Diagnosis of Toxoplasma gondii infection in pregnant women using automated chemiluminescence and quantitative real time PCR

Objective: To identify serodiagnosis and quantification of Toxoplasma gondii(T. gondii) infection among pregnant women in Salmas, northwest of Iran. Methods: In this crosssectional study, 276 blood samples were collected from pregnant women referred to the health care centers in Salmas city. The demographic variables were also recorded. Titers of antiToxoplasma IgM and IgG antibodies(Ab) were determined using the chemiluminescence immunoassay. Quantitative real-time PCR targeting the T. gondii repeated element gene was also performed on the blood sample. Results: Out of all, 19.92%(55/276) and 2.17%(6/276) patients were seropositive for anti-Toxoplasma IgG and IgM Ab, respectively. Moreover, the presence of T. gondii DNA was observed in 12.31%(34/276) blood samples. A significant relationship was observed between the IgG Ab seropositivity and contact with the cat as a risk factor(P=0.022). Conclusions: The seroprevalence rate of T. gondii infection in pregnant women is relatively low. Consequently, the seronegative pregnant women are at risk, and a considerable rate of positive blood samples for the presence of pa.a.ite's DNA should not be ignored. Besides, quantitative real-time PCR could be considered as an accurate method for diagnosis of acute toxoplasmosis especially when the precise results are of the most importance in pregnancy. Limiting contact with cats is also suggested for pregnant women.

A Comparison of the Best Place to Fix Endotracheal Tubes for Men and Women When Men and Women Are in the Same Height

Background: Comparison of the tracheal tube depth over the same body height of men and women based upon intubation depth markings. Methods: Kashan University of Medical Sciences ethics committee approved the study and written informed consent was taken for each patient. Patients undergoing surgery requiring general anesthesia with oro-tracheal intubation were included in a prospective observational study. After induction of general anesthesia, the endotracheal tube was secured at the point at which the cuff was just below the vocal cord on laryngoscopy. Results: In a statistical study of 682 intubated patients which consisted of 499 women and 183 men, 28 cases of laryngoscopic view grade III and IV were excluded from the study. The measurement markings on the ETT at the level of right corner of the mouth were 20.65 ± 0.13 and 18.52 ± 0.08 for men and women respectively (CI 95%). Patient’s height has a meaningful correlation with the measurement of the fixation point of the ETT. Pearson correlation coefficient between the securing point of the tube and height was 0.2 and 0.357 for men and women respectively. In most cases of men and women of the same height, Mann-Whitney U test rejected the hypothesis that the tube can be fixed in the particular point. Conclusions: In general, men are taller than women. Comparing the fixation depth of the tube, even when man and woman have the same body height, the endotracheal tube might be placed in a deeper level for men rather than women.

In this article, Yuka.a.interaction is used to study the relativistic spin-1/2 particles and obtain their energy levels. The role of Yuka.a.potential on the spin and pseudospin symmetry solution is investigated systematically by solving the Dirac equation with attractive sca.a. S(r) and repulsive vector V(r) potentials. Bound state spectrum and wave functions of Yuka.a.potential are obtained. It is found that the energy eigenvalues strongly depend on the potential pa.a.eters.

目的：评价自体结膜角巩膜缘移植术治疗原发性翼状胬肉的有效性。方法：原发性翼状胬肉患者15例（15眼），接受自体结膜角巩膜缘移植术。切除翼状胬肉后，植片的角膜缘部分与翼状胬肉切除处的角膜缘对位缝合，植片的上皮面向上。纤维血管组织在原翼状胬肉区遮盖角膜1mm以上定为复发。结果：随访平均8mo，所有的患者既无一例复发也无并发症发生。结论：单纯翼状胬肉切除联合自体结膜角巩膜缘移植是一种治疗原发性翼状胬肉安全有效的手术方法。

