In most European countries,Pediatric Orthopedic (PO) surgeons graduated from an approved Orthopedic and Trauma surgery training program which lasts 5 or 6 years,depending on the *** completion of the Orthopedic and Trauma surgery program,the future PO surgeon must complete an additional subspecialty training (one to two years,depending on the country) in PO *** possibility to become a certified PO surgeon through the specialization in Pediatric Surgery (option Orthopedics) or through a dedicated PO surgery training program only exists in France and in Romania,*** as active and fully responsible PO surgeon can only be claimed when the trainee has actively participated in all phases of treatment,from diagnosis to treatment,without forgetting the management of complications and the setting up of an adequate follow-up of children and adolescents with musculoskeletal disorders.

We directly measure optical bound states in the continuum(BICs)by embedding a photodetector into a photonic crystal *** BICs observed in our experiment are the result of accidental phase matching between incident,reflected and in-plane waves at seemingly random wave vectors in the photonic band *** measurements were confirmed through a rigorously coupled-wave analysis simulation in conjunction with temporal coupled mode *** mixing between photonic crystal slab modes was observed and described using a plane wave expansion *** ability to probe the field intensity inside the photonic crystal and thereby to directly measure BICs represents a milestone in the development of integrated opto-electronic devices based on BICs.

The aim of the work was the modification of a carbon nanotube paste electrode with a highly original osmium-polymer hydrogel for the development of a new amperometric biosensor for detection of sucrose and fructose. The biosensor for sucrose is based on the activity of the enzymes invertase and fructose dehydrogenase (FDH) immobilized into a carbon nanotube paste (CNTP) electrode properly modified with the Os-polymer. A second biosensor, for fructose only, is constructed containing inactive invertase and used for detection of fructose and for signal subtraction. The biosensors exhibit a detection limit for sucrose of 2 mM and for fructose of 1 mM, linearity up to 5 mM for both biosensors, high sensitivity (1.98 mA·cm-2·mM for sucrose and 1.95 mA·cm-2·mM for fructose), a good reproducibility (RSD = 2.5% for sucrose and 2.1% for fructose), fast response time (8 s for sucrose and 4 s for fructose) and a stability of about 4 months for both biosensors when stored under wet conditions at 4°C. Finally, the biosensors were applied for specific determination of sucrose and fructose in several commercial fruit juice samples and validated with a commercial spectrophotometric enzymatic kit.

AIM: To reduce postoperative complications and to make possible an optimal cytoreduction, neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NACT) followed by interval debulking surgery has been applied with encouraging results. METHODS: Between December 2009 and February 2012, patients with stage ⅢC-Ⅳ epithelial ovarian cancer(EOC) underwent diagnostic laparoscopy, to assess the feasibility of optimal debulking surgery. The modifi ed Fagotti score was applied to assess the feasibility of resection with zero residual tumor. Patients who were not candidate for upfront debulking surgery were submitted to NACT, then reassessed according to the RECIST 1.1 criteria and submitted to cytoreductive surgery(CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy(HIPEC) if they showed clinical response or stable disease. The remaining cycles of adjuvant systemic chemotherapy(ASCT) were administered postoperatively, to complete 6 cycles of systemic ***: Nine patients were included. Clinical response to NACT was complete in 3 patients and partial in 5 patients; one patient had stable disease. All patients underwent CRS resulting in CC0 disease prior to HIPEC. Average operative time was 510 min. Average intensive care unit stay was 2 d. Average postoperative hospital stay was 25 d. No postoperative mortality was observed. One patient experienced pelvic abscess. One patient refused ASCT. The remaining 8 patients started ASCT. Average time to chemotherapy was 36 d. All patients are alive, with an average follow up of 11 mo. Eight patients are disease-free at follow ***: HIPEC after CRS for advanced EOC is feasible with acceptable morbidity and mortality. NACT may increase the chance for achieving complete cytoreduction. Phase 3 studies are needed to determine the effects of HIPEC on survival.

