Prediction of blast-induced flyrock in Indian limestone mines using neural networks

Frequency and scale of the blasting events are increasing to boost limestone production. Mines areapproaching close to inhabited areas due to growing population and limited availability of land resourceswhich has challenged the management to go for safe blasts with special reference to opencast *** study aims to predict the distance covered by the flyrock induced by blasting using artificial neuralnetwork （ANN） and multi-variate regression analysis （MVRA） for better assessment. Blast design andgeotechnical parameters, such as linear charge concentration, burden, stemming length, specific charge,unconfined compressive strength （UCS）, and rock quality designation （RQD）, have been selected as inputparameters and flyrock distance used as output parameter. ANN has been trained using 95 datasets ofexperimental blasts conducted in 4 opencast limestone mines in India. Thirty datasets have been used fortesting and validation of trained neural network. Flyrock distances have been predicted by ANN, MVRA,as well as further calculated using motion analysis of flyrock projectiles and compared with the observeddata. Back propagation neural network （BPNN） has been proven to be a superior predictive tool whencompared with MVRA. 2014 Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Analysis of Dielectric and Electro-optic Responses of Nanomaterials Doped Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal Mixture

Dielectric and rotational viscosity measurements of a multi-component ferroelectric liquid crystal mixture were performed by adding a small concentration （0.01 wt%） of silica and multi walled carbon nanotubes （MWCNTs）. Liquid crystals turn out to be outstanding hosts for nanomaterials. A remarkable increase in the rotational viscosity was noticed in CNT doped system as compared to silica doped same liquid crystal system. Comparison of dielectric studies shows higher value of permittivity and dielectric losses for silica-doped sample than those of CNT doped sample. The results have been interpreted both experimentally and theoretically.

A NEW INTEGRAL TRANSFORM AND ITS APPLICATIONS

In the present paper, the authors introduce a new integral transform which yields a number of potentially useful （known or new） integral transfoms as its special cases. Many fundamental results about this new integral transform, which are established in this paper, in- clude （for example） existence theorem, Parseval-type relationship and inversion formula. The relationship between the new integral transform with the H-function and the H-transform are characterized by means of some integral identities. The introduced transform is also used to find solution to a certain differential equation. Some illustrative examples are also given.

In an effort to develop effective alternative strategies that increase the therapeu-tic efficacy and minimize the systemic toxicity of chemotherapeutic agents,moreefforts are being directed towards the investigation of dietary supplements andother phytotherapeutic agents for their synergistic efficacy in combination withanticancer *** such agent is silibinin,which has shown promisingchemopreventive and anticancer effects in various in vitro and in vivo *** present review summarizes the effects of the combination of silibinin andchemotherapeutic drugs on the growth inhibition,cell cycle regulation,andapoptosis induction in prostate,breast,and lung cancer ***,theresults indicate a synergistic effect of silibinin on growth inhibition,reversal ofchemoresistance,apoptosis induction,and a strong increase in G2-M checkpointarrest when given in combination with these *** results are highlysignificant with respect to the combined chemotherapy approach,wherein thecriteria for combination is that the response has to be synergistic and that thedrugs should not share common mechanisms of resistance and not overlap intheir major side-effects.

Prediction of rock fragmentation in a fiery seam of an open-pit coal mine in India

Spontaneous combustion of coal increases the temperature in adjoining overburden strata of coal seams and poses a challenge when loading *** condition,known as hot-hole blasting,is dangerous due to the increased possibility of premature explosions in loaded ***,it is crucial to load the blastholes with an appropriate amount of explosives within a short period to avoid premature detonation caused by high temperatures of ***,it will help achieve the desired fragment *** study tried to ascertain the most influencial variables of mean fragment size and their optimum values adopted for blasting in a fiery *** on blast design,rock mass,and fragmentation of 100 blasts in fiery seams of a coal mine were collected and used to develop mean fragmentation prediction models using soft computational *** coefficient of determination(R^(2)),root mean square error(RMSE),mean absolute error(MAE),mean square error(MSE),variance account for(VAF)and coefficient of efficiency in percentage(CE)were calculated to validate the *** indicates that the random forest algorithm(RFA)outperforms the artificial neural network(ANN),response surface method(RSM),and decision tree(DT).The values of R^(2),RMSE,MAE,MSE,VAF,and CE for RFA are 0.94,0.034,0.027,0.001,93.58,and 93.01,*** parametric sensitivity analyses(MPSAs)of the input variables showed that the Schmidt hammer rebound number and spacing-to-burden ratio are the most influencial variables for the blast fragment *** analysis was finally used to define the best blast design variables to achieve optimum fragment size from *** optimum factor values for RFA of S/B,ld/B and ls/ld are 1.03,1.85 and 0.7,respectively.

