California mandated that 100% of vehicles sold must be electric by 2035. As electric vehicles (EVs) reach a higher penetration of the car sector, cities will need to provide publicly accessible charging stations to meet the charging demand of people who do not have access to a private charging spot like a personal garage. We have chosen to limit our scope to san Diego County due to its non-trivial size, well-defined shape, and dependence on personal vehicles;this project models 100% of current vehicles as electric, roughly 2.5 million. By planning for the future, our model becomes more useful as well as more equitable. We anticipate that our model will find locations that can service multiple population centers, while also maximizing distance to other stations. Sensitivity analysis and testing of our algorithms are conducted for Coronado Island, an island with 24,697 residents. Our formulation is then scaled to set the parameters for the whole county.

Estrogen deficiency in postmenopausal women is a major cause of bone loss,resulting in osteopenia,osteoporosis,and a high risk for bone *** 43 (Cx43) hemichannels (HCs) in osteocytes play an important role in osteocyte viability,bone formation,and *** showed here that estrogen deficiency reduced Cx43 expression and HC *** determine if functional HCs protect osteocytes and bone loss during estrogen deficiency,we adopted an ovariectomy model in wild-type (WT) and two transgenic Cx43 mice:R76W (dominant-negative mutant inhibiting only gap junction channels) and Cx43 Δ130–136 (dominant-negative mutant compromising both gap junction channels and HCs).The bone mineral density (BMD),bone structure,and histomorphometric changes of cortical and trabecular bones after ovariectomy were *** results showed that the Δ130–136 transgenic cohort had greatly decreased vertebral trabecular bone mass compared to WT and R76W mice,associated with a significant increase in the number of apoptotic osteocyte and empty ***,osteoclast surfaces in trabecular and cortical bones were increased after ovariectomy in the R76W and WT mice,respectively,but not in Δ130–136 *** data demonstrate that impairment of Cx43 HCs in osteocytes accelerates vertebral trabecular bone loss and increase in osteocyte apoptosis,and further suggest that Cx43 HCs in osteocytes protect trabecular bone against catabolic effects due to estrogen deficiency.

A case of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with pulmonary recurrence after liver transplantation for HCC is presented in this report. The patient showed disease progression on sorafenib therapy demonstrated by computed tomography scans as well as serial serum α-fetoprotein (AFP) elevation. After his immunosuppression therapy was successfully transitioned to sirolimus and a continuation of sorafenib, he achieved partial remission based on RECIST criteria and normalization of AFP. Mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors including sirolimus alone or in conjunction with sorafenib may be useful in the treatment of post transplant HCC.

To extend the lifetime of wireless sensor net- works, reducing and balancing energy consumptions are main concerns in data collection due to the power constrains of the sensor nodes. Unfortunately, the existing data collec- tion schemes mainly focus on energy saving but overlook bal- ancing the energy consumption of the sensor nodes. In ad- dition, most of them assume that each sensor has a global knowledge about the network topology. However, in many real applications, such a global knowledge is not desired due to the dynamic features of the wireless sensor network. In this paper, we propose an approximate self-adaptive data col- lection technique （ASA）, to approximately collect data in a distributed wireless sensor network. ASA investigates the spatial correlations between sensors to provide an energy- efficient and balanced route to the sink, while each sensor does not know any global knowledge on the network. We also show that ASA is robust to failures. Our experimental results demonstrate that ASA can provide significant communica- tion （and hence energy） savings and equal energy consump- tion of the sensor nodes.

Ulmus crassifolia Nutt. (Cedar elm, Ulmaceae) is a tree found in central and east texas, northern Mexico, east to Florida, and north to southern Missouri and Oklahoma. Ungnadia speciosa Endl. (Mexican-buckeye, Sapindaceae) is a shrub or small tree found in woodlands and savannas of central and western texas, southern New Mexico and northern Mexico. In central texas, both species are found in Juniperus ashei/Quercus virginiana woodlands or savannas or also at low density in inter-canopy grassland gaps or patches. Environmental conditions in this area are stressful because of shallow soils, high summer temperatures, and inconsistent low rainfall. Currently, both species have a low density in these areas, and Ulmus crassifolia is usually a tree, while Ungnadia speciosa is a woody understory shrub. This study suggests U. crassifolia and U. speciosa are tolerant or intermediate species, with juveniles starting in shade. Maximum photosynthetic rate (Amax), dark respiration (Rd), intercellular CO2, light saturation (Lsp) and water use efficiency significantly increased when light levels and CO2 concentrations were elevated for both species, but not when temperatures were elevated. Stomatal conductance decreased when the CO2 concentration doubled, but there were few effects from elevated temperature. These findings suggest that U. speciosa and U. crassifolia should be more common and imply that they will have a higher density in a future high CO2 environment.
