Influence of Tectonics and Morphometric Features on the Landslide Distribution: A Case Study from the Mesima Basin (calabria, South Italy)

Identifying the instability areas provides useful information about the recognition of the vulnerable zones and,thus,helps to potentially decrease the harm to the infrastructure and the hazard conditions in inhabited *** this regard,morphometric parameters and tectonic setting are widely employed in mapping,modelling and understanding of instability *** present study is aimed to analyse the combined effects of slope morphometry(slope gradient,slope curvature,local relief),of lithology,of drainage density and of tectonic setting on the distribution of *** study area is located in the Mesima Basin that lies in the central part of the calabria region(southern Italy).The morphometric analysis was carried out by geographic information system(GIS)techniques,whereas the geomorphic attributes were computed by a digital elevation model(DEM).The recognized landslides and faults were digitized and stored in a GIS geo-database that allowed the construction of relative density maps.A total of 1991 landslides and 231 tectonic lineaments were recognized and *** distribution of the collected data suggests that the occurrence of landslides is not ***,the research highlights as the lithology,the fault density,the slope gradient and the local relief play an important role in determining the landslide *** used approach is aimed to reinforce the knowledge about the validity of the application of morphometric analysis to the landslide *** Mesima Basin is a poorly studied area of the calabria from a geomorphological ***,previous researches focused mainly on geological and on tectonic aspects,as well as on instability phenomena in the Mesima ***,this paper takes a step forward with respect to previous studies because it augments the knowledge about the relationship between faults,morphometric features and the occurrence of landslide.

On the Optimal Design of Cable Driven Parallel Robot with a Prescribed Workspace for Upper Limb Rehabilitation Tasks

This paper deals with an optimization approach to design a cable driven parallel robot intended for upper limb rehabilitation tasks. The cable driven parallel robots have characteristics that make them best candidate for rehabilitation exercise purposes such as large workspace, re-configurable architecture, portability and cost effectiveness. Here, both the cable tensions that are needed to move a wristband as well as the workspace need to be carefully optimized for fulfilling the prescribed operation tasks. A specific case of study is addressed in this work by referring to LA RM wire driven exercising device (LAWEX), which is applied to upper limbs exercises. To that end, a motion capture system is used to collect quantitative data on the prescribed workspace of a human upper limb. A specific optimization problem is settled up for considering combining two optimization goals, namely, the smallest robot size reaching a prescribed workspace and the minimum cable tension distributions. A sequence of optimization steps is defined using Genetic Algorithms (GAs) applied to LAWEX robot. The proposed objective function is based on a mathematical formulation of the power of a point with respect to bounding surfaces in combination with a performance index to show the distributions of the minimum cable tensions.

Impact Dynamics on Granular Plate

In this paper, a theoretical and numerical study on the impact of a rubber solid on the free surface of a granular plate is presented, showing a simulation of an aircraft wheel on impact with a flexible landing surface. This physical action, when we use a theological approach, becomes a fundamental parameter to investigate wear and tear, and consequently strength to micro and macro pavements failure. The study has developed initially from a microscopic point of view and subsequently on macroscale. The effects are strictly linked with material degradation associated with damage evolution. The problem is developed by energetic approach on an elastic-plastic element using the functional energy containing two contributions, bulk and surface. The model simulates the behaviour of flexible runway pavements during the landing phase.

This paper describes the basic notions of a model intended to allow for a quantitative analysis of the legal phenomenon of a comprehensive and universal sphere of applicability. It is part of a more general ongoing research project, and it specifically deals with some aspects of the model, such as its partition in legal statics and legal dynamics, non-organic and organic. In effect, we will introduce a series of elementary components of the legal system, the ideas of legal values and legal order, and then the axiological organisms which compose such system, and some concepts about their interaction, even through the use of vector representation. To this end, we will outline the structural features of legal positions, situations, rules and principles, the entities at stake whenever a legal conflict occurs among entitlements and an adjudication process is needed for. Finally, we will define the concept of legal mass, according to its information capacity, distinguishing conceptual mass and gap mass.