Compared with bare-metal stents (BMS),drug-eluting stems (DES)have shown better clinical outcomes for pa- tients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) by inhibition of neo-intirnal hyperplasia.[1]However,early- generation DES produced late thrombotic events,more than l-year,by delaying arterial healing of stented vessels,[2-5] New-generation DES have been developed'with thinner stent struts,more biocompatible polymer coatings for drug release,and a variety of antiproliferative agents with similar or superior anti-restenotic efficacy.[6]This development has led to a significant improvement in the efficacy and safety of new-generation DES,and consistently lower rates of very late stent thrombosis (VLST).[7,8]In fact,use of new-ge- neration DES is the standard treatment in contemporary PCI practice.[9]

0ctogenarians represent the fastest growing group of patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI),now constituting more than one in five patients treated with PCI in real-world practice.[1,2]Comparing coronary lesion characteristics of patients aged<≥80 years to those≥80 years undergoing PCI,the octogenarians have a higher prevalence of calcified and ostial lesions,tortuous coronary anatomy,multi-vessel disease and left main stem(LMS)stenosis.⑶Furthermore,they often have greater ischemic burden than their younger counterparts,suggesting an even greater benefit following revascularization.

This article presents some new results on the class SLMα of functions that are analytic in the open unit disc U = {z ：｜z｜〈 1} satisfying the conditions that f（0） =0, f＇（0）= 1, and α（1＋zf＇＇（z）/f＇（z）＋（1-α）zf＇（z）/f（z）∈p（U）for all z ∈ U, where αis a real number and p（z）=1＋r^2z^2/1-Tz-T^2z^2（z∈ U）. The number T = （1 -√5）/2 is such that T^2 = 1 ＋ T. The class SFLMa introduced by J. Dziok, R.k. raina, and J. Sokot [3, Appl. Math. Comput. 218 （2011）, 996-1002] is closely related to the classes of starlike and convex functions. The article deals with several ideas and techniques used in geometric function theory and differential subordinations theory.

Fuelwood assessment at the micro-watershed level:a case study in Garhwal Himalaya,India

Biomass,as fuelwood,is one of the major sources of energy in rural areas,especially in the mountainous regions of the *** the increasing human population exerts more pressure on the forest thereby inducing an adverse effect on the sustainability of the ecosystem,which consequently causes fuelwood crisis at a local level,this crisis is spatio-temporal in ***,the major objective of this study is to assess the sustainability of fuelwood at different probable scenarios at a micro watershed *** present study was conducted in the Phakot watershed,the Tehri Garhwal district of central Himalaya in India,during *** on the vegetation composition in the study area,the net primary productivity(NPP)value of the Oak forest,and mixed oak and sal forests,was used for the quantification of fuelwood availability in evergreen and deciduous forests,*** fuelwood demand was calculated on the basis of seasonal fuelwood consumption *** probable permutations for availability-demand scenarios assuming the existence of high(H),low(L)and average(A)conditions were analyzed for evaluating the *** available annual harvestable fuelwood in the watershed is in the minimum and maximum ranges of 2283.28 to 4066.00 tons,respectively,per year whereas it has a demand of 110.76 tons as the minimum to 3659 tons as the maximum *** shows that in the current availabilitydemand scenario,the watershed does not have fuelwood crisis in the present situation but needs to maintain the sustainability of the *** on our study,it is concluded that,globally,more spatio-temporal study is required to understand the issues at the local level.

Globally,the risk of colorectal cancer（CRC） as well as the incidence of mortality associated with CRC is ***,it is imperative that we look at alternative approaches involving intake of non-toxic natural dietary/non-dietary agents,for the prevention of *** ultimate goal of this approach is to reduce the incidence of pre-neoplastic adenomatous polyps and prevent their progression to more advanced forms of CRC,and use these natural agents as a safe intervention strategy during the clinical course of this deadly *** the years,pre-clinical studies have shown that silibinin（a flavonolignan isolated from the seeds of milk thistle,Silybum marianum） has strong preventive and therapeutic efficacy against various epithelial cancers,including *** focus of the present review is to provide a comprehensive tabular summary,categorically for an easy accessibility and referencing,pertaining to the efficacy and associated mechanisms of silibinin against CRC growth and progression.
