Genetic link between saline and carbonatitic mantle fluids:The system NaCl-CaCO_(3)-MgCO_(3)±H_(2)O±Fe^(0) at 6 GPa

Melt inclusions in kimberlitic minerals and diamonds indicate that chlorides are important constituents of mantle carbonatite ***,alkaline chlorides are important constituents of saline high-density fluids(HDFs)found in diamonds from kimberlites and placers around the *** compositional variations suggest that saline and carbonatitic HDFs could be genetically ***,the essence of this link remains unclear owing to the lack of data on phase relations in the chloridecarbonate systems under *** we studied subsolidus and melting phase relations in the system NaCl–CaCO_(3)–MgCO_(3)at 6 GPa and 1000–1600℃using a Kawai-type multianvil *** found that at 1000℃,subsolidus assemblage consists of halite,magnesite,and *** higher temperatures,the stabilization of dolomite splits the subsolidus area into two partial ternary fields:halite+magnesite+dolomite and halite+dolomite+*** minimum on the liquidus surface corresponds to the halite-dolomite-aragonite ternary eutectic,situated at 1100℃.The eutectic melt has Ca#89 and contains 30 wt.%Na Cl(26 mol%2NaCl).The system has two ternary peritectics:halite+dolomite=magnesite+liquid located near the ternary eutectic and magnesite+dolomite=Mg-dolomite+liquid situated between 1300 and 1400℃.Although under dry conditions incipient melting yields carbonatedominated melt,the addition of water facilitates the fusion of Na Cl and expands the liquid field to Na Cl-rich compositions with up to 70 wt.%Na *** obtained results favor the idea that hydrous saline melts/fluids(brines)found as inclusions in diamonds could be a lower temperature derivative of mantle carbonatite melts and disagree with the hypothesis on chloride melt generation owing to the chloridecarbonate liquid immiscibility since no such immiscibility was *** also studied the interaction of the NaCl–CaCO_(3)–MgCO_(3)system with iron metal and found that carbonate reduction produces Cbearing species(Fe^(0)

Change in carbonate budget and composition during subduction below metal saturation boundary

It is generally accepted that carbonates can be subducted to the mantle depths,where they are reduced with iron metal to produce a *** this work,we found that this is not always the *** mantle carbonates from inclusions in diamonds show a wide range of cation compositions(Mg,Fe,Ca,Na,and K).Here we studied the reaction kinetics of these carbonates with iron metal at 6-6.5 GPa and 1000-1500℃.We found that the reduction of carbonate with Fe produces C-bearing species(Fe,Fe-C melt,Fe_(3)C,F e_(7)C_(3),C)and wüistite containing Na_(2)O,CaO,and *** reaction rate constants(k=△x^(2)/2t)are log-linear relative to 1/T and their temperature dependences are determined to be k_(MgcO_(3))(m^(2)/s)=4.37×10^(-3)exp[-251(kJ/mol)/RT]k_(caMg(CO_(3))2)(m^(2)/s)=1.48×10^(-3)exp[-264(kJ/mol)/RT]k_(cacO_(3))(m^(2)/s)=3.06×10^(-5)exp[-245(kJ/mol)/RT]and k_(Na_(2)cO_(3))(m^(2)/s)=1.88×10^(-10)exp[-155(kJ/mol)/RT].According to obtained results at least,45-70 vol%of carbonates preserve during subduction down to the 660-km discontinuity if no melting *** slab stagnation and warming,subsequent carbonate melting,and infiltration into the mantle saturated with iron metal are accompanied by a reduction of carbonate melt with *** established sequence of reactivity of carbonates:FeCO_(3)≥MgCO_(3)>CaMg(CO_(3))2>CaCO_(3)>>Na_(2)CO_(3),where K_(2)CO_(3)does not react at all with iron metal,implies that during reduction carbonate melt with Fe evolves toward *** above conclusions are consistent with the findings of carbonates in inclusions in diamonds from the lower mantle and high concentrations of alkalis,particularly K,in mantle carbonatite melts entrapped by diamonds from kimberlites and placers worldwide.

