Effect of SPM Scanning Range on the Micromorphology Parameters

The surface of a compact disk is analyzed by using SPM and the quantitative micromorphology analysissoftware SPMIAS developed by the author. Images at the same position but with different scanning ranges areobtained under the same experimental conditions. Micromorphology parameters are calculated and compared, andthe relationship between the changing of the scanning range and the changing of micromorphology parameters issummarized.

In order to explore the disputed issue concerning the tectonic affinity ofthe ancient ocean mantle of North Qilian Mountains (NQM), geochemical and Sr, Nd, Pb isotopiccompositions of pillow basalts of the Yushigou Ophiolite (YSGO) suite from NQM have been analyzedsystematically. The pillow basalts exhibit tholeiitic characteristics, with flatchondrite-normalized REE patterns ((La/Yb)_N = 0.98—1.2.). They display no Nb, Ta, Zr, Hf negativeanomalies, and show MORB features in 2.b-Zr/4-Y and Ti/100-Zr-YX3 tectonic discrimination *** results indicate that the Yushigou ophiolite is most likely to be formed in a mid-ocean ridgeor mature back-arc basin. Their isotopic data show a relatively broad and enriched ^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr(0.70509 — 0.70700), restricted ^(143)Nd/^(144)Nd (0.512.55-0.512.78). Pb isotopes are in the rangeof ^(2.6)Pb/^(2.4)Pb (18.054-2..562., ^(2.7)Pb/^(2.4)Pb (15.537-15.743) and ^(2.8)Pb/^(2.4)Pb(38.068-38.530). These isotopic data imply that the basalts originated from the depleted mantle(DMM), with the involvement of enriched mantle components (mainly EMII). Geochemical comparisonsbetween the basalts in YSGO and the MORB-type basalts of ophiolite suites occurring in the knownancient Tethyan tectonic domain indicate that the ancient oceanic mantle represented by YSGO suiteforming in early Paleozoic in the North Qilian Moutains is very similar to the Tethyan mantle inboth trace elements and isotopic compositions. The North Qilian Mountains should be a part of theTethyan tectonic domain in early Paleozoic. This further implies that the Tethyan tectonic domaincan be deduced to early Paleozoic in the study area, which will be helpful to discussing thetectonic affinity and evolution of the North Qilian Mountains.

Scanning Probe Microscope (SPM) has great advantages in quantitative micromorphology analysis because of its conveniencein obtaining micromorphology information of materials on nanometer or atomic scale under control of a computer. Based on an established SPM quantitative micromorphology analysis model, an SPM image analysis software Which can calculate both two- and three-dimensional micromorphology parameters is developed.

The coherent-light-driven tunneling in double quantum wells has been *** electrons are coupled to a system of phonons and subjected to the two beams of coherentlyoptical waves. By adopting a gauge to both the external field and the phonon field, the phonon fieldoperators in the Schrodinger equations are eliminated. In this way, an expression of the tunnelingcurrent is conveniently derived considering the relaxation effect. It is shown that under theintense laser field, the tunneling current oscillates rapidly with time at low temperature. Theduration of the oscillations is related to the temperature. By adjusting the phase difference of thetwo light-beams, the oscillation frequency can be modulated.

A boxcar integrator is described which is suitable for the low-repetition-rate signal processing. This boxcar integrator, named fixed-interval mode boxcar integrator, is able to reject harmonics other than the first harmonic component. It can also decrease the effective time constant In many situations, the antialiasing filter with narrow bandwidth will cause distortion of the input signal. The fixed-interval mode boxcar integrator with suitable gate width can achieve relative high performance without signal distortion because the bandwidth of its antialiasing filter can be wider than that in the fixed-Point boxcar integrator. ms boxcar integrator is used as majn part of signalprocessing circult in the low resisance measurement of inductive load coil. The results of experiments show that the fixed-interval boxcar integrator is suitable for low-repetition-rate use.

The existing forms of N and Al in HSLC (high strength low carbon) steel produced by TSCR (thin slab casting and rolling process), the precipitation thermodynamics and kinetics of AlN, and its effects on structure and mechanical property are studied. The experimental results show that only a small quantity of nitrogen is com- bined into AlN in HSLC steel produced by TSCR and most of the nitrogen in steel is still free nitrogen. Aluminum-nitride is mainly precipitated during the period of slow air cooling after coiling, but not during rolling and water cooling. The acid-soluble aluminum has no obvious effect on the grain size and mechanical property of HSLC steel produced by TSCR whose acid-soluble aluminum content is 0.005%―0.043%. The precipitation of AlN is not the main cause of grain refinement of HSLC steel produced by TSCR, nor is AlN the dominating precipitate that has precipitation strengthening effect. The nano nitrides are not pure AlN, but have complex compositions.

There are several methods for rendering fractal images based on IFS (Iterated Function System) in computer graphic; but one concern of the computer graphic community has been the efficiency rendering algorithms. The invariant measures arising from IFSP (Iterate Function System with Probability) using the probabilistic algorithm are also known as chaos games. The role of these probabilities to generate the image of the attractor has been investigated using a multi-fractal analysis. The conventional choice of probability associated with each set /S/ to generate the attractor in least time possible is introduced, then a new method based on the self similarity and multi-fractal analysis is presented. The efficiency of the new method has been proved over the conventional method.

Based on the phase diagrams, measured activities and the annexation principle, the calculating models of mass action concentrations for Cd-Pb, Pb-Sb and Cd-Sb binary as well as Cd-Pb-Sb ternary metallic melts have been formulated. The results of calculation both agree with practice and obey the mass action law. This in turn testifies that the models formulated can reflect the structural reality of corresponding melts and the annexation principle is applicable to these melts.

The important role of coefficientsin model formulation is shown from our experience. The mass transfer coefficients of the slag-metalreactions and the gas-metal reactions are discussed referring to the flow conditions near theinterface. The influence of the surface-active species on the mass transfer and the interfacialreaction is also discussed briefly.
