Autophagy is responsible for maintaining fundamental cellular homeostasis and is,therefore,essential for diverse development *** study reported that PoElp3,the putative catalytic subunit of Elongator complex,is involved in the maintenance of autophagy homeostasis to facilitate asexual development and pathogenicity in the rice blast fungus Pyricularia *** was found that the ΔPoelp3 strains were defective in vegetative growth,conidiation,stress response,and *** mutants exhibited hyper-activated autophagy in the vegetative hyphae under both nutrient-rich and nutrient-deficient *** hyper-activation of autophagy possibly suppressed the production of vegetative hyphae in the ΔPoelp3 ***,the ΔPoelp3 strains were found to be more sensitive to rapamycin during vegetative-and invasive-hyphal growth but have no effect on Target-of-Rapamycin(TOR)signaling *** together,these results demonstrated that PoElp3 is involved in asexual development and pathogenicity by regulating autophagy in the rice blast fungus.

Conservation management decreases surface runoff and soil erosion

Conservation management practices e including agroforestry,cover cropping,no-till,reduced tillage,and residue return e have been applied for decades to control surface runoff and soil erosion,yet results have not been integrated and evaluated across cropping *** this study we collected data comparing agricultural production with and without conservation management *** used a bootstrap resampling analysis to explore interactions between practice type,soil texture,surface runoff,and soil *** then used a correlation analysis to relate changes in surface runoff and soil erosion to 13 other soil health and agronomic indicators,including soil organic carbon,soil aggregation,infil-tration,porosity,subsurface leaching,and cash crop *** all conservation management practices,surface runoff and erosion had respective mean decreases of 67%and 80%compared with *** of cover cropping provided the largest decreases in erosion and surface runoff,thus emphasizing the importance of maintaining continuous vegetative cover on ***-and medium-textured soils had greater decreases in both erosion and runoff than fine-textured *** in surface runoff and soil erosion under conservation management were highly correlated with soil organic carbon,aggregation,porosity,infiltration,leaching,and yield,showing that conservation practices help drive important in-teractions between these different facets of soil *** study offers the first large-scale comparison of how different conservation agriculture practices reduce surface runoff and soil erosion,and at the same time provides new insight into how these interactions influence the improvement or loss of soil health。

Objectives To examine sequence variation in the ribosomal 18 S gene among taenia multiceps isolates from Hunan Province. Methods The 18 S gene was amplified from individual taenia multiceps isolate, and the 18 S sequences obtained were aligned using the ClustalX 1.81. Results The results showed that the lengths of 18 S sequences were 1 080 bp. The constructed phylogenetic tree revealed that the Hunan isolates and the Taenia multiceps available in Gen Bank were clustered in the same clade. Conclusion It is concluded that 18 S gene can be used as a genetic marker for population genetic studies of cestodes. The present study provided foundation for molecular epidemiology and diagnosis of taenia multiceps.

Confirmed Diagnosis by RT-PCR and Phylogenetic Analysis of Peste des Petits Ruminants Viruses in Tibet, China

This paper reports the confirmed diagnosis by nested RT-PCR of PPR cases in Tibet, China in 2007, and results of phylogenetic analysis. Results showed that the 11 tested samples were PPRV positive by nested RT-PCR, of which 2 samples were genetically close to the X7443 strain (Nigeria 75/1) of lineage I, and 3 samples close to the strain AY560591 (Sungri96) of linage IV with 96.6%、97.3%、97.6% and 98% nucleotide sequence homogeneity respectively, based on partial sequencing of the F gene from 5 samples and complete sequencing of the N/M/F/H genes from one sample. This study suggested that there are at least 2 origins of PPRV in China.

