Changes in the epigenome and transcriptome of rice in response to Magnaporthe oryzae infection

Waterline method and tidal level grid were investigated to construct digital Elevation Model （DEM） of tidal land of mud. Based on a series of China property Beijing-1（BJ-1） small satellite image data, which are kept in the achieves and can cover an area of 600 km×600 km, a series of waterlines were automatically extracted with improved accuracy using "region grow integrating edge information" considering different tidal conditions of the mud tidal land. A high precision tidal level grid of 1.2′×1.2′ of China coastal sea of Bohai was firstly applied to establish spatial joining with each waterline at each time when the satellite was imaging. This fine regional ocean tide model around China sea was based on POM model and blending assimilation approach. Then the assignment of elevations to the waterlines were performed by spatial joining between this tidal level grids and waterlines. Based on these waterline points, the triangulated irregular network （TIN） of tidal land topography was built. Then the grid DEM was generated by TIN. Different from other methods, waterline is not considered a contour line but the elevation of waterline points were assigned according to the high precise tidal level grid, so a precise DEM was acquired. Compared with the results of in situ GPS RTK surveying of three profiles, the mean values of elevation absolute error were less than 0.2 m, and the overall standard error was 0.188 m. This accuracy will meet the DEM mapping acquirement of 1:200 000, and some important area of 1:50 000.

DNA methylation participates in regulating the expression of coding and non-coding regions in plants. To investigate the association between DNA methylation and pathogen infection, we used whole-genome bisulfite sequencing to survey temporal DNA methylation changes in rice after infection with the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae. In contrast to previous findings in Arabidopsis, global DNA methylation levels in rice increased slightly after rice blast infection. We identified over 38,000 differentially methylated regions(DMRs), and hypermethylated DMRs far outnumbered hypomethylated DMRs. Most DMRs were located in transposable element regions. Using transcriptome analysis, we identified 8830 differentially expressed genes(DEGs) after 1, 3, and 5 days of infection. Over one-third of DEGs, most of which were CHH-type DMRs, were associated with DMRs. Functional analysis of the CHH DMR-DEGs indicated their involvement in many important biological processes, including cell communication and response to external stimulus. The transcription of many NBS-LRR family genes was affected by changes in DNA methylation, suggesting that DNA methylation plays essential roles in the response of rice to M. oryzae infection. More broadly, the DNA methylation analysis presented here sheds light on epigenomic involvement in plant defense against fungal pathogens.

Internet of Things (IoT) has attracted extensive interest from both academia and industries, and is recognized as an ultimate infrastructure to connect everything at anytime and anywhere. The implementation of IoT generally faces the challenges from energy constraint and implementation cost. In this paper, we will introduce a new green communication paradigm, the ambient backscatter (AmBC), that could utilize the environmental wireless signals for both powering a tiny-cost device and backscattering the information symbols. Specifically, we will present the basic principles of AmBC, analyze its features and advantages, suggest its open problems, and predict its potential applications for our future IoT.

An image hybrid coding scheme using wavelet transform(WT)is presented in this paper. The attractive advantages of wavelet representation are utilized to decorrelate the high information redundancy between the adjacent image *** coding of the resulting multiresolution difference signals is very easy to take into account the human visual system(HVS),This paper analyzes the statistical characteristics of difference *** quantization and coding techniques incorporating the human visual characteristics and the probability distribution of difference signals are also *** experimental results demonstrate the better performance of the proposed hybrid coding system compared with the results achieved.

Since virtual geographic environments(VGEs)were unofficially proposed for the first time at a conference in 1998,nearly two decades have *** these years,VGE has experienced several stages of evolution(Chen,Lin,and Lu 2017),and its definition has been modified over the course of its evolution(see Lin and Gong 2001;Lin and Zhu 2005;Gong,Zhou,and Zhang 2010;Lu 2011;Lin,Chen,and Lu 2013;Lin et al.2013;Chen et al.2017).Currently,the term VGE can be described as a kind of digital geographic environment generated by computers and related technologies that users can use to experience and recognize complex geographic systems and further conduct comprehensive geographic analyses.

The advance in communication technology has triggered worldwide concern on electromagnetic wave *** cope with this challenge,exploring high-performance electromagnetic(EM)wave absorbing materials with dielectric and magnetic losses coupling is urgently *** the EM wave absorbers,transition metal diborides(TMB2)possess excellent dielectric loss ***,akin to other single dielectric materials,poor impedance match leads to inferior ***-entropy engineering is expected to be effective in tailoring the balance between dielectric and magnetic losses through compositional ***,three HE TMB2 powders with nominal equimolar TM including HE TMB2-I(TM=Zr,Hf,Nb,Ta),HE TMB2-2(TM=Ti,Zr,Hf,Nb,Ta),and HE TMB2-3(TM=Cr,Zr,Hf,Nb,Ta)have been designed and prepared by one-step boro/carbothermal *** a result of synergistic effects of strong attenuation capability and impedance match,HE TMB2-1 shows much improved performance with the optimal minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of-59.6 dB(8.48 GHz,2.68 mm)and effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 7.6 GHz(2.3 mm).Most impressively,incorporating Cr in HE TMB2-3 greatly improves the impedance match over 1-18 GHz,thus achieving the RLmin of-56.2 dB(8.48 GHz,2.63 mm)and the EAB of 11.0 GHz(2.2 mm),which is superior to most other EM wave absorbing *** work reveals that constructing high-entropy compounds,especially by incorporating magnetic elements,is effectual in tailoring the impedance match for highly conductive compounds,i.e.,tuning electrical conductivity and boosting magnetic loss to realize highly efficient and broadband EM wave absorption with dielectric and magnetic coupling in single-phase materials.

Mapping Potential Infiltration Patterns Using digital Elevation Model

This study attempts to simulate the spatial heterogeneity of infiltration in a drainage basin using digital elevation models. Infiltration capacity is one of the controlling factors in the formation of stream channels. Channel formation is also a function of the slope and the contributing area. Natural stream channels, if properly graded and adjusted to the present climate, reflect the interactions of local slope, contributing area, and permeability of surface materials. Channel networks can be delineated from a digital Elevation Model (DEM) using a variety of algorithms using different thresholds for channel initiation. These algorithms delineate a channel network on the basis of local slope, curvature, and contributing area, without considering the permeability of surface cover. Hence, the difference in the structure of the two drainage networks,?i.e.?the surveyed drainage network obtained from field observation and the simulated network generated from the DEM, is indicative of the spatial heterogeneities in the permeability of the surface cover as shown in this paper. Spatially variable drainage density maps corresponding to the two networks have been used here to obtain normalized difference maps that characterize the potential infiltration anomalies within the catchment. The simulated spatial pattern is compared with the actual infiltration measurements in the field using infiltration tests. Strong positive correlation between the observed and modeled infiltration confirms the effectiveness of this technique in the rapid assessment of potential infiltration variability.
