摘 要:The role for serotonin(5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT)in controlling the pulmonary circulation was investigated following reports of an increased risk of primary pulmonary hypertension(PPH)in patients who used appetite suppressants that interact with 5-HT transport. In addition to its vasoactive effects, 5-HT exerts mitogenic and co-mitogenic effects on pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells(PA-SMCs), This effect is mediated through the serotonin transporter(5-HTT).