A novel analytical procedure for the determination of gold by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry combined with selective liquid-liquid extraction by natural deep eutectic solvents(NADESs)is *** extraction ability of the NADESs prepared using menthol,thymol and camphor toward gold in hydrochloric acid solutions was *** extraction efficiency was improved by optimizing the parameters including the composition of the NADES s,the volume ratio of organic and aqueous phases,kinetics,and acidity of the *** determination of gold was carried out by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry directly in the NADES s phase dissolved in isopropyl *** extraction recovery of gold from 1 mol/L HCl with the NADESs based on menthol and camphor mixed in a molar ratio 1:1 was 99.7%at an enrichment factor of *** limits of detection and quantification of the proposed procedure were 1μg/L and 3.3μg/L,respectively,with a relative standard deviation of less than 5%.The developed procedure was applied for determination of gold in the certified reference material of ore,environmental and waste waters.

We present petrography and mineral chemistry for both phlogopite,from mantle-derived xenoliths (garnet peridotite,eclogite and clinopyroxene-phlogopite rocks) and for megacryst,macrocryst and groundmass flakes from the Grib kimberlite in the Arkhangelsk diamond province of Russia to provide new insights into multi-stage metasomatism in the subcratonic lithospheric mantle (SCLM) and the origin of phlogopite in *** on the analysed xenoliths,phlogopite is characterized by several *** first generation (Phl1) occurs as coarse,discrete grains within garnet peridotite and eclogite xenoliths and as a rock-forming mineral within clinopyroxene-phlogopite *** second phlogopite generation (Phl2) occurs as rims and outer zones that surround the Phl1 grains and as fine flakes within kimberlite-related veinlets filled with carbonate,serpentine,chlorite and *** garnet peridotite xenoliths,phlogopite occurs as overgrowths surrounding garnet porphyroblasts,within which phlogopite is associated with Cr-spinel and minor *** eclogite xenoliths,phlogopite occasionally associates with carbonate bearing veinlet ***,from the kimberlite,occurs as megacrysts,macrocrysts,microcrysts and fine flakes in the groundmass and matrix of kimberlitic *** phlogopite grains within the kimberlite are characterised by signs of deformation and form partly fragmented grains,which indicates that they are the disintegrated fragments of previously larger ***1,within the garnet peridotite and clinopyroxeneephlogopitexenoliths,is characterised bylow Ti and Cr contents (TiO292) typical of primary peridotite phlogopite in mantle peridotite xenoliths from global kimberlite *** formed during SCLM metasomatism that led to a transformation from garnet peridotite to clinopyroxene-phlogopite rocks and the crystallisation of phlogopite and high-Cr clinopyroxene megacrysts before the

Industrial and agricultural activities lead to the release of rare earth elements(REEs)in wastewater and aquatic ecosystems,and their accumulation in ***,the behavior of REEs in soils remains somewhat *** the present work the fractionation and fixation of REEs in soddy-podzolic and chernozem soils spiked with La,Ce,and Nd chlorides were studied using dynamic(continuous flow)extraction,which allows natural conditions to be mimicked and artefacts to be *** eluents applied are aimed to dissolve exchangeable,specifically sorbed,bound to Mn oxides,bound to metal-organic complexes,and bound to amorphous and poorly ordered Fe/Al oxides fractions extractable by 0.05 mol/L Ca(NO_(3))2,0.43 mol/L CH_(3)COOH,0.1 mol/L NH_(2)OH·HCl,0.1 mol/L K_(4)P_(2)O_(7) at pH 11,and 0.1 mol/L(NH4)_(2)C_(2)O_(4) at pH 3.2,*** is found that the fixations of added La,Ce,and Nd in the form of metal-organic complexes is predominant for both types of soils:35%-38%in soddy-podzolic soil and 50%-79%in *** fixation of added elements in the first three fractions(exchangeable,specifically sorbed,and bound to Mn oxides)is significant for soddy-podzolic soil(5%-25%).For chernozem,the relative contents of added Ce and Nd in these fractions are nearly *** the content of exchangeable La is notable,about 5%.Adding any of three elements(La,Ce,or Nd)at the level of100 mg/kg to an initial sample results in changing the fractionation and bioaccessibility of other REEs present in *** contents increase in the first three fractions and decrease in fifth(oxalate extractable)fraction for both soddy-podzolic soil and *** main difference is the behavior of REEs in pyrophosphate extractable *** soddy-podzolic soil,adding La,Ce,or Nd results in decreasing the contents of other REEs associated with organic *** chernozem,on the contrary,the contents of REEs in the form of metal-organic complexes slightly *** processes

Gas-Dust Protoplanetary Disc: Modeling Collisional Interaction of Primordial Bodies