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is a new viral disease that has caused a pandemic in the *** to the lack of vaccines and definitive treatment,preventive behaviors are the only way to overcome the ***,the present study aimed to determine the preventive behaviors from the disease based on constructs of the health belief ***:: In the present cross-sectional study during March 11–16,2020,750 individuals in Golestan Province of Iran were included in the study using the convenience sampling and they completed the questionnaires through *** scores were calculated using the confirmatory factor *** effects of different factors were sepa.a.ely investigated using the univariate a.a.yses,including students sample t-test,ANOVa.a.d simple linear ***,the effective factors were examined by the multiple regression a.a.ysis at a significant level of 0.05 and through Mplus 7 and SPSS ***: The participants’mean age was 33.9±9.45 years;and 57.1%of them had associate and bachelor's *** regression indicated that the mean score of preventive behavior from COVID-19 was higher in females than males,and greater in urban dwellers than rural ***,one unit increase in the standard deviation of factor scores of self-efficacy and perceived benefits increased the scores of preventive behavior from COVID-19 by 0.22 and 0.17 units *** the contrary,one unit increase in the standard deviation of factor score of perceived barriers and fa.a.istic beliefs decreased the scores of the preventive behavior from COVID-19 by 0.36 and 0.19 units ***: Results: of the present study indicated that female gender,perceived barriers,perceived self-efficacy,fa.a.istic beliefs,perceived interests,and living in city had the greatest preventive behaviors from COVID-19 *** interventions were necessary among males and villagers.

This experiment was designed to investigate leptin receptors (Ob-R and Ob-Rb) mRNA in ram epididymal spermatozoa by RT-PCR. Ten testes were obtained from a.a.toir and epididymal spermatozoa recovery was performed. To purify spermatozoa, motile sperm were isolated by the swim-up procedure. Total RNA was isolated from epididymal spermatozoa.a.d placental cotyledon, as a positive control, and then they were purified. Specific bands (98 and 308 bp) for Ob-R and Ob-Rb were detected after RT-PCR in both epididymal spermatozoa.a.d placental cotyledon. We may conclude that Ob-R and Ob-Rb mRNa.a.e present in ram epididymal spermatozoa.a.d leptin perhaps exerts physiological effects, as already demonstrated in human.

Developing a Novel Method for Road Ha.a.dous Segment Identification Based on Fuzzy Reasoning and GIS

Roads are one of the most important infrastructures in any country. One problem on road based transportation networks is accident. Current methods to identify of high potential segments of roads for accidents are based on statistical approaches that need statistical da.a.of accident occurrences over an extended period of time so this cannot be applied to newly-built roads. In this research a new approach for road ha.a.dous segment identification (RHSI) is introduced using Geospatial Information System (GIS) and fuzzy reasoning. In this research among all factors that usually play critical roles in the occurrence of traffic accidents, environmental factors and roadway design are considered. Using incomplete da.a.the consideration of uncertainty is herein investigated using fuzzy reasoning. This method is performed in part of Iran's transit roads (Kohin-Loshan) for less expensive means of a.a.yzing the risks and road safety in Iran. Comparing the results of this approach with existing statistical methods shows advantages when da.a.are uncertain and incomplete, specially for recently built transportation roadways where statistical da.a.are limited. Results show in some instances accident locations are somewhat displaced from the segments of highest risk and in few sites ha.a.dous segments are not determined using traditional statistical methods.

目的:研究重组组织型纤维蛋白酶原激活剂(tPA)对于治疗白内障手术后的纤维蛋白膜的作用。方法:选取白内障人工晶状体植入术后中度至重度纤维蛋白膜15例,行25μgtPA前房注射。同时给与持续的局部激素和睫状肌麻痹剂治疗,以及常规的裂隙灯检查和眼压监测。结果:在前房注射tPA的15眼中,其中9眼(60.0%)在2h后纤维蛋白膜完全溶解,11眼(73.3%)在1d内完全溶解。3眼内注射tPA几天后纤维蛋白膜复发。注射tPA24h后可观察到前房反应(P=0.54)和角膜水肿(P=0.083)增加。裂隙灯和眼压检查未发现明显的毒副作用。实验得到预期的稳定结果。结论:前房注射tPA用于治疗白内障手术后出现的纤维蛋白膜具有安全有效的作用。由于病例数量较少,需要进一步观察。
