Visualization of cristae and mtDNA interactions via STED nanoscopy using a low saturation power probe

Mitochondria are crucial organelles closely associated with cellular metabolism and *** DNA(mtDNA)encodes a variety of transcripts and proteins essential for cellular ***,the interaction between the inner membrane(IM)and mtDNA remains elusive due to the limitations in spatiotemporal resolution offered by conventional microscopy and the absence of suitable in vivo probes specifically targeting the ***,we have developed a novel fluorescence probe called HBmito Crimson,characterized by exceptional photostability,fluorogenicity within lipid membranes,and low saturation *** successfully achieved over 500 frames of lowpower stimulated emission depletion microscopy(STED)imaging to visualize the IM dynamics,with a spatial resolution of 40 *** utilizing dual-color imaging of the IM and mtDNA,it has been uncovered that mtDNA tends to habitat at mitochondrial tips or branch points,exhibiting an overall spatially uniform ***,the dynamics of mitochondria are intricately associated with the positioning of mtDNA,and fusion consistently occurs in close proximity to mtDNA to minimize pressure during cristae *** healthy cells,>66%of the mitochondria are Class III(i.e.,mitochondria>5μm or with>1. cristae),while it dropped to1.%in *** dynamics,orchestrated by cristae remodeling,foster the even distribution of ***,in conditions of apoptosis and ferroptosis where the cristae structure is compromised,mtDNA distribution becomes *** findings,achieved with unprecedented spatiotemporal resolution,reveal the intricate interplay between cristae and mtDNA and provide insights into the driving forces behind mtDNA distribution.

Dear Editor,This letter addresses long duration coverage problem of multiple robotic surface vehicles(RSVs) subject to battery energy constraints,in addition to uncertainties and disturbances. An anti-disturbance energy-aware control method is proposed for performing coverage task of RSVs. Firstly, a centroidal Voronoi tessellation(CVT) is used to optimize the partition of the given coverage area.

Preparation, Crystallization and Mechanical Properties of Potassium Aluminosilicate Glass-ceramics

In this study,transparent K_(2)O-Al_(2)O_(3)-SiO_(2)(KAS)glass-ceramics with leucite as the main crystalline phase were prepared by melting-quench method and two-step heat *** effects of SiO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3) ratio and heat treatment on crystallization and mechanical properties were *** crystallization kinetics and X-Ray Diffraction(XRD)results showed that SiO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3) ratio and heat treatment system had a direct impact on the crystallization behavior of potassium aluminosilicate *** heat-treated at 680℃/2 h and 780℃/1.h,cracks generated on the surface of the sample with the addition of SiO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3)=4.8(in mol)due to the huge difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion between glass matrix and *** the addition of SiO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3)(in mol)was 4,the sample with leucite as the main crystalline phase showed an excellent fracture toughness(1.46 MPa·m^(0.5))after the heat treatment of 680℃/2 h and 780℃/5 *** there was a phase transformation from kaliophilite to *** crystalline phases of the sample heat-treated at 680℃/8 h and 780℃/1.h were leucite and kaliophilite,which resulted in the visible light transmittance of 63%and the fracture toughness of 0.91.MPa·m^(0.5).Furthermore,after the heat treatment of 680℃/2 h and 780℃/5 h,the main crystalline phase of the sample with SiO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3)=3.2(in mol)was still *** leucite only grows on the surface of the sample and is hard to grow inward,it is hard to achieve the bulk crystallization of leucite in the sample with SiO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3)=3.2(in mol).

Patterns and drivers of plant sexual systems in the dry-hot valley region of southwestern China

Sexual systems play important roles in angiosperm evolution and exhibit substantial variations among different floras. Thus, studying their evolution in a whole flora is crucial for understanding the formation and maintenance of plant biodiversity and predicting its responses to environmental change. In this study, we determined the patterns of plant sexual systems and their associations with geographic elements and various life-history traits in dry-hot valley region of southwestern China, an extremely vulnerable ecosystem. Of the 31.6 angiosperm species recorded in this area, 74.5% were hermaphroditic,1..5% were monoecious and 1.% were dioecious, showing a high incidence of diclinous species. Diclinous species were strongly associated with tropical elements, whereas hermaphroditic species were strongly associated with temperate and cosmopolitan elements. We also found that hermaphroditism was strongly associated with showy floral displays, specialist entomophily, dry fruits and herbaceous *** was strongly associated with inconspicuous, pale-colored flowers, generalist entomophily, fleshy fruits, and woody plants, whereas monoecy was strongly associated with inconspicuous, pale-colored flowers, anemophily, dry fruits, and herbaceous plants. In addition, hermaphroditic species with generalist entomophily tended to flower in the dry season, whereas diclinous species with specialist entomophily tended to flower in the rainy season. However, independent of sexual systems, plants that produce dry fruits tended to flower in the rainy season and set fruits in the dry season, but the opposite pattern was found for fleshy fruit-producing plants. Our results suggest that in the dry-hot valleys, plant sexual systems are associated with geographic elements as well as various life-history traits that are sensitive to environmental change.

Shallow sub-lakes are essential for sustaining the successful wintering of waterbirds in Poyang Lake,China

For migratory waterbirds,the quality of wintering habitat is related to spring migration and successful breeding in the next *** availability of food resources in the habitat is critical and varies within water *** the water-level fluctuations in Poyang Lake have been extremely variable interannually in recent years,the wintering waterbird populations have remained relatively ***,the mechanism of maintaining the stability is worth *** study aimed to compare the distribution of vegetation and herbivorous wa-terbirds in 201.-201. and 201.-201.,focusing on three shallow sub-lakes and one main lake *** results showed that the emergence of tubers and the growth of Carex *** a continuous food supply and habitat for wintering waterbirds with a gradual decline in the water *** sub-lakes supported almost all of the tuber-eating waterbirds(1.42-1.62×1.^(5))and most geese(1.34-1.53×1.^(6)).However,the main lake area,covered with Persicaria hydropiper,did not provide adequate and accessible *** resulted in almost no distribution of tuber-eating waterbirds,with only a few geese congregating in early *** results demonstrated that the shallow sub-lakes under human control provided a different environment from the main lake and are key to sustaining the successful wintering of hundreds of thousands of migratory waterbirds in Poyang ***,we recommend refining the anthropogenic management of the shallow sub-lakes to regulate the water level to ensure the carrying capacity of Poyang Lake.
