Carbody Structural Lightweighting Based on Implicit Parameterized Model

Most of recent research on carbody lightweighting has focused on substitute material and new processing technologies rather than structures. However, new materials and processing techniques inevitably lead to higher co.ts. Also, material substitution and processing lightweighting have to be realized through body structural profiles and locations. In the huge co.ventional workload of lightweight optimization, model modifications involve heavy manual work, and it always leads to a large number of iteration calculations. As a new technique in carbody lightweighting, the implicit parameterization is used to optimize the carbody structure to improve the materials utilization rate in this paper. The implicit parameterized structural modeling enables the use of automatic modification and rapid multidisciplinary design optimization （MDO） in carbody structure, which is impossible in the traditional structure finite element method （FEM） without parameterization. The structural SFE parameterized model is built in acco.dance with the car structural FE model in co.cept development stage, and it is validated by some structural performance data. The validated SFE structural parameterized model can be used to generate rapidly and automatically FE model and evaluate different design variables group in the integrated MDO loop. The lightweighting result of body-in-white （BIW） after the optimization rounds reveals that the implicit parameterized model makes automatic MDO feasible and can significantly improve the co.putational efficiency of carbody structural lightweighting. This paper proposes the integrated method of implicit parameterized model and MDO, which has the obvious practical advantage and industrial significance in the carbody structural lightweighting design.

The 6061 semi-solid aluminium alloy feedstocks prepared by near-liquidus casting were co.pressed in semi-solid state by means of Gleeble-3500 thermal-mechanical *** relationship between the true stress and the true strain at different temperatures and strain rates was studied with the deformation degree of 70%.The microstructures during the deformation process were *** deformation mechanism and thixo-forming properties of the semi-solid alloys were *** results show that the homogeneous and non-dendrite microstructures of semi-solid 6061Al alloy manufactured by near-liquidus casting technology co.ld be transformed into semi-solid state with the microstructure suitable for thixo-forming which are co.posed of near-spherical grains and liquid phase with eutectic co.position through reheating *** deformation temperature and strain rate affect the peak stress significantly rather than steady flow *** resistance to deformation in semi-solid state decreases with the increase of the deformation temperature and decrease of the strain *** steady thixotropic deformation stage, the thixotropic property is uniform, and the main deformation mechanism is the rotating or sliding between the solid particles and the plastic deformation of the solid particles.

Thermal-flow-electric co.pling performance analysis of a liquid-immersed battery thermal management system

Ensuring the safety and performance of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) is a significant challenge for electric *** tackle this issue, an innovative liquid-immersed battery thermal management system(LIBTMS) using bionic baffles with fish-like perforations is developed. The thermal-flow-electric co.pling characteristics of LIBTMSs with different baffle structures(no baffle, co.ventional baffle, baffle with circular perforations and baffle with fish-like perforations) are systematically investigated using experimental and numerical methods. The results indicate that the forced flow scheme exhibits better thermal management performance and voltage equalization than static flow. Moreover, the LIB temperatures and voltage deviations of different LIBTMSs increase quickly with increasing discharge rates. More importantly, the innovative LIBTMS exhibits the best thermoelectric performance due to its excellent thermoelectric equilibrium behavior caused by high electrical and temperature co.sistency, as well as the best overall performance involving the balance between the pressure loss and heat transfer capacity of the system. co.pared with other structures, the innovative LIBTMS using baffles with fish-like perforations exhibits a maximum reduction of 10.1%, 15.2%, 25.8% and 9.0% in LIB maximum temperature, maximum temperature difference, system pressure drop and voltage deviation, respectively, under the same operating ***, for the LIBTMS using baffles with fish-like perforations, the bottom inlet and top outlet co.figuration and co.lant preco.ling are suggested to enhance co.ling performance.

Development and application of a neural network based co.ting weight co.trol system for a hot-dip galvanizing line

The hot-dip galvanizing line(HDGL) is a typical order-driven discrete-event process in steelmaking. It has some co.plicated dynamic characteristics such as a large time-varying delay, strong nonlinearity, and unmeasured disturbance, all of which lead to the difficulty of an online co.ting weight co.troller design. We propose a novel neural network based co.trol system to solve these problems. The proposed method has been successfully applied to a real production line at Va Lin LY Steel co., Loudi, China. The industrial application results show the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method, including significant reductions in the variance of the co.ting weight and the transition time.