Location Distribution Characteristics in Leaf Lateral Asymmetry of Hybrid Indica Rice

Rice leaves show lateral *** in width,thickness,chlorophyll meter readings,nitrogen content,density,and yield on each asymmetrical have been ***,limited information is available on the distribution characteristics of the smooth side(SS)and rough side(RS)of rice *** SS of rice leaves can be divided into two types according to its location in leaf:one is the smooth side appearing on the left(SSAL)of the leaf,while the smooth side of the other type appears on the right(SSAR).Through the investigation of four rice varieties,we identified that the proportion of SSAL or SSAR of flag leaves on main stems or tillers was close to 0.50 in the rice *** the same tiller stem,SSAL and SSAR present alternately,and the SS always stretches ahead of the RS in the curled *** the tiller flag leaves of a single rice plant,the proportion of tiller flag leaves with SSAL or SSAR to the total number of tillers is a discrete random *** distribution analysis of these proportions showed that the percent of frequency of some class limits was close to each other,and the ratios of percent of frequency of SSAL to SSAR were close to 1:*** our knowledge,this is a novel finding in rice canopy *** to this study,we can divide rice population into two groups in four hybrid rice varieties.

Occupational ability consists of three levels according to the theory of system composition: special professional skills, industry generic skills and core skills. Analytic hierarchy process is used to establish the hierarchical structure model, construct the comparison matrix, calculate the weights of the factors and test the consistency. The factors influencing the fuzzy judgment matrix can be determined by using fuzzy evaluation method. Scores of the affecting factors can be got reversely, which provides the basis for the judgment of the students’ occupational ability levels and the affecting factors. Using fuzzy level evaluation to evaluate occupational ability of higher vocational students provides a new method for occupational ability evaluation.

The effects of antibacterial compounds produced by Saccharomyces cerevisiae in Koumiss on pathogenic Escherichia coli O8 and its cell surface characteristics were *** isolated from Koumiss produced antibacterial compounds which were active against pathogenic *** O8 as determined by the Oxford cup *** aqueous phases from *** at p H=2.0（S2）and pH=8.0（S8）were extracted and tested,*** organic acids of S2 and S8 were determined by high performance liquid chromatography（HPLC）,and the concentrations of killer toxins were determined by enhanced bicinchoninic acid（BCA）Protein Assay *** minimum inhibition concentration（MIC）and the minimum bactericidal concentration（MBC）of S2 and S8 on *** O8 were determined by the broth microdilution *** effects of S2 and S8 on the growth curve of *** O8 were determined by turbidimetry,and the hydrophobicities of *** O8 cell surface were determined using the microbial adhesion to solvents method,the permeation of *** O8 cell membrane were determined by the o-nitrophenyl-β-D-galactoside（ONPG）*** phases at pH 2.0 and 8.0had larger inhibition zones and then S2 and S8 were obtained by *** main component in S2 was citric acid and it was propanoic acid in *** organic acids and killer toxins were also *** the MICs of S2 and S8 on *** O8 were 0.025 g m L^-1,the MBCs were 0.100 and 0.200 g m L^-1,*** normal growth curve of *** O8was S-shaped,however,it changed after addition of S2 and *** O8 was the basic character,and had a relatively hydrophilic *** hydrophobicity of *** O8 cell surface and the permeation of *** O8 cell membrane were increased after adding S2 and *** present study showed that S2 and S8 inhibit the growth of pathogenic *** O8and influence its cell surface characteristics.

Research on the Achievement Motivation of the University Student Village Officials in the Suburbs of Beijing

[Objective] The aim was to explore the achievement motivation of the university student village officials in the suburbs of Beijing.[Method] The research made an investigation on 429 university student village officials in the suburbs of Beijing by the Achievements Motive Scale(AMS).[Result] The achievement motivation of these student village officials was not on a high level,but they tended to pursue the success motivation rather than the motivation to avoid failures *** was a significant difference in the achievement motivation between different genders,majors and *** males' motivation for success was higher than the females'.The motivation of avoiding failures among officials in Humanities was higher than in Science and in Fine *** the university student village officials in professional and technical posts or in business posts rated the motivation to avoid failures more important than in basic management *** achievement motivations in different urban-rural areas,educational levels,political backgrounds,whether student leaders or not,and durations were no definite ***,it had a significant effect on these student village officials' achievement motivation whether advices and suggestions were accepted;if yes,the motivation was higher.[Conclusion] This study had provided stability and development for building rural talent groups.
