1 Physicochemical a spects of multilayered polyelectrolyte f ilms Multilayered polyelectrolyte films are obtained by al-ternated depositions on a solid surface of polyanions and polycations[1].The driving force for the build-up results from the charge excess which appears on the top of the film after each new polyelectrolyte *** film top becomes thus positively(respectively negatively)charged when the film is ending by a polycation(respec-tively polyanion).Various polyelectrolyte systems have been used to realize such architectures,in particular syn-thetic polyelectrolytes(poly-styrene sulfonate:PSS,poly-allylylamine:PAH,etc.);polypeptides(poly-glutamic acid:PGA,poly-lysine:PLL,etc.),polysaccharides[-](hyaluronane:HA,chitosan:Chi,etc.).

Nanomechanical heterogeneity is expected to have an effect on elasticity, injury and bone remodelling. In normal bone, we have two types of cells (osteoclasts and osteoblasts) working together to maintain existing bone. Bone cancers can produce factors that make the osteoclasts work harder. This means that more bone is destroyed than rebuilt, and leads to weakening of the affected bone. We report here the first demonstration of the nanoscale stiffness distribution in bone metastases before and after treatment of animals with the bisphosphonate Risedronate, a drug which is currently used for the treatment of bone metastases in patients with advanced cancers. The strategy used here is applicable to a wide class of biological tissues and may serve as a new reflection for biologically inspired scaffolds technologies.

Background: The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical and economic impact of robotic distal pancreatectomy, laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy, and open distal pancreatectomy. Methods: All consecutive patients who underwent distal pancreatic resection for benign and malignant diseases between January 2012 and december 2015 were prospectively included. Cost analysis was performed;all charges from patient admission to discharge were considered. Results: There were 21 robotic (RDP), 25 laparoscopic (LDP), and 43 open (ODP) procedures. Operative time was longer in the RDP group (RDP =345 minutes, LDP =306 min, ODP =251 min, P=0.01). Blood loss was higher in the ODP group (RDP =192 mL, LDP =356 mL, ODP =573 mL, P=0.0002). Spleen preservation was more frequent in the RDP group (RDP =66.6%, LDP =61.9%, ODP =9.3%, P=0.001). The rate of patients with Clavien-Dindo > grade III was higher in the ODP group (RDP =0%, LDP =12%, ODP =23%, P=0.01), especially for non-surgical complications, which were more frequent in the ODP group (RDP =9.5%, LDP =24%, ODP =41.8%, P=0.02). Length of hospital stay was increased in the ODP group (ODP =19 days, LDP =13 days, RDP =11 days, P=0.007). The total cost of the procedure, including the surgical procedure and postoperative course was higher in the ODP group (ODP =30,929 Euros, LDP=22,150 Euros, RDP =21,219 Euros, P=0.02). Conclusions: Cost-effective results of RDP seem to be similar to LDP with some better short-term outcomes.

This paper presents a new three-phase hybrid active power filter configuration that interconnects a passive high-pass filter in parallel with an active power filter and a photovoltaic system. The proposed configuration can improves the filtering performance of the conventional active power filter, as well as simultaneously supply the power from the photovoltaic arrays to the load and utility. This paper will describe the proposed hybrid active power filter control using sliding mode with photovoltaic system. The proposed technique effectively filters harmonics under 1 kHz but also higher frequency to achieve wideband harmonics compensation. The THD of source current is reduced from 30.09% to 1.95%. The result indicates that the sliding mode controller can track the reference signals and have good dynamic characteristics.

Graphene Thin Layers Formation on Monocrystalline Ni(111)/MgO(111) by Carbon Implantation and Annealing

The objectives of this study are the elaboration of graphene by 1) carbon implantation at moderate temperature (873 K) into a monodomain epitaxially-grown Ni(111) film deposited on a reusable MgO(111) substrate, followed by 2) carbon surface precipitation by thermal treatment. The growth of the nickel film by molecular beam epitaxy has been monitored by Reflection High Energy Electron Diffraction. The film morphology has been studied by Electron Back-Scattered Diffraction, Atomic Force Microscopy and Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy in the tunneling mode. In the optimized conditions corresponding to a germination step at 633 K followed by a step growth at 873 K and a post-annealing treatment at 1023 K monocrystalline Ni(111) //MgO(111) films are prepared, exhibiting monodomain swith high structural and orientation qualities. 13C implantation into these nickel films is subsequently achieved at 873 K with energy within 20 - 50 keV and a carbon dose equivalent to 4 monolayers of graphene (1.4 × 1016 at/cm2). Carbon diffuses mainly towards the surface, forming thin layers graphene. Compared to a Ni polycrystalline film the graphene fragments are larger and better facetted. The carbon amounts inside the nickel films at different steps, as well as the carbon amount at the surface, have been measured by Nuclear Reaction Analysis and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, respectively. The results show that, in addition to implanted 13C, some amounts of 12C is incorporated at different steps of the process and is involved in the formation of the graphene monolayers, as shown by 13C/12C Raman mappings. We finally discuss different mechanisms for carbon diffusion and surface segregation, considering the size and thickness distributions of the thin-layers graphene.

Terpenes are one of the largest and most diversified families of natural compounds. Although they have found numerous industrial applications, the molecular basis of their synthesis in plants has, until now, not been fully understood. Plant genomes have been shown to contain dozens of terpene synthase (TPS) genes, however knowledge of their amino-acidic protein sequence in not sufficient to predict which terpene(s) will be produced by a particular enzyme. In order to investigate the structural basis of a TPS specificity, we performed site directed mutations in the geraniol synthase from Ocimum basilicum. The results obtained suggest that a specific region on the catalytic site plays an important role in GPP transformation, either by stabilizing the GPP substrate on the catalytic site, or by enabling its transformation into a monoterpenol via an intermediate carbocation.

Photoswitchable organic materials have shown significant advancement for photonic applications,however,the polynuclear metal clusters conjugated with photoswitching properties are still ***,a novel octanuclear Zn(Ⅱ) nanocage{[Zn_(8)-(Me_(4)Si_(4)O_(8))_(2)(azopz)_(8)]·4CH_(2)Cl_(2)·MeOH·MeCN}(SD/Zn8)(Hazopz=3,5-dimethyl-4-(phenyldiazenyl)-1H-pyrazole),based on multidentate silsesquioxane and pyrazole modified by photoisomerizable azo group has been designed and synthesized to realize the reversible photoswitching behavior.X-ray crystallographic study reveals that the unique metal core consists of two annular Me_(4)Si_(4)O_(8)^(4-)sandwiching a ring of eight Zn atoms where the pyrazole end of azopz-bridges them *** azopz-ligands diverge above and below the plane defined by eight Zn ***,SD/Zn8 shows quick trans-to-cis transformation upon 365 nm light irradiation,which can be easily changed back by 450 nm light,but slow cis-to-trans reversibility at room temperature as confirmed by UV-V is and 1H NMR *** process,which presumably regulates the spaces,acts like a pump and is completely *** such,it can be considered as a molecular pump energized by ***,the molecule is an energy reservoir where it absorbs the light energy and releases it slowly with time.