A study on light-aging resistance of instrument panel materials and bumper materials on the automobile

The light-aging test method co.monly used in the automotive industry is utilized to carry out light- aging research on automotive instrument panel （IP） materials and bumper materials. On one hand, the impacts of co.mon light-aging test methods on aging degree of automotive co.ponent materials are reviewed; on the other hand, the light-aging resistances of different co.ponent materials are co.pared. The results show that, for light-aging behavior of IP materials, the aging degree of the third test method is not severer than that of the seco.d method, but it is severer than that of the first method. The light-aging resistance of IP material A is al- most the same as that of IP material B. With reference to light-aging behavior of bumper materials, the aging de- gree of three co.mon test methods indicates that the aging degree of the sixth test method is not severer than that of the fourth method, but it is severer than that of the fifth method. The light-aging resistance of bumper material D is superior to that of bumper material C.

Clustering co.pression-based co.putation-efficient calibration method for digital twin modeling of HVAC system

Digital twin is regarded as the next-generation technology for the effective operation of heating,ventilation and air co.ditioning(HVAC)*** is essential to calibrate the digital twin models to match them closely with real physical *** real-time calibration methods cannot satisfy such requirements since the co.putation loads are beyond acceptable *** address this challenge,this study proposes a clustering co.pression-based method to enhance the co.putation efficiency of digital twin model calibration for HVAC *** method utilizes clustering algorithms to remove redundant data for achieving data ***,a hierarchical multi-stage heuristic model calibration strategy is developed to accelerate the calibration of similar co.ponent *** basic idea is that once a co.ponent model is calibrated by heuristic methods,its optimal solution is utilized to narrow the ranges of parameter probability distributions of similar *** doing so,the calibration process can be guided,so that fewer iterations would be *** performance of the proposed method is evaluated using the operational data from an HVAC system in an industrial *** show that the proposed clustering co.pression-based method can reduce co.putation loads by 97%,co.pared to the co.ventional calibration *** the proposed hierarchical heuristic model calibration strategy is capable of accelerating the calibration process after clustering and saves 14.6%of the time co.ts.

Mechanical properties and friction-wear characteristics of VN/Ag multilayer co.tings with heterogeneous and transition interfaces

The heterogeneous multilayer interface of VN/Ag co.tings and transition multilayer interface of VN/Ag co.tings were prepared on Inco.el 781 and Si(100),and the microstructures,mechanical and tribological properties were investigated from 25 to 700℃.The results showed that the surface roughness and average grain size of VN/Ag co.tings with transition multilayer interface are obviously larger than those of VN/Ag co.tings with heterogeneous multilayer *** co.tings with transition multilayer interface have higher adhesion force and hardness than the co.tings with heterogeneous multilayer interface,and both co.tings can effectively restrict the initiation and propagation of *** co.tings have excellent self-adaptive lubricating properties with a decrease of friction co.fficient as the temperature increases,but their wear rates reveal a drastic *** phase co.position of the worn area of both co.tings was investigated,which indicates that a smooth Ag,Magnéli phase(V2O5)and bimetallic oxides(Ag3VO4 and AgVO3)can be responsible to the excellent lubricity of both *** sum up,the co.tings with transition multilayer interface have excellent adaptive lubricating properties and can properly co.trol the diffusion rate and release rate of the lubricating phase,indicating that they have great potential in solving the problem of friction and wear of mechanical parts.

Field study of plastic tube cast-in-place co.crete pile

The co.positions, technical principles and co.struction equipments of a new piling method used for ground improvement plastic tube cast-in-place co.crete pile were introduced. The results from static load tests on single piles with different forms of pile shoes and on their co.posite foundations were analyzed. The distribution patterns of axial force, shaft friction and toe resistance were studied based on the measurements taken from buried strain gauges. From the point of engineering application, the pile has merits in co.venient quality co.trol, high bearing capacity and reliable quality, showing higher reasonability, advancement and suitability than other ground improvement methods. The pile can be adopted properly to take place of ordinary ground improvement method, achieving greater eco.omical and social benefits.

Genetic variation in alkaloid accumulation in leaves of Nico.iana

Alkaloids are plant seco.dary metabolites that are widely distributed in Nico.iana species and co.tribute greatly to the quality of tobacco.leaves. Some alkaloids, such as nornico.ine and myosmine, have adverse effects on human health. To reduce the co.tent of harmful alkaloids in tobacco.leaves through co.ventional breeding, a genetic study of the alkaloid variation among different genotypes is required. In this study, alkaloid profiles in leaves of five Nico.iana tabacum cultivars and Nico.iana tomentosiformis were investigated. Six alkaloids were identified from all six genotypes via gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). Significant differences in alkaloid co.tent were observed both among different leaf positions and among cultivars. The co.tents of nornico.ine and myosmine were positively and significantly co.related(R2=0.881), and were also separated from those of other alkaloids by clustering. Thus, the genotype plays a major role in alkaloid accumulation, indicating a high potential for manipulation of alkaloid co.tent through traditional breeding.
