Fluorescence dynamics of interactions between polyamide PyPyPyβDp and DNA

The photophysical properties of the polyamide PyPyPyβDp (PPP) were investigated by means of steady-state absorption and fluorescence spectroscopies, as well as time-resolved fluo-rescence spectroscopy. It was found that the excited-state properties of PPP are very sensitive to solvents. In TKMC buffer PPP exhibited weak fluorescence with a decay time constant of 16 ps, while with the decrease of the solvent polarity PPP showed the blue-shifted peak position, increased inten-sity and lengthened life-time for its fluorescence behavior. In the presence of calf thymus DNA, it was observed that the fluorescence intensity was enhanced and the fluorescence lifetime increased from 16 to 3. ps for PPP, which verified that PPP bound into the minor groove of DNA duplex.

Magnetic reconnection at the high-latitude magnetopause is studied using 2.5-dimensional Hall-MHD simulation. Concentric flow vortices and magnetic islands appear when both Hall effect and sheared flow are considered. Plasma mixing across the magnetopause occurs in the presence of the flow vortices. Reconnected structure generated in the vicinity of the subsolar point changes its geometry with increasing flow shear while moving to high latitudes. In the presence of flow shear, with the Hall-MHD reconnection a higher reconnection rate than with the traditional MHD is obtained. The out-of-plane components of flow and magnetic field produced by the Hall current are redistributed under the action of the flow shear, which makes the plasma transport across the boundaries more complicated. The simulation results provide some help in understanding the dynamic processes at the high latitude magnetopause.

Increased exchange rate of histone H1 on chromatin by exogenous myo-genin expression

To explore the molecular mechanism of chromatin remodeling involved in the regulation of transcriptional activation of specific genes by a myogenic regulatory factor Myogenin, we used NIH3.3.fibroblasts with a stably integrated Hl.l-GFP fusion protein to monitor histone HI movement directly by fluorescence recovery after photobleaching （FRAP） in living cells. The observation from FRAP experiments with myogenin transfected fibroblasts showed that the exchange rate of histone HI in chromatin was obviously increased, indicating that forced expression of exogenous Myogenin can induce chromatin remodeling. The hyper-acetylation of histones H3.and H4 from myogenin transfected fibroblasts was detected by triton-acid-urea （TAU）/SDS （2-D） electrophoresis and Western blot with specific antibodies against acetylated N-termini of histones H3.and H4. Platelet-derived growth factor receptor-β in myocyte was upregulated by angiotensin Ⅱ

To observe the regulation of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) receptor-p in myocyte stimulated by angiotensin Ⅱ (AngII) at both integrated and cellular levels and reveal the signal transduction mechanism in cell, two kidneys, one clip (2K1C) renal hypertension were performed by placing a sliver clip around the left renal artery. Blood pressure and the ratio of left ventricular weight to body weight were measured at 4 and 8 weeks after operation. The content of Angll in heart was detected by radioimmunology assay; the protein level of PDGF receptor-β in heart was measured by Western blot analysis. The alteration of PDGF receptor-β stimulated by Angll and several inhibitors was observed on cultured neonatal rat ventricular myocyte (NRVM). The content of Angll in heart of 2K1C renal hypertensive rat at 4 and 8 weeks after operation was increased. Compared with sham group, 4 and 8 weeks after operation, PDGF receptor-p in heart of 2K1C group was upregulated by 100.3. and 127.1% (P < 0.05),

Recursive Least Squares Estimator with Multiple Exponential Windows in Vector Autoregression

In the parameter tracking of time-varying systems, the ordinary method is weighted least squares with the rectangular window or the exponential window. In this paper we propose a new kind of sliding window called the multiple exponential window, and then use it to fit time-varying Gaussian vector autoregressive models. The asymptotic bias and covariance of the estimator of the parameter for time-invariant models are also derived. Simulation results show that the multiple exponential windows have better parameter tracking effect than rectangular windows and exponential ones.

The aim of this study was to observe the effects of urotensin Ⅱ (UII) on production of endothelin (ET) in rat aortic vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC).
