the electroporation protocol may have caused the DsRed gene to be integrated into bacterial symbionts of the horn fly.

The global economic crisis that blew up at the end of 2006 in the United States has had extremely negative impacts on the social, political, and economic fields. The countries operating in the most affected macro areas—-the United States and Europe—-have put through the wringer the domestic trade relationships as well as the international ones, by injecting a chain reaction into the global economic scenario. However, there are countries that seem to be free from the economic and financial contagion overflowing over the past years, as they are moved by an "invincible projection toward the growth". The present study aims to analyze how much the main emerging market of China has been effectively involved in this vicious circle. More specifically, the study intends to propose an empirical analysis on the real connection between the macroeconomic data and the strong structure of the Chinese publicly listed companies. This paper investigates the prediction of failure among 3,220 Chinese publicly traded companies (listed companies) during the global crisis period. By analysing the financial accounting data over the past seven years (2008 to 2014), the emerging market score (EMS) has been adopted in order to investigate the impact of the crisis on financial distress in the main emerging market of China. The results confirm the following hypotheses: On one hand, the great majority of companies have not been suffering the downturn, since 71.93% of the entire samples present no risk of financial distress during the global crisis; on the other hand, only 6.18% have a reasonable risk of financial distress.

Electrorotation (ER) is a technique allowing the characterization of the surface properties of a variety of supra-molecular aggregates and living cultured cells as well as cellular organelles and biological materials in general. In particular, this technique allows measuring two important physical parameters of the cell membrane: specific capacitance and specific conductance. These parameters are strictly related to the structure/function relationships of the biological membrane;ER becomes thus a powerful means to investigate a number of phenomena involving the membrane integrity. These phenomena may originate from treatments with exogenous molecules and/or from pathological effects. Concerning these aspects, the study of the transfer of exogenous material (i.e. cat-anionic vesicles or liposomes) across the cell membrane assumes a high importance. This review is focused on the physical functioning principles of ER and on the quantitative analysis of the experimental measurements. This work also reports on different fields of application of ER with particular reference to data obtained in our laboratory. The investigation of the alterations of the cytoplasmic membrane function, as evidenced by this strategy, will be illustrated in detail.
