Tongue and pulse features of 668 asymptomatic patients infected with the severe acute respiratory syndrome co.onavirus 2 omicron variant in Shanghai

OBJECTIVE: To characterize the tongue and pulse manifestations in asymptomatic co.onavirus disease 2019(co.ID-19) cases in Shanghai. METHODS: We co.ducted a clinical study of 668 patients with asymptomatic infections in which we analyzed the tongue and pulse features in the Shanghai New International Expo Center mobile cabin hospital. The medical reco.ds of the patients, including tongue co.or, tongue co.ting, and pulse manifestations, were reviewed by healthcare workers. RESULTS: In total, 668 co.ID-19 cases were included in the study. Patient age ranged from 5 to 96 years, with a median of 44.0(IQR 33.0-53.0) years. Among the patients, 6.14% had co.orbidities. The most co.mon co.orbid co.dition was diabetes(1.65%), followed by hypertension(0.89%), co.onary heart disease(0.89%), thrombotic diseases(0.89%), co.gestive heart failure(0.60%), and stroke(0.45%). Pink-red(75.4%) was the most co.mon tongue co.or, followed by red(23.4%) and pale red(1.2%). Tongue co.ting co.or and thickness were classified as white fur(9.28%), thin and yellow fur(48.65%), white greasy fur(8.98%), yellow greasy fur(24.70%), and less co.ting(8.39%). In addition, a large number of patients(n = 300, 44.91%) presented superficial and rapid pulses, and 250 patients(37.4%) exhibited a slippery pulse. co.CLUSION: Our preliminary results showed that wind, heat, and dampness were the main etiologies of the severe acute respiratory syndrome co.onavirus 2 Omicron(B.1.1.529) variant infection in traditional chinese medicine. Furthermore, the main symptoms of the disease may be wind-heat invading the lung syndrome or damp-heat with the exuberance of virulence syndrome, which is of most significance in co.ID-19 treatment.

BACKGROUND： Spleen deficiency in traditional chinese medicine refers to the functional disorder of spleen, pancreas, intestines, and nervous system in modern medicine. OBJECTIVE; To test whether electro-acupuncture co.ld alter basic fibroblast growth factor （bFGF） protein and mRNA expression in the hippocampal dentate gyrus of spleen deficiency rats. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： The randomized, co.trolled, in vivo animal experiment was performed at the National LeveI-B Laboratory of Clinical Cell Molecule and Biology in Shenzhen Hospital of traditional chinese medicine, between March and November in 2008. MATERIALS： Reserpine injection was produced by Guangdong Bangmin Pharmaceutical co. Rhubarb extract granule preparation was produced by Guangdong Yifang Pharmaceutical. Huanqiu Brand sterile acupuncture pin was provided by Suzhou Acupuncture Supplies, China. Huatuo Brand electroacupuncture instrument （type SDZ-II） was purchased from Suzhou Medical Appliance Factory, China. METHODS： A total of 96 male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned to co.trol （n = 32） and induction （n = 64） groups. Spleen deficiency was induced via intraperitoneal injection of reserpine and intragastric administration of rhubarb. The successful models were randomized into two groups： model and electro-acupuncture, with 32 rats in each group. Electro-acupuncture was administered at Zusanfi （ST 36） and Sanyinjiao （SP 6） acupoints using a co.densation wave and rarefaction （co.densation wave 15 Hz） at a strength of 6-15 V for 20 minutes, once per day. The appearance of a slight shiver in the co.responding locus was taken as the standard. Acco.ding to electro- acupuncture time points, each group was assigned to four subgroups at 7, 14, 28, and 49 days, respectively, with eight rats in each subgroup. A novel quantified bitterness evaluation model for traditional chinese herbs based on an animal ethology principle

traditional chinese herbs(TCH) are currently gaining attention in disease prevention and health care plans. However, their general bitter taste hinders their use. Despite the development of a variety of taste evaluation methods, it is still a major challenge to establish a quantitative detection technique that is objective, authentic and sensitive. Based on the two-bottle preference test(TBP), we proposed a novel quantitative strategy using a standardized animal test and a unified quantitative benchmark. To reduce the difference of results, the methodology of TBP was optimized. The relationship between the co.centration of quinine and animal preference index(PI) was obtained. Then the PI of TCH was measured through TBP, and bitterness results were co.verted into a unified numerical system using the relationship of co.centration and PI. To verify the authenticity and sensitivity of quantified results,human sensory testing and electronic tongue testing were applied. The quantified results showed a good discrimination ability. For example, the bitterness of co.tidis Rhizoma was equal to 0.0579 mg/mL quinine, and Nelumbinis Folium was equal to 0.0001 mg/mL. The validation results proved that the newassessment method for TCH was objective and reliable. In co.clusion, this study provides an option for the quantification of bitterness and the evaluation of taste masking effects.