Background:The role of prophylactic levosimendan in coronary surgery has not been established ***:Postoperative outcomes of 139 patients(mean age,68.2±9.6 years)having preoperative left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)≤40%and undergoing isolated coronary surgery(2013-2017)were reviewed *** 42(30.2%)patients(L-group),an intravenous infusion of levosimendan was started 24 hours before *** remaining 97(69.8%)patients were the control group(C-group).A comparison between the two groups regarding outcome of surgery was performed also after propensity ***:Although the risk profile in L-patients was higher than in C-patients(median European System for Cardiac Operative Risk Evaluation II,10.5%vs.6.5%,P=0.013)due to higher prevalence of New York Heart Association class III-IV,LVEF≤30%,and preoperative intra-aortic balloon pump,in-hospital mortality was equivalent(4.8%vs.3.1%,P=0.48).However,low cardiac output,multiple blood transfusion,and any major complication early after surgery were more frequent in *** one-to-one propensity matching,which resulted in 15 pairs with similar baseline characteristics the use of levosimendan was associated with a trend towards an increased blood use(P=0.077),a higher frequency of any major complication(P=0.053),and lower peak serum levels of cardiac troponin I(P=0.088).No intergroup differences concerning mid-term survival or outcomes were found even for matched ***:When compared with traditional inotropes alone,prophylactic use of levosimendan showed clear benefits/drawbacks neither concerning immediate nor mid-term outcomes after coronary *** could be any advantage in terms of myocardial preservation.

In recent years,there has been a growing interest in exploring alternative treatments for bone *** tissue engineering has turned its attention to plant extracts containing osteogenic flavonoids as potential promoters of bone *** our study,we specifically investigated the extract of Petroselinum crispum,a plant known for its abundance of osteogenic flavonoids such as apigenin,quercetin,and *** objective was to compare the total flavonoid content(TFC)and their accumulation in different *** obtained hydrolyzed aqueous extracts from the leaves of parsley plants(grown for 12 weeks in the field),weekly embryogenic cultures,and suspension cell *** TFC,measured in mg quercetin equivalent per gram of dry weight(QE mg/g dw),was found to be 53.81±0.97 for 52 g dw of leaves(1 kg plant fw),31.10±1.52 for 420 g dw of embryogenic cultures,and 11.80±0.76 for 210 g dw of cell ***,only the leaves and embryogenic cultures showed significant accumulation of osteogenic flavonoids,with apigenin levels of 1.8±0.3 and 0.32±0.02 mg/g dw,and kaempferol levels of 1.0±0.18 and 0.2±0.01 mg/g dw,*** findings indicate that embryogenic cultures have the potential to produce up to 40%more apigenin in 12 weeks compared to 1 kg of parsley plant,thanks to their superior biomass reproductive *** results present a promising biotechnological approach for generating extracts enriched with bioactive compounds,which can be further utilized in in vitro osteogenic testing.

While the structures of plant primary metabolic pathways are generally well defined and highly conserved across species,those defining specialized metabolism are less well characterized and more highly variable across *** this study,we investigated polyphenolic metabolism in the lycopersicum complex by characterizing the underlying biosynthetic and decorative reactions that constitute the metabolic network of polyphenols across eight different species of *** this purpose,GC-MS-and LC-MS-based metabolomics of different tissues of Solatium lycopersicum and wild tomato species were carried out,in concert with the evaluation of cross-hybridized microarray data for MapMan-based transcriptomic analysis,and publicly available RNA-sequencing data for annotation of biosynthetic *** combined data were used to compile species-specific metabolic networks of polyphenolic metabolism,allowing the establishment of an entire pan-species biosynthetic framework as well as annotation of the functions of decoration enzymes involved in the formation of metabolic diversity of the flavonoid *** combined results are discussed in the context of the current understanding of tomato flavonol biosynthesis as well as a global view of metabolic shifts during fruit *** results provide an example as to how large-scale biology approaches can be used for the definition and refinement of large specialized metabolism pathways.

In Arabidopsis,photoperiodic flowering is controlled by the regulatory hub gene CONSTANS(CO),whereas floral organ senescence is regulated by the jasmonates(JAs).Because these processes are chronologically ordered,it remains unknown whether there are common regulators of both *** this study,we discovered that CO protein accumulates in Arabidopsis flowers after floral induction,and it displays a diurnal pattern in floral organs different from that in the *** observed that altered CO expression could affect flower senescence and abscission by interfering with JA response,as shown by petal-specific transcriptomic analysis as well as CO overexpression in JA synthesis and signaling *** found that CO has a ZIM(ZINC-FINGER INFLORESCENCE MERISTEM)like domain that mediates its interaction with the JA response repressor JAZ3(jasmonate ZIM-domain 3).Their interaction inhibits the repressor activity of JAZ3,resulting in activation of downstream transcription factors involved in promoting flower ***,we showed that CO,JAZ3,and the E3 ubiquitin ligase COI1(Coronatine Insensitive 1)could form a protein complex in planta,which promotes the degradation of both CO and JAZ3 in the presence of *** together,our results indicate that CO,a key regulator of photoperiodic flowering,is also involved in promoting flower senescence and abscission by augmenting JA signaling and *** propose that coordinated recruitment of photoperiodic and JA signaling pathways could be an efficient way for plants to chronologically order floral processes and ensure the success of offspring production.
