In order to revalorize the nucicultural sector in Ivory Coast, initiatives have been taken to diversify the uses of coconut through the production of sugar from its inflorescences. Four water-soluble vitamins have been determined in the crystalline sugar of coconuts. These are vitamins C, B1, B2 and B6. On the other hand, no vitamin was identified in cane sugars. Vitamin C is the most abundant in coconut sugar. The oses contained in coconut sugar are saccharose, glucose and fructose. Sucrose is the main constituent of coconut crystal sugar. Thanks to their sweetening power close to saccharose, the coconut sugars produced can be used as sweetening ingredients in pastries, confectionery, drinks and culinary preparations. Their richness in vitamin C makes them a food that can stimulate the body’s natural and immune defences.

Pseudotheraptus devastans Distant (Heteroptera: Coreidae), is an important coconut pest in C?te d’Ivoire. the stings from Nymph and adult cause not only the falling of immature nuts, but also their deformation. this triggers losses of production in the order can reach 80%. Little information is available about this pest. those existing are limited to its ecology and damages caused in host-plants. the present investigation is aimed to study the life cycle of this pest. the experiment was carried out in a coconut field of the marc delorme Coconut Research Station (MDCRS). On these coconut palms, bunches between 3 and 4 months of age, enclosed in cage were used. Development duration from an egg to adult emergence averaged 28.26 days. the average incubation period was on average 6.63 days and fertility rate of eggs was 98.01%. Nymphal development period was 21.63 days. the sex-ratio is in favour of females which live 112.6 ± 13.45 days. these females laid on average 198.85 ± 36.05 eggs. the males lived on average 131.3 ± 17.7 days. the knowledge of these different parameters could allow the development of a control method based on the breaking of life cycle of this pest.

this study endeavour assesses agromorphological likeness between initial introductions and regenerated accessions at the International Coconut Genebank for Africa and the Indian Ocean (ICG-AIO) based in C?te d’Ivoire. ten couples of parental (G0) and regenerated (G1) accessions of tall coconut palms were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Multiple Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) from 26 agromorphological characters. the main results showed a relative decrease in the expression of the phenotypical traits concerning the component of the fruit, height and vigor of the stem and yield of bunches and fruits after one regeneration cycle. But, a high proportion (69%) of studied characters from leaf, inflorescence and nut components showed likeness between G0 and G1 accessions. After one regeneration cycle, the controlled pollination method guarantees significant conservation of the expression of the majority of agromorphological traits. Consequently, regenerated accessions of tall coconut palms can be used to pursue research and development programs in C?te d’Ivoire.

A series of novel dense mixed conducting ceramic membranes based on K2NiF4-type(La1-xCax)2(Ni0.75Cu0.25)O4+δwas successfully prepared through a sol-gel *** chemical compatibility,oxygen permeability,CO and CO2 tolerance,and long-term CO2 resistance regarding phase composition and crystal structure at different atmospheres were *** results show that higher Ca contents in the material lead to the formation of CaCO3.A constant oxygen permeation flux of about 0.63 mL·min−1·cm−2 at 1173 K through a 0.65 mm thick membrane was measured for(La0.9Ca0.1)2(Ni0.75Cu0.25)O4+δ,using either helium or pure CO2 as sweep *** oxygen fluxes with no sign of deterioration of this membrane were observed with increasing CO2 *** membrane showed excellent chemical stability towards CO2 for more than 1360 h and phase stability in presence of CO for 4 h at high *** addition,this membrane did not deteriorate in a high-energy CO2 *** present work demonstrates that this(La0.9Ca0.1)2(Ni0.75Cu0.25)O4+δmembrane is a promising chemically robust candidate for oxygen separation applications.

this study aims to characterize the climatic variability in the South-East of Ivory Coast and to show its impact on the supply of water resources. to do this, statistical and hydrological methods were applied to climatic data collected at the marc delorme Research Station of the CNRA. the statistical trend tests on this data revealed a significant decrease in precipitation and an increase in temperature, insolation and evaporation. Statistical break methods indicate a rainfall break in 1982 which marks a modification of the rainfall regime thus translating a drop in rainfall of 15%, a recession in the frequency of rainy days in general and in particular in rainfall heights between 10 and 30 mm and greater than 50 mm. this break is accompanied by a shortening of the rainy seasons, with average rainfall durations ranging from 54 days (short rainy season) to 104 days (great rainy season). Despite the disturbances in the different seasons of the year, the monthly rainfall regimes in the area have not changed. the assessment of the effects of drought on water resources using the Standardized Precipitation and Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) for three-time scales (1 month, 3 months and 12 months) indicates a severe drought ranging from 3% to 7% over the period 1961 to 2018. However, despite the presence of this severe drought, the intensity of the drought was found to be moderate on all time scales. the thorrnthwaite method was used to highlight the impacts of this climatic variability on the region’s water resources. the average annual recharge estimated at 402 mm, has been reduced to 153 mm during a deficit period, a decrease of about 62%. the average annual runoff, which was 294 mm, fells to 257 mm, a decrease of about 13%. this recorded decrease in the water infiltrated after the rainfall break (1983-2018), explains the heterogeneous decrease in the depth of the water table.

