Physics opportunity in the charm and τ energy region calls for higher luminosity of the beijing Electron-Positron Collider (BEPC).The BEPC has experienced continuous improvement since its completion in ***,as a major upgrading project of the BEPC,aims at enhancing its luminosity of factor 30–100,following the principle of "one machine,two purposes" as adopted in BEPC,so that both high energy physics and synchrotron radiation experiments can be carried out with *** the BEPC to BEPCII,the double-ring scheme with multi-bunch e +-e-collision in the large crossing angle was studied in comparison with the single-ring pretzel *** the dedicated synchrotron radiation operation,artful "bridges" are designed to connect two halves of the outer ring in both the southern and the northern crossing *** paper reviews the studies on the BEPC upgrade from pretzel to double-ring structure of BEPCII.

Emission projection and marginal abatement cost curves(MACs) are the central components of any assessment of future carbon market, such as CDM (clean development mechanism) potentials, carbon quota price etc. However, they are products of very complex, dynamic systems driven by forces like population growth, economic development, resource endowments, technology progress and so on. The modeling approaches for emission projection and MACs evaluation were summarized, and some major models and their results were compared. Accordingly, reduction and cost requirements to achieve the Kyoto target were estimated. It is concluded that Annex I Parties' total reduction requirements range from 503—1304 MtC with USA participation and decrease significantly to 140—612.MtC after USA's withdrawal. Total costs vary from 2.—77 BUSD with USA and from 5—36 BUSD without USA if only domestic reduction actions are taken. The costs would sharply reduce while considering the three flexible mechanisms defined in the Kyoto Protocol with domestic actions' share in the all mitigation strategies drops to only 0—16%.

Recent experimental results from beijing Spectroscopy (BES) are reviewed, in-cluding the hadron spectroscopy from J/ψ decays, and a number of new states are found or confirmed, including σ, κ, X(1835), ω■ threshold enhancement in J/ψ→γω■ , a broad resonance in J/ψ→K +K ■π 0, decay studies of ψ (2.) and χCJ, as well as the results of ψ (3770) non-DD decays. The current status of BEPCII/BESIII, the major upgrade of BEPC/BESII, is also reported.

The pollen morphology of 11 species of the genus Glycyrrhiza *** one from each of the genera Glycyrrhizopsis Boiss.& *** Meristotropis Fisch.& *** investigated by scanning electron *** pollen morphology,the main differences between Glycyrrhizopsis and Glycyrrhiza are:Glycyrrhizopsis-pollen grains 36.63 × 40.42.μm in size,oblate spheroidal in shape;and Glycyrrhiza-pollen grains 2..47-33.18 × 2..82.31.83 μm in size,prolate spheroidal in *** and Glycyrrhiza should be recognized as two distinct genera based on palynological and morphological *** and Glycyrrhiza are similar in many important palynological and morphological characters,suggesting that the two should be *** Glycyrrhiza,two types of pollen grains,3-lobed-circular or subtriangular in polar view,are found in different species,in accordance with morphological differences in the two groups,shedding light on the classification and evolution of the genus.

Using a small quantity of DNA molecules and little experimental time to solve complex problems successfully is a goal of DNA computing. Some NP-hard problems have been solved by DNA computing with lower time complexity than conventional computing. However, this advantage often brings higher space complexity and needs a large number of DNA encoding molecules. One example is graph coloring problem. Current DNA algorithms need exponentially increasing DNA encoding strands with the growing of problem size. Here we propose a new DNA algorithm of graph coloring problem based on the proof of four-color theorem. This algorithm has good properties of needing a relatively small number of operations in polynomial time and needing a small number of DNA encoding molecules (we need only 6R DNA encoding molecules if the number of regions in a graph is R).

Suppression of Radioactive Strontium Absorption by Sodium Alginate in Animals and Human Subjects

The effect of 2. sodium alginate preparations from different species of algae (Sargassum sp.) and kelp (Laminaria sp.) on reducing the absorption of strontium was studied in detail. A pilot production procedure has been established. Na alginate from S. siliquastrum was proven to be a potent agent for reducing Sr absorption, with high efficiency and virtually no toxicity. It reduced the body burden of strontium 3.3-4.2.fold in rats. Strontium absorption in human subjects was reduced by 78% ( ±8.9) or completely suppressed the increase of serum Sr at 2.h after ingestion of stable Sr in volunteers and decrease 2. h urine Sr to similar extent. No undesirable effects on gastrointestinal function was observed nor were Ca, Fe, Cu and Zn metabolism changed, both in the animal experiments and in human. It was concluded that alginate preparations derived from Sargassum species are a suitable antidote against radiostrontium absorption on a long-term basis, when added to bread at a 6% level. In cases of emergency, an alginate syrup preparation appears to be more suitable because of its rapid action.

The gravity data from the sea region to the west of 12.° E of the South Yellow Sea have been processed and the feature of gravity fields analyzed. An experience relationship formula on the filter wavelength and corresponding depth has been put forward. Combined with the geological and seismic data, the deep tectonic framework and structural characters as well as possible favourable prospecting district for hydrocarbon in the South Yellow Sea have been discussed and analyzed.
