Assessment of Air Pollution,by the Urban Traffic,in university Campus of bucharest

This study aims to measure traffic-related air pollution of vehicles with internal combustion, the main source of emissions of BTEX, organic compounds and NOx, NO2, NO, O3, CO, SO2, PM10 and PM2.5, inorganic compounds, in three sites of the university campus, surrounded by residential areas. According to the university data, around 8000 students are being exposed daily to the measured level of pollution, in all 3 studied places of campus. A mobile laboratory was used, which continuously measures above mentioned pollutants and mete-orological parameters. The diurnal variation of BTEX, in a sunny and rainy day showed two peaks of BTEX concentration in the morning and evening. In the rainy days, the non-polar (hydrophobic) compounds as BTEX are mechanically trained by rain into the ground, where either they enter into the groundwater, or volatilized and re-enter in the air. Particulate matter such as PM10 and PM2.5 is, in a large part, carried by the rain into the soil. The polar compounds (hydrophilic, NOx, SO2) dissolves in the rainwater and are absorbed in the soil (increasing soil acidity) and evaporated towards the clouds (leading to acid rain). In our study, BTEX compounds removed by the rain varied between 62% - 75%, NOx and SO2, 80% and 77% respectively. Particulate matters were washed out up to 68% for PM10, and 42% for PM2.5. In the sunny days the air pollution with measured concentrations of O3 (121.66 ± 7.02, 123.56 ± 4.89 μg/m3) remained for 7 hours close to the limit value (120 μg/m3). The maximum of solar radiation, with corresponding low concentrations in NOx and xylene, corresponds to photochemical reactions in the atmosphere, generating photochemical smog. In a sunny day and high traffic, we found the maximum value 5.4 μg/m3 for benzene, for 30 min., a known human carcinogen, exceeding the annual limit value de 5 μg/m3. Magnesium and its alloys are one of the most used materials for bone implants and tissue *** are characterized by numerous advantages such as biodegradability,high biocompatibility and mechanical properties with values close to the human ***,the implant surface must be adequately tuned,or Mg-based alloys must be alloyed with other chemical elements due to their increased corrosion effect in physiological *** article reviews the clinical challenges related to bone repair and regeneration,classifying bone defects and presenting some of the most used and modern therapies for bone injuries,such as Ilizarov or Masquelet techniques or stem cell *** implant interface challenges are related to new bone formation and fracture healing,implant degradation and hydrogen release.A detailed analysis of mechanical properties during implant degradation is extensively described based on different literature studies that included in vitro and in vivo tests correlated with material properties’***-based trauma implants such as plates and screws,intramedullary nails,Herbert screws,spine cages,rings for joint treatment and regenerative scaffolds are presented,taking into consideration their manufacturing technology,the implant geometrical dimensions and shape,the type of in vivo or in vitro studies and fracture *** technologies that modify or adapt the Mg-based implant interfaces are described by presenting the main surface microstructural modifications,physical deposition and chemical conversion *** last part of the article provides some recommendations from a translational perspective,identifies the challenges associated with Mg-based implants and presents some future *** review outlines the available literature on trauma and regenerative bone implants and describes the main techniques used to control the alloy corrosion rate and the cellular environment of the implant.

BACKGROUND Primary appendiceal tumors are histologically diverse and have an insidious onset and few specific clinical *** the majority of cases,these tumors are discovered after appendectomy during pathological exam of the resected *** may include appendectomy(simple or radical)and right hemicolectomy depending on factors such as histological type,tumor size and lymph node/organ *** aim of this case study is to describe a rare case of a giant appendicular mucocele and raise awareness of this condition and its management options and follow-up *** SUMMARY We present the case of a 43-year-old patient who presented to our emergency department with mild right lower quadrant *** the initial check-up and imaging exams,he underwent surgery,where a giant 20 cm×13 cm appendicular tumor was found and *** mucocele was suspected due to the macroscopic appearance and was later confirmed by the pathological *** patient’s postoperative evolution was uneventful,and after discharge,he was included in our follow-up *** In conclusion,mucinous appendiceal neoplasms embody a rare pathology;they are asymptomatic or have few,unspecific clinical signs and in many cases are discovered after appendectomy.

Superior mesenteric artery first approach versus standard pancreaticoduodenectomy： a systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND： The superior mesenteric artery（SMA） first approach was proposed recently as a new modification of the standard pancreaticoduodenectomy. Increasing evidence showed that a periadventiceal dissection of the SMA with early transection of the inflow during pancreaticoduodenectomy associates better early perioperative results, and setup the scene for long-term oncological benefits. The objectives of the current study are to compare the operative results and long-term oncological outcomes of SMA first approach pancreaticoduodenectomy（SMA-PD） with standard pancreaticoduodenectomy（S-PD）.DATA SOURCES： Electronic search of the PubM ed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science and Cochrane Library was performed until July 2015. We considered randomized controlled trials（RCTs） and non-randomized comparative studies（NRCSs） comparing SMA-PD with S-PD to be eligible if they included patients with periampullary ***： A total of one RCT and thirteen NRCSs met the inclusion criteria, involving 640 patients with SMA-PD and 514 patients with S-PD. The SMA-PD was associated with less intraoperative bleeding, less blood transfusions and higher rate of associated venous resections. The pancreatic fistula and delayed gastric emptying had a significantly lower rate in the SMA-PD group. There were no differences between the two approaches regarding overall complications, major complication rates and in-hospital mortality. There was no difference regarding R0 resection rate, and one-, two-or three-year over-all survival. The SMA-PD was associated with a lower local, hepatic and extrahepatic metastatic ***： The SMA-PD is associated with better perioperative outcomes, such as blood loss, transfusion requirements, pancreatic fistula, and delayed gastric emptying. Although the one-, two-or three-year overall survival rate is not superior, the SMA-PD has a lower local and metastatic recurrence rate.

In this article, we consider the existence of positive radial solutions for Hessian equations and systems with weights and we give a necessary condition as well as a sufficient condition for a positive radial solution to be large. The method of proving theorems is essentially based on a successive approximation technique. Enhance Stability and in vitro Cell Response to a Bioinspired Coating on Zr Alloy with Increasing Chitosan Content

The aim of the present paper is to characterize bioinspired chitosan （CS）＋ hydroxyapatite （HA） coatings with various components ratio on a zirconium alloy with titanium. The coatings were characterized by FT-IR, SEM, hydrophilic/hydrophobic balance, adherence, roughness, electrochemical stability and in vitro cell response. Electrochemical tests, including potentio- dynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, were performed in normal saline physiological solution. Cell viability of MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts, lactate dehydrogenase, nitric oxide, and Reactive Oxygen Species （ROS） levels, as well as actin cytoskeleton morphology, were evaluated as biological in vitro tests. The results on in vitro cell response indicated good cell membrane integrity and viability for all samples, but an increased cell number, a decreased ROS level and a better cytoskeleton organization were noticed for the sample with a higher CS content. The coating with highest CS concen- tration indicated the best performance based on the experimental data. The highest hydrophilic character, highest resistance to corrosion and best biocompatibility as well recommend this coating for bioapplications in tissue engineering.