Pressure on land tenure is having a negative impact on the coconut sector, reducing farmers’ incomes. Intercropping cultivars plantain under coconut based has been considered as a solution to this problem. the aim of this work is to diversify the sources of income for coconut growers. the plantain variety PItA 3, popularised by the CNRA, was grown in coconut inter-rows (PB113+), with two types of manure (chemical, organic). Six (06) treatments D1, D2, D3, D4, D5 and D6 were studied. In the tenth month after planting, treatment D3, which included banana plants fertilised with 9 kg of manure/plant, got the best agromorphological performance: height (264.08 cm), neck circumference (57.68 cm) and 12 leaves. In terms of production parameters, D3 banana plants had a shorter production cycle (347 days) and the highest diet mass (9.3 kg). However, the plants that received no fertiliser (D6) showed stunted growth and were unable to produce brunch. the fertilization of plantain with 10 t/ha of laying hen droppings permitted good development and production of plantains on tertiary sands.

Characterization of the tribologically relevant cover layers formed on copper in oxygen and oxygen-free conditions

Engineering in vacuum or under a protective atmosphere permits the production of materials, wherever the absence of oxygen is an essential demand for a successful processing. However, very few studies have provided quantitative evidence of the effect of oxidized surfaces to tribological properties. In the current study on 99.99% pure copper, it is revealed that tribo-oxidation and the resulting increased abrasive wear can be suppressed by processing in an extreme high vacuum (XHV) adequate environment. the XHV adequate atmosphere was realized by using a silane-doped shielding gas (1.5 vol% SiH4 in argon). to analyse the influence of the ambient atmosphere on the tribological and mechanical properties, a ball–disk tribometer and a nanoindenter were used in air, argon, and silane-doped argon atmosphere for temperatures up to 800 ℃. Resistance measurements of the resulting coatings were carried out. to characterize the microstructures and the chemical compositions of the samples, the scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used. the investigations have revealed a formation of η-Cu3Si in silane-doped atmosphere at 300 ℃, as well as various intermediate stages of copper silicides. At temperatures above 300 ℃, the formation of γ-Cu5Si were detected. the formation was linked to an increase in hardness from 1.95 to 5.44 GPa, while the Young’s modulus increased by 46% to 178 GPa, with the significant reduction of the wear volume by a factor of 4.5 and the suppression of further oxidation and susceptibility of chemical wear. In addition, the relevant diffusion processes were identified using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.

the inverted triplesalen ligand H6feldMe has been synthesized from 2,4,6-triformyl-phloroglucinol and a ketimine salen half-unit in a convergent synthesis. NMR, IR, and UV-vis spectroscopy reveal that this ligand is not in the O-protonated tau- tomer but in the N-protonated tautomer with substantial heteroradialene contribution. this ligand and the conventional triple- salen ligand H6talent-au2 have been used to synthesize the trinuclear Fem complexes [（feldMe）（FeCl）3] and [（talent-Bu2）（FeC1）3], respectively. the molecular structures of these complexes were obtained by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. two trinuclear Fem complexes of [（feldMe）（FeCl）3] dimerize via two Fe-phenolate bonds, whereas due to steric hindrance no dimerization is observed for [（talent-Bu2）（FeC1）3]. the structural data also reveal some heteroradialene contribution in the trinuclear complexes. Whereas UV-vis and MOlSbauer spectroscopy are not suitable to distinguish between the two complexes, Ft-IR spectra show characteristic features due to the different substitution patterns of the conventional and the inverted triplesalen ligands. Another handle is provided by electrochemistry. Whereas both complexes exhibit an irreversible oxidation wave （0.94 V vs. Fc＋/Fc for [（feldMe）（FeC1）3] and 0.84 V vs. Fc~/Fc for [（talent-Bu2）（FeC1）3]）, which is assigned to the oxidation of the central backbone, higher potential oxidations are reversible for [（talent-Bu2）（FeC1）3]） but irreversible for [（feldMe）（FeC1）3]. this is attributed to the reversible oxidation of the terminal phenolates in the di-tert-butyl substituted [（talentBu2）（FeCl）3] in contrast to the mono-methyl-substituted phenolates in [（feld^ae）（FeC1）3]. the magnetic properties of [（talen^-Bu2）（FeC1）3] reveal a very small ferromagnetic coupling with significant zero-field splitting of the Feul S = 5/2 ions. A series of molecules with oligophenylene backbone,thiolate anchoring group,pentafluoro-λ^(6)-sulfanyl(−SF_(5))tail group was synthesized and used as precursors to form self-assembled monolayers(SAMs)on Au(111)*** resulting SAMs feature dense molecular packing,upright molecular orientation,chemically homogeneous SAM-ambient interface,comprised entirely of the−SF_(5)*** SAMs exhibit exceptional wetting and electrostatic properties,showing advancing water contact angles up to 103°and work function values up to 5.96 eV—probably the highest values reported for any aromatic monolayers on *** also feature a comparably low value of the tunnelling decay coefficient(0.38±0.07Å^(−1)),typical of oligophenylene backbone,which is not affected by the introduction of the−SF_(5)*** latter also hardly affects the current densities at a specific bias compared to analogous monolayers with other electronegative tail *** superior electrostatic and good charge transport properties of the designed,SF_(5)-terminated SAMs make them potentially useful for interface engineering in organic electronics and photovoltaics.