One of the key problems in the concept of planetary systems origin and early evolution is solid bodies formation in the protoplanetary gas-dust disc around young stars. Dust particles interactions inside the original fluffy dust clusters of fractal nature resulted from gravitational instability and fragmentation in the disc’s central plane areassumed as the most plausible mechanism of primary bodies set up owing to particles integration within the clusters. Follow upcollisions are regarded to be responsible for eventual growth of primary bodies to the size of planetesimals. We discuss this scenario including chemical nature of particles depending on the disc’s radial temperature distribution and phase transitions. The mathematical model is developed based on the method of penetrating particles with the account for internal structure/properties of bodies involved, complicated patterns of their interaction, and phenomenological approach to describe energy distribution in the contact zone. The model is mainly addressed to the stage of formed solid bodies collisions. The results of numerical evaluation of the model are described involving some constraints for complete or partial destruction of colliding bodies followed by either scattering of collisional fragments orpartial back accumulation.

Tourmalinization at the Darasun goldfield,Eastern Transbaikalia:Compositional,fluid inclusion and isotopic constraints

Zoned tourmaline （schorl-dravite） in the matrix of hydrothermal explosive breccia and ore veins in gold deposits, Chita region, Eastern Transbaikalia, Russia, are associated with Na- and K-rich porphyry-type subvolcanic intrusives. 61So values of tourmaline from three gold deposits （Darasun, Talatui, Teremkinskoye） are ＋8.3%, ＋7.6%, and --6.0% and calculated 6180 values of fluids respon- sible for the tourmalinization are ＋7.3%, ＋7.7%, and ＋4.2%, respectively. These data imply an igneous fluid source, except at the Teremkin deposit where mixing with meteoric water is indicated. Wide ranges of Fe3＋/Fetot and the presence of vacancies characterize the Darasun deposit tourmaline indicating wide ranges off（O2） and pH of mineralizing fluids. Initial stage tourmalines from the gold deposits of the Darasun ore district are dravite or high mg schorl. Second stage tourmaline is characterized by oscillatory zoning but with Fe generally increasing towards crystal rims indicating decreasing temperature. Third stage tourmaline formed unzoned crystals with XMg （mole fraction of Mg） close to that of the first stage tourmaline, due to a close association with pyrite and arsenopyrite. From Fe^3＋/Fetot values, chemical composition and crystallization temperatures, logf（O2） of mineralizing fluids ranged from ca. -25 to 20, much higher than for the gold-bearing beresite-listvenite association, indicating that tourmalinization was not related to gold mineralization.

Actual Robots for Scientific Research of Moon and Creation of a Circumlunar Infrastructure

It is shown that the stage of research of the moon substance using reusable airborne landing gears(MVPA)equipped with reusable scientific equipment can be reduced by almost ten times compared with the period of performing one-time scientific missions to the moon’s surface with the same amount of scientific tasks and similar mass of lunar material delivered to the earth. The proposed concept can be developed both in ensuring the forthcoming manned expeditions to the moon,and independently of them,ensuring the flexibility and continuity of a complex scientific program. The author comes to the conclusion that it is necessary to deploy an automatic lunar orbital station(LOS)in a low lunar orbit(LLO),the main task of which is to maintain equipment for refueling MVPA,retrofitting with scientific equipment and radio engineering support for operations on the lunar surface. The author presents configurations of promising robots-platforms for scientific technology,which cover the list of actual scientific tasks for the coming decades for a detailed study of the moon.

U-Blacks Mineralization in Sandstone Uranium Deposits

Crystalline and melt inclusions were studied in garnet,diopside,potassium feldspar,and sphene from the garnet syenite porphyry of the carbonatite-bearing complex Mushugai-Khuduk,southern ***,clinopyroxene,albite,potassium feldspar,spheric,wollastonite,magnetite,Ca and Sr sulfates,fluorite,and apatite were identified among the crystalline inclusions. The melt inclusions were homogenized at 1010～1080℃and analyzed on an electron ***,salt,and combined silicate- salt melt inclusions were *** melts show considerable variations in SiO_2 concentration(56 to 66wt% ),high Na_2O+K_2O (up to 17wt% ),and elevated Zr,F,and C1 *** terms of bulk rock chemistry,the silicate melts are alkali *** thermometric experiments,salt melt inclusions quenched into homogeneous glasses of predominantly sulfate compositions containing no more than 1.3wt% SiO_*** melts are enriched in alkalis,Ba,Sr,P,F,and *** investigation of the silicate and salt melt inclusions in minerals of the garnet syenite porphyries indicate that these rocks were formed under influence of the processes of crystallization differentiation and magma separation into immiscible silicate and salt(sulfate)liquids.