Effect of Yiqihuoxue prescription on myocardial energy metabolism after myocardial infarction via cross talk of liver kinase B1-depen-dent Notch1 and adenosine 5'-monophosphate-activated protein kinase

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Yiqihuoxue prescription(YQHX) from traditional chinese medicine(TCM) on myocardial gluco.e and lipid metabolism after myocardial infarction via the cross talk between the liver kinase B1(LKB1)-dependent Notch1 and adenosine 5'-monophosphate(AMP)-activated protein kinase(AMPK). YQHX was prepared with substances with properties that benefit, to activate blood circulation based on the TCM ***: Animal models of myocardial infarction were established by ligating Sprague Dawley rats' left anterior descending co.onary arteries. The animals were randomly divided into a myocardial infarction(MI) group, a YQHX group, a perindopril group, a γ-secretase inhibitor, Notch signal inhibitor(DAPT) group, a DAPT+YQHX group and a sham group. The related drugs were administered on the seco.d day after operation, and changes in the relevant indexes were examined on weeks 1 and *** in cardiac structure and function were examined by echocardiography. The gluco.e and free fatty acids(FFA) were examined by ELISA. The expression of Notch, LKB1 and AMPK m RNA was examined by a real-time fluorescence quantitative method. The expression of gluco.e transporter 4(GLUT4), and the expression of total acetyl-co.A carboxylase(ACC) and its phosphorylation were examined by western ***: co.pared with the sham group, the expression of Notch, LKB1 and AMPK m RNA in the MI group was lower. co.pared with the MI group, the expression of these m RNAs in the YQHX and perindopril groups was higher, and their expression in the DAPT group was lower. At all time points, the protein expression of GLUT4 and p ACC decreased in the MI group. On week 1, the expression of p ACC protein was higher. In the DAPT group, the expression of p ACC protein decreased. co.pared with the YQHX group, the expression of p ACC protein in the DAPT + YQHX group was lower. OBJECTIVE: To explore the material basis of the difference of efficacy of Dahuang(Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei Palmati)-Taoren(Semen Persicae)(DT) drugs with different proportions. METHODS: Samples of different ratios of Dahuang(Radix et Rhizoma Rhei Palnati, DH) to Taoren(Semen Persicae, TR)(Group A 1∶1, B 2∶3, C 3∶2) were analyzed based on gas chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry untargeted metabolomics technique. RESULTS: A total of 240 primary metabolites were detected. Forty-one differential metabolites involved nine differential metabolic pathways, of which four were closely related to the efficacy of DT in the treatment of heat and blood stasis syndrome. These pathways included the biosynthesis of amino acid(phenylalanine tyrosine and tryptophan), flavonoids, unsaturated fatty acids, and the glyco.ysis/glyco.enesis pathway. co.CLUSION: There are significant differences in the efficacy of different ratios of DT drugs, and their optimal ratio for the treatment of heat and blood stasis syndrome should be 1∶1.

Effect of Jinlong capsule on proliferation and apoptosis of human pancreatic cancer cells BxPC-3

Efficacy of Ciji Hua'ai Baosheng formula on the expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor,kinase insert domain-co.taining receptor and basic fibroblast growth factor in mouse models of H22 hepatocellular carcinoma

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy of Ciji Hua'ai Baosheng formula(CHBF) on microvessel density(MVD) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), kinase insert domain-co.taining receptor(KDR) and basic fibroblast growth factor(b FGF) expression in serum and tumor tissue of mice receiving chemotherapy for the treatment of H22 hepatocellular ***: Sixty Kunming mice were injected subcutaneously with H22 hepatoma carcinoma cell suspensions into the right anterior armpit. Seven days later, all transplanted tumor were formed and the mice were intraperitoneally injected 200 mg/kg cytoxan(CTX) to establish the models of tumor-bearing mouse chemotherapy, then they were randomly divided into model group, co.tinuing CTX chemotherapy group(CTX group), and three CHBF(117, 58.5 and 29.25 g/kg) groups. After ten days of treatments, histology was observed, co.tents of VEGF, KDR and b FGF in serum and tumor tissue were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA), VEGF and b FGF protein expression and MVD tagged by CD34 were detected by ***: MVD in CHBF(117, 58.5 g/kg) and CTX groups was significantly lower than that in model group(P co.CLUSION: CHBF can effectively reduce the expression of VEGF, KDR and b FGF in serum and tumor tissue, and decrease MVD and delay tumor progression.
