Background:The traditional Chinese medicine NiuBeiXiaoHe(NBXH)extract and Chinese medicine preparation JieHeWan(JHW)exhibit anti-tuberculosis(TB)*** anti-TB effect of NBXH was compared with that of JHW to elucidate the mechanism of action of ***:BALB/c mice aged 6-8 weeks were randomly divided into a normal control group,TB model group,JHW treatment group,and NBXH treatment *** 3 and 13 weeks of treatment,the therapeutic effect in each group was evaluated by comparing lung histopathology,lung and liver colony counts,the number of spots representing effector T cells secreting IFN-γin an enzyme-linked immunospot assay(ELISPOT),and the levels of Th1,Th2,and Th17 cytokines,which were measured by a cytometric bead array(CBA).Mouse RNA samples were subjected to transcriptome ***:After 13 weeks of treatment,the mean histopathological lesion area of the NBXH group was significantly smaller than that of the TB model group(Pgroup,the lung colony counts in the JHW and NBXH groups were significantly decreased(Pgroup were significantly increased(Ptuberculosis(***)*** to GO and KEGG analyses,the changes in biological process(BP),cell composition(CC)and molecular function(MF)terms and in signaling pathways caused by NBXH and JHW treatment were not completely consistent,but they were mainly related to the immune response and inflammatory response in the mouse TB ***:NBXH had therapeutic effects similar to those of JHW in improving lung histopathology,reducing lung colony counts,and regulating the levels of *** restored significant changes in gene expression and repaired cell damage caused by *** infection by regulating immune-related pathways,which clarified the mechanism of action of NBXH.

Primate sanctuaries across Africa play a pivotal role in the rescue and rehabilitation of confiscated and rescued wild primates, many of whom have had extensive contact with humans prior to their arrival and throughout the rehabilitation process, heightening the risk of disease transmission. While tuberculosis is not naturally occurring in free-living chimpanzees, it has been extensively observed in captive primates that have been in close proximity to humans or other captive primates infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This case report delves into an outbreak of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis among juvenile chimpanzees within a sanctuary, detailing the associated diagnostic challenges and treatment approaches. The five cases had close contact with a caregiver infected with tuberculosis, subsequently transmitting the infection to other in-contact chimpanzees. Prolonged treatment, employing the human protocol of quadri-therapy (rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol), followed by bi-therapy (rifampicin and isoniazid), resulted in complete resolution for all five cases. These cases underscore the critical importance of maintaining high levels of biosecurity, implementing effective quarantine measures, and adhering to strict hygiene practices when working with non-human primates.

The Kenya Rift Valley is relatively prone to underground erosion ground fissures and associated disasters,which gravely hinder local engineering construction and economic *** this research,we performed field and experimental studies on ground fissures in the Kenya Rift Valley area,and determined the structural characteristics of underground erosion *** on a geological survey of the area,we generalized a geological model for typical ground fissures and reproduced the intermediate process of ground fissure propagation using a large-scale physical model ***,the development process of underground erosion fissures were categorized into four stages:uniform infiltration,preferential infiltration,cavity expansion,and collapse formation *** the development of underground erosion fissures,water content was distributed symmetrically along the fissures,and these fissures acted as the primary infiltration paths of *** the ground collapsed,the increase in negative pore water pressure was greater,whereas the increase in positive pore water pressure was less in the shallow soil;moreover,in the deep soil,the increase in positive pore water pressure was greater than that of negative pore water ***,the earth pressure increment initially increased and then decreased with the development of *** underground erosion collapse,the water content and pore water pressure appeared to increase and decrease *** results can be employed to predict the occurrence of underground erosion ground fissures and the resulting soil collapse.

Seismic design or retrofit of buildings with metallic structural fuses by the damage-reduction spectrum

Recently, the structural fuse has become an important issue in the field of earthquake engineering. Due to the trilinearity of the pushover curve of buildings with metallic structural fuses, the mechanism of the structural fuse is investigated through the ductility equation of a single-degree-of-freedom system, and the corresponding damage-reduction spectrum is proposed to design and retrofit buildings. Furthermore, the controlling parameters, the stiffness ratio between the main frame and structural fuse and the ductility factor of the main frame, are parametrically studied, and it is shown that the structural fuse concept can be achieved by specific combinations of the controlling parameters based on the proposed damage-reduction spectrum. Finally, a design example and a retrofit example, variations of real engineering projects after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design procedures using buckling restrained braces as the structural fuses.

Traffic accident severity prediction is essential for dynamic traffic safety *** explore the factors influencing the severity of traffic accidents on mountain freeways and to predict the severity of traffic accidents,four models based on machine learning algorithms are constructed using support vector machine(SVM),decision tree classifier(DTC),Ada_SVM and Ada_*** addition,random forest(RF)is used to calculate the importance degree of variables and the accident severity influences with high importance levels form the RF *** results show that rainfall intensity,collision type,number of vehicles involved in the accident and toad section type are important variables influencing accident *** RF feature selection method improves the classification performance of four machine leaming algorithms,resulting in a 9.3%,5.5%,7.2% and 3.6% improvement in prediction accuracy for SVM,DTC,Ada_SVM and Ada_DTC,*** combination of the Ada_SVM integrated algorithm and RF feature selection method has the best prediction performance,and it achieves 78.9% and 88.4% prediction precision and accuracy,respectively.

tuberculosis (TB) is a serious infectious disease and its control is considered a challenge, particularly among vulnerable populations such as prisoners. The prevalence of TB in prisons is an alarming public health problem in many countries. The aim of this study is to describe the epidemiology of tuberculosis and the strategies for controlling this disease in the Chadian prison population. During the course of our study, the prevalence of tuberculosis in prisons was 9.64%. The age group between 55 years and over (43.33%) was the most represented in this study, and all patients were men with a frequency of 62.66%. The cross-tabulation of Culture_7H9G and Culture_7H9P showed that out of our total positive sample, we found a total of 87 positive strains and 63 negative strains. Our study shows that it is essential to know the prevalence of tuberculosis in all the country’s prisons. Indeed, this can serve as an indication of the need for action in prisons to reduce TB rates, in particular by improving the structure of prison environments, diagnosing new cases quickly and accurately, identifying drug-resistant strains and implementing effective, direct treatment observed in people with tuberculosis.
