Kumamoto oysters(Crassostrea sikamea)are important marine aquaculture shellfish because of their taste and round shell *** to its small size,selective breeding is required to improve its market size,but there are no reports on traits suitable for direction selection and reproductive productivity of Kumamoto oysters of different *** this study,path analysis and one-way ANOVA were used to explore the influential indices of oyster body weight and *** results showed that shell height was the main factor affecting the body weight of Kumamoto oysters at one-year-old and two-year-old,followed by shell *** weight was the main factor influencing fecundity,and shell height showed a significant correlation with ***,shell height should be considered the first parameter for selection when selecting Kumamoto oysters for body weight as the direct selection *** one-year-old and two-year-old Kumamoto oysters were selected as parents from Xiangshan Bay,hatching parameters and growth parameters of F1 generation larvae were *** fecundity and egg diameters were 1.72×10^(6)and 46.60±3.62μm,respectively,which were significantly greater than one-aged oysters(5.86×10^(5),40.26±3.52μm).The hatching parameters(fertilized egg size,fertilization rate,and hatching rate)and larval growth performance(D-stage veliger and veliger)were similar and did not differ significantly(P>0.05),and after metamorphosis,there was also no significant difference in shell height size at 40 days of age(P>0.05).Therefore,there was no significant effect of age on reproduction,larval development,and the early growth of Kumamoto *** results could provide a basis for parental sources and proper traits for Kumamoto oyster selection,which is beneficial to developing and utilizing this excellent germplasm resource.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are significant public health issues associated with a long-term increase in mortality risk, resulting from various etiologies including renal ischemia, sepsis, drug toxicity, and diabetes mellitus. Numerous preclinical models have been developed to deepen our understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms and therapeutic approaches for kidney diseases. Among these, rodent models have proven to be powerful tools in the discovery of novel therapeutics, while the development of kidney organoids has emerged as a promising advancement in the field. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of the construction methodologies, underlying biological mechanisms, and recent therapeutic developments across different AKI and CKD models. Additionally, this review summarizes the advantages, limitations, and challenges inherent in these preclinical models, thereby contributing robust evidence to support the development of effective therapeutic strategies.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging technology has significant advantages in in situ and noninvasive monitoring of biological tissues. However, it still faces the following challenges: including data processing speed, image quality, and improvements in three-dimensional (3D) visualization effects. OCT technology, especially functional imaging techniques like optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), requires a long acquisition time and a large data size. Despite the substantial increase in the acquisition speed of swept source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT), it still poses significant challenges for data processing. Additionally, during in situ acquisition, image artifacts resulting from interface reflections or strong reflections from biological tissues and culturing containers present obstacles to data visualization and further analysis. Firstly, a customized frequency domain filter with anti-banding suppression parameters was designed to suppress artifact noises. Then, this study proposed a graphics processing unit (GPU)-based real-time data processing pipeline for SS-OCT, achieving a measured line-process rate of 800kHz for 3D fast and high-quality data visualization. Furthermore, a GPU-based real-time data processing for CC-OCTA was integrated to acquire dynamic information. Moreover, a vascular-like network chip was prepared using extrusion-based 3D printing and sacrificial materials, with sacrificial material being printed at the desired vascular network locations and then removed to form the vascular-like network. OCTA imaging technology was used to monitor the progression of sacrificial material removal and vascular-like network formation. Therefore, GPU-based OCT enables real-time processing and visualization with artifact suppression, making it particularly suitable for in situ noninvasive longitudinal monitoring of 3D bioprinting tissue and vascular-like networks in microfluidic chips.

In this study,we have explored the use of water as a non-solvent for tuning the microstructure of poly-benzimidazole(PBI)membranes,which are potential separators for lithium metal batteries(LMBs).The traditional method for membrane synthesis called nonsolvent-induced phase separation(NIPS),usually relies on hazardous and costly organic *** dissolving sodium chloride(Nacl)in water,we could adjust the water ionic potency and the exchange speed of the non-solvent with the DMAC solution to change the micropore structure of the PBI *** increasing Nacl concentration,the micro-pores in the PBI membrane transitioned from finger-like to sponge-like *** to com-mercial separators like the Celgard separator,the PBI membrane with sponge-like micropores exhibited better regulation of lithium deposition and improved Li^(+) transportation capability due to its good wetta-bility with the ***,the PBI membrane-based Li/Li symmetric cell and Li/LiFePO_(4) full cell demonstrated superior performance compared to the Celgard-based *** research proposes an eco-friendly and scalable synthetic approach for fabricating commercial separators for LMBs,addressing the issue of lithium dendrite growth and improving overall battery safety and performance.

