We report the experimental demonstration of fluorescence of CdSe quantum dots with surface plasmon excitation in deep-ultraviolet （deep-UV） region. Surface plasmon resonance in deep-UV is excited by aluminum thin film in the Kretschmann-Raether geometry. Considering the oxidation thickness of aluminum, the experimental results of incident angle dependence of reflectance show good agreement with Fresnel theory. Surface plasmon resonance with 19 nm-thick aluminum and 5 nm-thick almnina was excited at the incident angle of 48 degrees for 266 nm excitation. Fluorescence of CdSe quantum dots coated on this aluminum film was observed by the surface plasmon excitation.

Poaceae plant species,such as silver grass,are commonly used in mulching activities *** contrast,local farmers have traditionally used Japanese knotweed(Fallopia japonica)mulch in the cultivation of solanaceous crops in the Nishi-Awa area of Japan,which is a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems *** have previously evaluated the positive effects of Japanese knotweed mulching on solanaceous crops,such as eggplants,tomato,and *** the present study,we observed that the naturally occurring diseases in the solanaceous crops tended to decrease when the knotweed mulching system was adopted,in comparison to when Poaceae mulch was *** eggplants,leaf mold and powdery mildew decreased under Japanese knotweed *** further evaluated the effects of Japanese knotweed mulching by inoculating test plants with Pseudomonas *** observed suppression of bacterial disease and tomato mosaic virus under Japanese knotweed mulching and following spraying with Japanese knotweed *** addition,disease-resistance genes were expressed at high levels in Arabidopsis thaliana,a model plant,following treatment with Japanese knotweed *** results suggest that Japanese knotweed has potential applications in future sustainable agriculture activities.

Bud endodormancy is a complex physiological process that is indispensable for the survival,growth,and development of deciduous perennial *** timely release of endodormancy is essential for flowering and fruit production of deciduous fruit trees.A better understanding of the mechanism of endodormancy will be of great help in the artificial regulation of endodormancy to cope with climate change and in creating new cultivars with different chilling *** in poplar have clarified the mechanism of vegetative bud endodormancy,but the endodormancy of floral buds in fruit trees needs further *** this review,we focus on the molecular regulation of endodormancy induction,maintenance and release in floral buds of deciduous fruit *** also describe recent advances in quantitative trait loci analysis of chilling requirements in fruit *** discuss phytohormones,epigenetic regulation,and the detailed molecular network controlling endodormancy,centered on SHORT VEGETATIVE PHASE(SVP)and Dormancy-associated MADS-box(DAM)genes during endodormancy maintenance and *** previous studies and our observations,we propose a regulatory model for bud endodormancy and offer some perspectives for the future.

This paper describes the conductor eddy current loss that occurs in a permanent magnet type synchronous motor with a distributed winding stator using a rectangular copper wire designed for mild hybrid system applications for small *** with the conventional round wire inserter method,the space factor can be improved and the coil-end length can be shortened by applying a so-called hairpin windings using a pre-formed into hairpin shape of bar conductor,and as a result,DC current resistance of the armature winding can be ***,since the conductor cross-sectional area tends to increases,the conductor eddy current loss generated by the space harmonics linkage becomes too large to *** order to study the reduction of the conductor eddy current loss,it is important to visualize the spatial leakage flux distribution which causes loss and finely analyze how the magnetic path is ***,analysis of the conductor eddy current loss distribution generated in the bar-wound conductor is performed using the CAE model that faithfully reproduces the coil-end shape of the actual ***,it was qualitatively clarified what ratio of conductor eddy current loss at various driving ***,the results of preliminary study on reduction of conductor eddy current loss are reported.

Development of a Hybrid Pin Joint with a Compressed Wooden Dowel and Metal Pipe

A newly developed hybrid pin (HP), composed of a compressed wooden dowel inserted into a stainless steel pipe is suggested in this research. This configuration is expected to grant high stiffness by bending performance of the metal pipe and rich ductility through shear deformation of compressed wooden dowel without brittle split of the joint member. Experimental tests were performed in order to verify your assumptions and pursue an optimum design. Double shear test perpendicular to the grain of HP was conducted with parameter of thickness and loading direction for base member for pin’s diameter. Rotational test for mortise and tenon joint inserted with HP was performed in order to evaluate the moment resisting performance. Consequently, the hybrid pin showed satisfactory performance as shear type fastener by virtues of not only relatively high stiffness but also rich ductility originated from the properties of each component, stain less steel pipe and compressed wood.

An overall two-dimensional numerical model of the miniature flat plate capillary pumped loop （CPL） evaporator is developed to describe the liquid and vapor flow, heat transfer and phase change in the porous wick structure, liquid flow and heat transfer in the compensation cavity and heat transfer in the vapor grooves and metallic wall. The entire evaporator is solved with SIMPLE algorithm as a conjugate problem. The effect of heat conduction of metallic side wall on the performance of miniature flat plate CPL evaporator is analyzed, and side wall effect heat transfer limit is introduced to estimate the performance of evaporator. The shape and location of vapor-liquid interface inside the wick are calculated and the influences of applied heat flux, liquid subcooling, wick material and metallic wall material on the evaporator performance are investigated in detail. The numerical results obtained are useful for the miniature flat plate evaporator performance optimization and design of CPL.

Background:This study investigated the agreement between a new rebound tonometer,IC200,and IcarePRO and Goldmann applanation tonometry(GAT).Methods:This was a prospective cross-sectional *** measured the intraocular pressure(IOP)in 145 eyes of 145 glaucoma patients in the sitting position using GAT,IcarePRO,and *** and IC200 measurements were also obtained in the supine ***200 measurement was performed using two modes:single six(IC200-single)and automatic(IC200-continuous)six-measurements ***:All tonometers provided high reproducibility in both positions(all intraclass correlation coefficients>0.90),although it was highest with GAT,followed by IC200-continuous and IC200-single and then *** the sitting position,the mean(±SD)IOPs of GAT,IcarePRO,IC200-single,and IC200-continuous were 14.5±2.9 mmHg,13.3±3.2 mmHg,11.6±3.2 mmHg,and 11.5±3.2 mmHg,*** measured with IcarePRO or IC200 were significantly lower than those with GAT,particularly in patients with low *** measured with all tonometers were significantly elevated in the supine position as compared with the sitting position,but this difference was significantly greater with IC200-single and IC200-continuous compared with *** elevation was significant in eyes without bleb versus those with bleb,but this finding was not observed when IOP was measured with *** IOPs of the single and continuous modes of IC200 were interchangeable in both ***:GAT,IcarePRO,and IC200 had sufficiently high reproducibility,but measurements with IcarePRO may not be accurate in the supine *** of IOP in the supine position,especially in eyes with bleb,was more sensitively captured with IC200 than with IcarePRO.
