Mitochondrial damage is a critical contributor to cardiac ischemia/reperfusion(I/R)*** quality control(MQC)mechanisms,a series of adaptive responses that preserve mitochondrial structure and function,ensure cardiomyocyte survival and cardiac function after I/R *** includes mitochondrial fission,mitochondrial fusion,mitophagy and mitochondria-dependent cell *** interplay among these responses is linked to pathological changes such as redox imbalance,calcium overload,energy metabolism disorder,signal transduction arrest,the mitochondrial unfolded protein response and endoplasmic reticulum *** mitochondrial fission is an early marker of mitochondrial damage and cardiomyocyte *** mitochondrial fusion has been observed in stressed cardiomyocytes and correlates with mitochondrial dysfunction and cardiac *** allows autophagosomes to selectively degrade poorly structured mitochondria,thus maintaining mitochondrial network ***,abnormal mitophagy is maladaptive and has been linked to cell *** mitochondria serve as the fuel source of the heart by continuously producing adenosine triphosphate,they also stimulate cardiomyocyte death by inducing apoptosis or necroptosis in the reperfused ***,defects in MQC may determine the fate of *** this review,we summarize the regulatory mechanisms and pathological effects of MQC in myocardial I/R injury,highlighting potential targets for the clinical management of reperfusion.

Convergence Zone Width Analysis Based on Ray Cluster Theory and Its Application in the Array Depth Optimization of Active Sensors

The active sensor often uses the convergence zone mode to detect a distant target in the deep ***,convergence zones are regions with limited widths that only appear at some discrete ***,widening the width by adjusting the transmitting array depth facilitates target observation and *** search is an effective method for determining the optimal depth,but the heavy computation burden resulting from the calculation of the transmission losses at all source depths impedes its *** solve the problem,a fast method based on ray cluster theory is *** to the coherent sound field structure in the deep ocean,several ray clusters with different departure angles radiate from the source,where ray clusters with small departure angles reverse in the water and form a convergence *** the source is set to a depth that only the first ray cluster inverts in water,the maximum width of the convergence zone is *** on this,an optimal transmitting array depth selection method utilizing the reversion condition of the first ray cluster is *** results show that the active sensor can achieve a large convergence zone width with real-time performance using the proposed method.

This paper describes a technique to estimate surface-based duct parameters by using a simple ray tracing/correlation method. The approach is novel in that it incorporates the Spearman rank-order correlation scheme between the observed surface clutter and the surface ray density for a given propagation path. The simulation results and the real data results both demonstrate the ability of this method to estimate surface-based duct parameters. Compared with the results obtained by a modified genetic algorithm combined with the parabolic wave equation, the results retrieved from the ray tracing/correlation scheme show a minor reduction in accuracy but a great improvement on computation time. Therefore the ray tracing/correlation method might be used as a precursor to more sophisticated and slower techniques, such as genetic algorithm and particle filters, by narrowing the parameter search space and providing a comprehensive and more efficient estimation algorithm.

The sea level pressure field can be computed from sea surface winds retrieved from satellite microwave scatterometer measurements, based on variational assimilation in combination with a regularization method given in part I of this paper. First, the validity of the new method is proved with a simulation experiment. Then, a new processing procedure for the sea level pressure retrieval is built by combining the geostrophic wind, which is computed from the scatterometer 10-meter wind using the University of Washington planetary boundary layer model using this method. Finally, the feasibility of the method is proved using an actual case study.

A new method of constructing a sea level pressure field from satellite microwave scatterometer measurements is presented. It is based on variational assimilation in combination with a regularization method using geostrophic vorticity to construct a sea level pressure field from scatterometer data that are given in this paper, which offers a new idea for the application of scatterometer measurements. Firstly, the geostrophic vorticity from the scatterometer data is computed to construct the observation field, and the vorticity field in an area and the sea level pressure on the borders are assimilated. Secondly, the gradient of sea level pressure （semi-norm） is used as the stable functional to educe the adjoint system, the adjoint boundary condition and the gradient of the cost functional in which a weight parameter is introduced for the harmony of the system and the Tikhonov regularization techniques in inverse problem are used to overcome the ill-posedness of the assimilation. Finally, the iteration method of the sea level pressure field is developed.

Quantum illumination, that is, quantum target detection, is to detect the potential target with two-mode quan- tum entangled state. For a given transmitted energy, the quantum illumination can achieve a target-detection probability of error much lower than the illumination scheme without entanglement. We investigate the useful- ness of noiseless linear amplification （NLA） for quantum illumination. Our result shows that NLA can help to substantially reduce the number of quantum entangled states collected for joint measurement of multi-copy quan- tum state. Our analysis on the NLA-assisted scheme could help to develop more efficient schemes for quantum illumination.

A Case Study of the Error Growth and Predictability of a Meiyu Frontal Heavy Precipitation Event

The Advanced Regional Eta-coordinate Model （AREM） is used to explore the predictability of a heavy rainfall event along the Meiyu front in China during 3-4 July 2003. Based on the sensitivity of precipitation prediction to initial data sources and initial uncertainties in different variables, the evolution of error growth and the associated mechanism are described and discussed in detail in this paper. The results indicate that the smaller-amplitude initial error presents a faster growth rate and its growth is characterized by a transition from localized growth to widespread expansion error. Such modality of the error growth is closely related to the evolvement of the precipitation episode, and consequently remarkable forecast divergence is found near the rainband, indicating that the rainfall area is a sensitive region for error growth. The initial error in the rainband contributes significantly to the forecast divergence, and its amplification and propagation are largely determined by the initial moisture distribution. The moisture condition also affects the error growth on smaller scales and the subsequent upscale error cascade. In addition, the error growth defined by an energy norm reveals that large error energy collocates well with the strong latent heating, implying that the occurrence of precipitation and error growth share the same energy source-the latent heat. This may impose an intrinsic predictability limit on the prediction of heavy precipitation.

Employing magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging, three-dimensional white-matter imaging and conventional magnetic resonance imaging can demonstrate the tumor parenchyma, peritumoral edema and compression on surrounding brain tissue. A color-coded tensor map and three-dimensional tracer diagram were applied to clearly display the optic-radiation location, course and damage. Results showed that the altered anisotropy values of meningioma patients corresponded with optic-radiation shape, size and position on both sides. Experimental findings indicate that the magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging technique is a means of tracing and clearly visualizing the optic radiation.

Synergistic effects of elevated homocysteine level and abnormal blood lipids on the onset of stroke

Hyperhomocysteinemia and abnormal blood lipids are independent risk factors for stroke. However, whether both factors exert a synergistic effect in the onset of stroke remains unclear. The present study is a retrospective analysJs of 2 089 cases of stroke and 2 089 control cases of simple in- tervertebral disk protrusion using a paired multivariate logistic regression method. Adjusting for known confounding variables including the patients＇ age, gender, smoking status, alcohol con- sumption status, patient and family medical history, and clinical biochemical indices, elevated ho- mocysteine level was related to the onset of stroke. Patients with elevated homocysteJne levels and abnormal blood lipids showed a 40.9 % increase in the risk for stroke compared to patients with normal homocysteine levels and blood lipids （odds ratio 1.409; 95% confidence interval 1.127-1.761）. These results indicate that elevated homocysteine and abnormal blood lipids exert synergistic effects in the onset of stroke. Patients with elevated homocysteine levels and abnormal blood lipids are predisposed to stroke.
