AIM： To evaluate Pronto Dry examination in patients with dyspepsia. METHODS： The study was conducted in patients with dyspepsia who underwent endoscopic examination in several endoscopic centers of several cities in Indonesia from January 2003 until April 2004. Biopsies for histopathologic examination were fixed with formalin and sent to Histopathologic Department to be analyzed and confirm the presence of Hpylori infection. If Hpylori was found positive, the density was calculated semi quantitatively. Histopathologic examination from gastric biopsy samples was interpreted based on the updated Sydney system classification. RESULTS： Of 550 patients, 309 （56%） were male and 241 （44%） were female with ages ranging from 15 to 82 years. Mean age was 44.98 ± 14.46 years. Mean age of male patients was 44.35 ± 13.85 years and mean age of female patients was 45.78± 15.19 years. Evaluation of endoscopic results showed gastric ulcer in 36 cases （6.5%） and duodenal ulcer in 20 cases （3.6%）. Normal endoscopic finding was found in 45 cases （8.2%） and minimal disorder of gastritis and duodenitis were found in 246 cases （44.7%）. One case of gastric cancer was identified. Of 56 cases which were positive based on the criteria used, 39 patients were positive with Pronto Dry and 17 patients were negative with Pronto Dry. Overall sensitivity and specificity of Pronto Dry were 69.7% and 95.7% respectively. Positive predictive value was 66.1% and negative predictive value was 96.4% and overall accurate rate was 92.9%. CONCLUSION： Pronto Dry seems promising as a diagnostic tool to detect Hpy/ori more rapidly and accurately.

Effect of DNA damage caused by cryopreservation of spermatozoa using a modified Single cell gell electrophoresis in the freshwater catfish Pangasianodon hypophthalmus(Fowler,1936)

Objective:To detect the integrity of sperm DNA in the catfish Pangasianodon hypophthalmus cryopreserved with Hanks balanced salt solution,5%-30%dimethyl acetamide(DMA)using the single-cell gel electrophoresis in order to test how sperm cryopreservation affected nuclear DNA ***:Electrophoresis was conducted for 60 min at 130 mA and 15 *** comet images were analyzed using software CometScore 1.5,and parameters such as comet length,tail length and percentage DNA in the tail were *** the comet rate and damage coefficient were ***:There were no significant differences in motility,comet rate and damage coefficient between fresh sperm and cryopreserved sperm stored in 5%,10%,15%and 20%DMA,while the sperm cryopreserved with 25%and 30%DMA had lower motility,higher comet length and damage coefficients than those of fresh ***:There was positive correlation between comet rate of cryopreserved sperm and the concentration of *** toxicity of cryoprotectant is the main factor for DNA damage in cryopreserved sperm.

Atomic layers are sought after for molecular sensing due to their available high surface interaction area,and different types of monolayers are attempted for sensing in the recent ***,their chemical stability towards these molecules is questioned in recent times and alternate methods need to be developed to circumvent such issues,while maintaining high ***,the van der Waals(vdWs)stacks of molybdenum disulfide(MoS_(2))and graphene are shown for their stable electrochemical sensing towards ascorbic acid(aa)and dopamine(DA)-two important *** is known to chemically react with MoS_(2) leading to unstable sensing platform,while here the graphene coverage is shown to protect the MoS_(2) even from low-energy plasma exposure while keeping the same high *** proving the graphene-based protection of the sensor,such a sensing platform is shown for its applicability in DA sensing,where it is found to give a linear response in a wide range of concentrations(2.5 to 600μmol·L^(−1))and even selective sensing in the presence of *** a stack is found to be not merely giving protection to the beneath MoS_(2) layer but also the inter-layer charge transfer due to work function differences being beneficial in bringing fast and high sensitivity to the next-generation sensors and point-of-care devices.