Study of Band Gap of Carbon Nanotube-Titanium Dioxide Heterostructures

The authors present a photoluminescence and UV （ultraviolet）-optical absorbance study on single walled carbon nanotubes CNTs （carbon nanotubes） and TiO2 mixtures. The authors observed variation of△ф = 0.6 eV in optical gap for micrometric anatase and 0.1 eV for nanometric rutile or anatase at a concentration of CNTs of about 1.5 weight %. The large difference in △ф is attributed to differences in dimensions of dioxide grains and in morphology of CNTs/Ti02 composites. Photoluminescence emission is drastically reduced and absorption in the UV range is increased at low CNT concentration for both anatase and rutile phases.

A Lagrange dynamic model is established based on small-angle approximation to improve the simulation model for shipborne helicopter landing *** describe fuselage motion effectively,the proposed model considers ship motion,the interaction of the tires with the deck,and tire slippage.A mechanism of sliding motion is built,and a real-time reliability analysis of the algorithm is implemented to validate the proposed *** simulations are also conducted under different operation *** show that the proposed dynamic model can simulate the collision motion of helicopter landing in real *** suggestions for helicopter pilot landing are likewise provided.

Synthesis and Characterization of Aluminum/Carbon Nanotubes Composites： Study of Interfacial Interaction

Abstract： In this work, the authors present a study of growth and characterization of composite based on AI and CNT （carbon nanotubes. The composites were prepared by a chemical mixing method and characterized by SEM analysis, energy dispersed X-ray measurements, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and cathodoluminescence spectroscopy. The analysis showed that the composites are formed by macro-cluster of aluminum oxide on a network of CNT without formation of chemical bonds at interface between particles. The results are compared with those obtained for a sample of CNT with AI traces （〈 0.5%）. They show that only the presence of metal traces changes the nanotubes optical properties, with a luminescence signal centered at about 380 nm. These luminescence signals are caused by the adhesion between CNT and AI micro-clusters that promote the formation of band gap with some local energy levels.

Carbon Nanotubes/Metal Nanoparticle Based Nanocomposites: Improvements in Visible Photoluminescence Emission and Hydrophobicity

In this work, we present a study of growth and characterization of nanocomposites, based on multiwalled carbon nanotubes and metal nanoparticles (Al, Ag, Au, Co, Cu, Fe, Ni and Ti). We observe a very different behavior between noble and transitions metals. All the nanocomposites are characterized by a network of carbon nanotubes with randomly insertion of spherical metal particles with dimensions of about 100 nm (clearly visible in SEM images). In particular, in transition metal nanocomposites, each tube on sheet surface is covered by particles of about 40 - 50 nm and for all metals the XPS measurements indicate the absence of chemical bonds and the simply physisorption of nanoparticle on carbon nanotube buckypaper. Furthermore, the nanocomposites show very different properties respect to pure carbon nanotubes: they are hydrophobic, their roughness is about 50% smaller than carbon nanotube and they exhibit a strong visible photoluminescence, which is absent in pure nanotube.

Laser Ablation of Silver Artifacts in Vacuum： Solution to Silver Tarnishing Problem

This work is a study of effect of laser ablation in different medium on silver artifacts. The effectiveness of laser ablation cleanness methods was evaluated in air, water and vacuum condition. The samples were subjected to HC1 treatment for several hours to simulate the formation of chloride patina on marine archeological artifacts. Laser ablation removes the patina in all medium, reducing its thickness from 300 to few microns in air and water and eliminating completely the chlorine in vacuum conditions. However, it was observed the formation, during cleanness of a white patina in air and water and an increasing of oxygen amount on surface. This indicate that in ambient reach in oxygen laser ablation favorite the oxygen absorbance on surface and the formation of a thin layer of AgO which dulls the surface. This hypothesis is confirmed by the results of laser ablation in vacuum conditions where surface tarnishing was not observed. So, laser ablation in vacuum condition was indicated as the most effective procedure to clean silver artifacts.
