AIm:To determine the molecular mechanisms involved in experimental hepatic fibrosis prevention by caffeine(CFA).mETHODS:Liver fibrosis was induced in Wistar rats by intraperitoneal thioacetamide or bile duct ligation and they were concomitantly treated with CFA(15 mg/kg per day).Fibrosis and inflammatory cell infiltrate were evaluated and classified by Knodell *** infiltrate was quantified by immunohistochemistry(anti-CD11b).Gene expression was analyzed by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction for collagenⅠ?(Col-1),connective tissue growth factor(CTGF),transforming growth factorβ1(TGF-β1),tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α),interleukin-1(IL-1),IL-6,superoxide dismutase(SOD)and catalase(CAT).Activation of Nrf2 and Snail-1 was analyzed by ***-αexpression was proved by enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay,CAT activity was performed by ***:CFA treatment diminished fibrosis index in treated *** Knodell index showed both lower fibrosis and *** of profibrogenic genes CTGF,Col-1 and TGF-β1 and proinflammatory genes TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-1 was substantially diminished with CFA treatment with less CD11b positive *** lower values of transcriptional factor Snail-1 were detected in CFA treated rats compared with cirrhotic rats without treatment;in contrast Nrf2was increased in the presence of *** of SOD and CAT was greater in animals treated with CFA showing a strong correlation between mRNA expression and enzyme ***:Our results suggest that CFA inhibits the transcriptional factor Snail-1,down-regulating profibrogenic genes,and activates Nrf2 inducing antioxidant enzymes system,preventing inflammation and fibrosis.

This empirical study focused on investigating the perceived trust surrogated by a number of hy-pothesized factors and its effect on the choice of method of payment. The data were collected using a questionnaire, as the instrument for the primary data collection, with total collected back responses of 214 from customers of markaVIP. Structural equation modeling technique was used to fully analyze the data in order to determine what level of the relationship between the constituting factors of the perceived trust and the method of payment. The main findings were related to confirming the seven main hypotheses of the research that were related to testing if some factors were important to forming perceived trust by customers. Four factors (reputation, security, familiarity, and ease of use) were found to have a positive effect and the remaining three were not (privacy, size and usefulness). In addition, having perceived trust meant no preference to any method of payment by the customers.

metformin(met)is a drug developed for the treatment of patients with typeⅡ ***,met estimation in pharmaceutical formulations and human fluids has gained a growing *** extend requisite data that can be used to assessment of met quantitatively based on charge-transfer(CT)complexation,the present study describes the synthesis and characterization of CT complexes that formed between drug met and the organicπ-acceptors picric acid(PA),chloranilic acid(CLA),chloranil(CHL),7,7',8,8'-tetracyanoquinodimethane(TCNQ),and dichlorodicyanobenzoquinone(DDQ).The properties of the formed CT complexes were investigated by elemental,spectral(UV-visible,IR,and Raman spectroscopies),thermal(TG)and morphological(SEm)*** results indicated that the complexation of met with either PA or CLA acceptors occurs through proton transfer interaction,whereas its complexation with CHL,TCNQ,or DDQ acceptors occurs through n→π*interaction.

Background The breathhold contrast-enhanced three-dimensional magnetic resonance angiography （mRA） using Tl-weighted gradient-echo imaging sequence is the standard technique for mRA of the thorax. However, this technique is not desirable for certain patients with respiratory insufficiency, serious renal impairment, or allergy to contrast agents. The objective of this study was to optimize and evaluate a non-contrast-enhanced free-breathing pulmonary mRA protocol at 3 Tesla. methods The time-of-flight protocol was based on a two-dimensional Tl-weighted turbo field echo sequence with slice-selective inversion recovery and magnetization transfer preparation together with respiratory navigator gating, cardiac gating, and parallel imaging. Optimal values for time of inversion delay, flip angle and slice thickness were experimentally determined and used for all subjects. Results Excellent pulmonary mRA images, in which the 7th order branches of pulmonary arteries could be reliably identified, were obtained in the 12 free-breathing healthy volunteers. TI of -300 ms provides the best suppression of background thoracic and cardiac muscles and effective inflow enhancement. With increasing flip angle, the pulmonary vessels gradually brightened and exhibited optimal contrast at 20°-30°. The 2 mm slice thickness and 0.5 mm slice overlap is suitable for visualization of the peripheral pulmonary vessel. Conclusions The mRA protocol at 3 Tesla may have clinical significance for pulmonary vascular imaging in patients who are not available for contrast-enhanced 3D mRA and CT angiography examination or are unable to sustain a long breath-hold.

Simulating Long Waves in a Coifs Harbour 3D Physical model Using Short Wave Spectra

This paper presents examples of field data of extreme seiche waves measured at Coffs Harbour by mHL and describes the generation and measuring methodology to detect and reduce seiche agitation in the Coifs Harbour boat ramp using a 3D physical model. The paper also discusses the techniques in investigating a short wave problem of stability in the same model where a long wave is simulated. Waves offshore of Coffs Harbour at 80 m depth have been recorded by mHL for a period of over 30 years. Long waves have been simultaneously measured in the harbour over a period of a decade. These data enabled the model to be verified on two dates （4/6/12, 5/9/14） when high long waves were recorded at the boat ramp harbour under storm and non-storm conditions. Long waves are generated in harbours due to group bounded long wave and surf beat or edge waves. The paper presents methodologies of generating long waves both numerically and by using physical models, and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of these generation techniques. Numerical modelling carried out using long period regular waves in a previous investigation predicted reductions up to 50% due to change of planform of the boat ramp harbour where an area next to the boat ramp was excavated and roughness elements introduced to dampen long periods. The 3D physical model simulated a 25% decrease in the long wave energy in the boat ramp when a suitable change in the planform was made. A 3D undistorted model of scale 1：58 was used in the investigation.