Background Environmental heat stress (HS) can have detrimental effects on milk production by compromising the mammary function. Mammary plasma flow (MPF) plays a crucial role in nutrient supply and uptake in the mammary gland. In this experiment, we investigated the physiological and metabolic changes in high-yielding cows exposed to different degrees of HS: no HS with thermal-humidity index (THI) below 68 (No-HS), mild HS (Mild-HS, 68 <= THI <= 79), and moderate HS (Mod-HS, 79 < THI <= 88) in their natural environment. Our study focused on the changes in blood oxygen supply and mammary glucose uptake and utilization. Results Compared with No-HS, the MPF of dairy cows was greater (P < 0.01) under Mild-HS, but was lower (P < 0.01) in cows under Mod-HS. Oxygen supply and consumption exhibited similar changes to the MPF under different HS, with no difference in ratio of oxygen consumption to supply (P = 0.46). The mammary arterio-vein differences in glucose concentration were lower (P < 0.05) under Mild- and Mod-HS than under no HS. Glucose supply and flow were significantly increased (P < 0.01) under Mild-HS but significantly decreased (P < 0.01) under Mod-HS compared to No-HS. Glucose uptake (P < 0.01) and clearance rates (P < 0.01) were significantly reduced under Mod-HS compared to those under No-HS and Mild-HS. Under Mild-HS, there was a significant decrease (P < 0.01) in the ratio of lactose yield to mammary glucose supply compared to that under No-HS and Mod-HS, with no difference (P = 0.53) in the ratio of lactose yield to uptaken glucose among different HS situations. Conclusions Degrees of HS exert different influences on mammary metabolism, mainly by altering MPF in dairy cows. The output from this study may help us to develop strategies to mitigate the impact of different degrees of HS on milk production.

The conventional theory of concerted evolution has been used to explain the lack of sequence variation in ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes across diverse eukaryotic species. However, recent investigations into rRNA genes in flatfish genome have resulted in controversial findings. This study focuses on 18S rRNA genes of the widely distributed tongue sole, Cynoglossus abbreviatus (Pleuronectiformes: Cynoglossidae), aiming to explore sequence polymorphism. Five distinct 18S rDNA sequence types (Type A, B, R1, R2, and R3) were identified, suggesting a departure from concerted evolution. A combination of general criteria and variations in highly conserved regions were employed to detect pseudogenes. The results pinpointed Type A sequences as potential pseudogenes due to significant sequence variations and deviations in secondary structure within highly conserved regions. Three types (Type R1, R2, and R3) were identified as recombinants between Type A and B sequences, with simple crossing over and gene conversion as the most likely recombination mechanisms. These findings not only contribute to rRNA pseudogene identification but also shed light on the evolutionary dynamics of rRNA genes in teleost genomes.

Zinc-air batteries(ZABs)are promising energy storage systems because of high theoretical energy density,safety,low cost,and abundance of ***,the slow multi-step reaction of oxygen and heavy reliance on noble-metal catalysts hinder the practical applications of ***,feasible and advanced non-noble-metal elec-trocatalysts for air cathodes need to be identified to promote the oxygen catalytic *** this review,we initially introduced the advancement of ZABs in the past two decades and provided an overview of key developments in this ***,we discussed the work-ing mechanism and the design of bifunctional electrocatalysts from the perspective of morphology design,crystal structure tuning,interface strategy,and atomic *** also included theoretical studies,machine learning,and advanced characterization technologies to provide a comprehensive understanding of the structure-performance relationship of electrocatalysts and the reaction pathways of the oxygen redox ***,we discussed the challenges and prospects related to designing advanced non-noble-metal bifunctional electrocatalysts for ZABs.

This paper studies the self-similar fractals with overlaps from an algorithmic point of view.A decidable problem is a question such that there is an algorithm to answer"yes"or"no"to the question for every possible *** a classical class of self-similar sets{E b.d}b,d where E b.d=Sn i=1(E b,d/d+b i)with b=(b1,...,b n)∈Qn and d∈N∩[n,∞),we prove that the following problems on the class are decidable:To test if the Hausdorff dimension of a given self-similar set is equal to its similarity dimension,and to test if a given self-similar set satisfies the open set condition(or the strong separation condition).In fact,based on graph algorithm,there are polynomial time algorithms for the above decidable problem.
