摘 要:This article,from the perspective of the development and the relationship between language and cognition, makes a tentative research on the formation of concepts for words,the categorization of their meanings,and the development of metaphorically cognitive thinking and linguistic metaphors. It tries to show that metaphor (including metaphorically cognitive mode and metaphorical language) is the result and the advanced stage of cognitive evolution,and one of the important and basic patterns of human thought,experience and expression. It also makes an attempt to illustrate that the universality of human cognitive structure is the basis of language universals.
