The second(O2)observational campaign of gravitational waves(GWs)organized by the LIGO/Virgo Collaborations has led to several breakthroughs such as the detection of GW signals from merger systems involving black holes or neutrons *** O2,14 GW alerts were sent to the astronomical community with sky regions mostly covering over hundreds of square *** them,six were finally confirmed as real astrophysical *** 2013,a new set of ground-based robotic telescopes called Ground-based Wide Angle Camera system(GWAC)project and its pathfinder mini-GWAC has been developed to contribute to the various challenges of multi-messenger and time domain *** GWAC system is built up in the framework of the ground-segment system of the SVOM mission that will be devoted to the study of the multi-wavelength transient sky in the next *** O2,only the mini-GWAC telescope network was fully *** to the wide field of view and fast automatic follow-up capabilities of the mini-GWAC telescopes,they were adept to efficiently cover the sky localization areas of GW event *** this paper,we present the mini-GWAC pipeline we have set up to respond to GW alerts and we report our optical follow-up observations of eight GW alerts detected during the O2 *** observations provided the largest coverage of the GW localization areas with a short latency made by any optical *** found tens of optical transient candidates in our images,but none of those could be securely associated with any confirmed black hole-black hole merger *** on this first experience and the near future technical improvements of our network system,we will be more competitive in detecting the optical counterparts from some GW events that will be identified during the upcoming O3 run,especially those emerging from binary neutron star mergers.

Catalytic conversion of biomass-based platform chemicals is one of the significant approaches to utilize renewable biomass resources.2,5-Furandicarboxylic acid(FDCA),obtained by an electrocatalytic oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF),has attracted extensive attention due to the potential of replacing terephthalic acid to synthesize high-performance polymeric materials for *** the present work,the pHdependent reaction pathways and factors influencing the degree of functional group oxidation are first *** the reaction mechanism of HMF oxidation is further elucidated using the representative *** addition,the emerging catalyst design strategies(defects,interface engineering)used in HMF oxidation are generalized,and structure-activity relationships between the abovementioned strategies and catalysts performance are ***,cathode pairing reactions,such as hydrogen evolution reaction,CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR),oxygen reduction reaction,and thermodynamically favorable organic reactions to lower the cell voltage of the electrolysis system,are ***,the challenges and prospects of the electrochemical oxidation of HMF for FDCA are presented,focusing on deeply investigated reaction mechanism,coupling reaction,reactor design,and downstream product separation/purification.

Naphthalene oxidation by different nonthermal electrical discharges at atmospheric pressure

Gaseous naphthalene has been removed by air plasma generated by pulsed corona discharges at 100°C(LSPM)and dielectric barrier discharges(DBD)up to 250℃(LPGP)in different reactors *** has been chosen as one of unbumed hydrocarbon present in exhaust gas engine during the cold start of *** comparison between the different discharge geometries has been possible using the specific input energy(SIE)as relevant parameter for pollutant removal process control considering the differences in the electrical characteristics and the differences of gas *** best naphthalene degradation is obtained in the wire-to cylinder(WTC)corona discharge and the stem-to-cylinder DBD with an energy costβrespectively of 10 and 20 J L^-*** main by-products issues of the naphthalene oxidation are CO2 and CO reaching 45%in Multi-Pin-to-Plan corona *** detected polyaromatic hydrocarbons in the gas phase(few ppm)and in the solid phase deposited in the *** introduction of water in the discharges promotes the naphthalene degradation by OH-atom,which has better oxidising power than O-atom in dry air.

On the behaviour characterization of metallic cellular materials under impact loading

This paper reviews the common mechanical features of the metallic cellular material under impact loading as well as the characterization methods of such behaviours. The main focus is on the innovations of various testing methods at impact loading *** aspects were discussed in details.（1） The use of soft nylon Hopkinson/Kolsky bar for an enhanced measuring accuracy in order to assess if there is a strength enhancement or not for this class of cellular materials under moderate impact loading;（2） The use of digital image correlations to determine the strain fields during the tests to confirm the existence of a pseudo-shock wave propagation inside the cellular material under high speed impact：（3） The use of new combined shear compression device to determine the loading envelop of cellular materials under impact multiaxial loadings.

Stability-Controllable Second-Order DifferenceScheme for Convection Term

A new finite difference scheme-SCSD scheme has been proposed based on CD (Central Difference)scheme and sud (Secondr-order Upwind Difference) scheme. Its basic feature is controIlable convectivesfability and always second-order accuracy (Stability-Controllable Second-order Difference ). It hasbeen proven that this scheme is convective-stable if the grid Peclet number .The advanage of this new scheme has been discussed based on the modified wavenumber analysis byusing Fourier transform. This scheme has been applied to the 2-D incompressible convective-diffusiveequation and 2-D compressible Euler equation, and corresponding finite difference equations have beenderived. Numerical examples of 1-D Burgers equation and 2-D transport equation have been presentedto show its good accuracy and controllable convective stability

Obligate brood parasitism,which refers to parasitic birds,fish,and insects that lay eggs in host nests,imposes strong selective pressure on hosts because the reproductive output of hosts is reduced considerably or eliminated completely while the foster parents provide extra-parental care to unrelated nestlings(Soler 2016).After parasites succeed in laying eggs,egg rejection by hosts plays an important role in avoiding parasitism by recognition and rejection of parasite eggs from host nests(Yang et al.2014).

VOCs Destruction by Plasma Catalyst Coupling Using AL-KO PURE Air Purifier on Industrial Scale

We have investigated in this study the destruction of acetone and toluene with AL-KO PURE air purifier (AL-KO PURE) on industrial scale. In the case of acetone, 100% pollutant abatement is achieved with AL-KO PURE over more than 80 hours (the test duration time) at the high level concentration of 0.5 ppm (1187 μg/m3, about 7 times higher than the average living room level). This corresponds to 0.2 μmol/s with a flow rate of 38.42 m3/h. The regeneration of a saturated catalytic filter was also tested. When the catalytic filter of AL-KO PURE is fully saturated with acetone, a 100% acetone destruction efficiency can be achieved at 0.46 ppm concentration with 25% fan speed. Moreover the second pollutant, toluene, has been also studied. 100% toluene abatement also is achieved with AL-KO PURE over more than 80 hours (the test duration time) at the high level concentration of 0.2 ppm (811 μg/m3, 0.087 μmol/s with a flow rate of 38.42 m3/h). Finally, the availability for the simultaneous removal of both pollutants, acetone and toluene, has been also studied.
