Effects of Institut Georges Lopez-1 and Celsior preservation solutions on liver graft injury

AIM: To compare Institut Georges Lopez(IGL-1) and Celsior preservation solutions for hepatic endothelium relaxation and liver cold ischemia reperfusion injury(IRI).MetHODS: Two experimental models were *** the first one, acetylcholine-induced endotheliumdependent relaxation(EDR) was measured in isolated ring preparations of rat hepatic arteries preserved or not in IGL-1 or Celsior solutions(24 h at 4 ℃).To determine nitric oxide(NO) and cyclooxygenase EDR, hepatic arteries were incubated with L-NG-nitroarginine methyl ester(L-NAME), an inhibitor of endothelium nitric oxide synthase(e NOS), or with L-NAME plus indomethacin, an inhibitor of *** the second experiment, rat livers were cold-stored in IGL-1 or Celsior solutions for 24 h at 4 ℃ and then perfused "ex vivo " for 2 h at 37 ℃.Liver injury was assessed by transaminase measurements, liver function by bile production and bromosulfophthalein clearance, oxidative stress by malondialdehyde levels and catalase activity and alterations in cell signaling pathways by pA kt, pA MPK, eN OS and MAPKs proteins ***: After cold storage for 24 h with either Celsior or IGL-1, EDR was only slightly *** isolated arteries, EDR was exclusively mediated by ***, cold-stored arteries showed NOand COX-dependent *** decrease in NO-dependent relaxation after cold storage was significantly more marked with *** second study indicated that IGL-1 solution obtained better liver preservation and protection against IRI than *** injury was reduced, function was improved and there was less oxidative ***-1 solution activated Akt and AMPK, which was concomitant with increased eN OS expression and nitrite/nitrate ***, MAPKs kinases were regulated in livers preserved with IGL-1 solution since reductions in p-p38, p-ERK and p-JNK protein levels were ***: IGL-1 solution preserved NO-dependent relaxation better than Celsior storage solutio

One Step Regioselective Acylation of Polyphenolic Wood Extractive and Its Application for Wood Treatment

This study evaluated the methods of grafting commercial catechin with fatty acids,namely capric acid(C10),lauric acid(C12),and myristic acid(C14)through *** of beech wood(Fagus sylvatica L.)were impregnated with catechin and modified catechin-fatty acids,separately,at a 5%concentration diluted in ethanol using vacuum pressure treatment and subjected to *** weight percentage gain before leaching(WPG),after leaching(WPGAL),and weight loss due to leaching(PL)were *** leached and unleached samples were tested against white-rot fungi(Trametes versicolor)in Petri-dishes for twelve *** show that samples treated with modified catechin-fatty acids provide improved resistance towards ***-C14 was found to be more promising,possibly due to its chain *** decay weight loss for samples treated with modified catechin-fatty acids does not differ significantly between the samples that leached and *** the antifungal properties of catechin,the treatment with catechin alone was insufficient to protect wood samples from ***,it is recommended to increase the concentration level of modified catechin to obtain a significant effect on the decay resistance.

Numerical investigation of velocity ratio effect in combined wall and offset jet flows

In the present work, we propose to numerically study a combined turbulent wall and offset jet flow(this combination will be denoted WOJ). Several turbulence models were tested in this study: the standard k-w, SST k-w, standard k-ε, RNG, and realizable k-ε model. A parametric study was performed to determine the effect of offset ratio H and the velocity ratio r on the longitudinal and transverse positions of the merge point(MP), the combined point(CP), the upper vortex center(UVC) and the lower vortex center(LVC). Correlations that predict the position of these characteristic points of the WOJ flow as a function of H and r have been provided. Results show that any increase in the velocity ratio causes a displacement of the MP, CP, UVC and LVC further upstream along the longitudinal direction. Concerning the transverse positions, the increase of velocity ratio results in a deviation of the merge point(MP) and the lower vortex center(LVC) toward the strong jet(LWJ) whereas the transverse position of combined point(CP) and the upper vortex center(UVC) is almost independent of the velocity ratio.

Bolzano's Theorems for Holomorphic Mappings(To Ham Brezis,with friendship and admiration)

The existence of a zero for a holomorphic functions on a ball or on a rectangle under some sign conditions on the boundary generalizing Bolzano's ones for real functions on an interval is deduced in a very simple way from Cauchy's theorem for holomorphic functions. A more complicated proof, using Cauchy's argument principle, provides uniqueness of the zero, when the sign conditions on the boundary are strict. Applications are given to corresponding Brouwer fixed point theorems for holomorphic functions. Extensions to holomorphic mappings from C^n to C^n are obtained using Brouwer degree.

Epistasis and Maternal Effect in Resistance to Puccinia coronata ***. avenae Eriks in Oats(Avena sp.)

The objective of this paper was to investigate the mode of heredity for resistance in oats （Avena sp.） to crown rust caused by Puccinia coronata Cda. f. sp. avenae Eriks, Eight generations of 2 crosses were used to estimate genetic effects and narrow-sense heritability （NSH）. Separate generation means analysis （GMA） indicated a complex gene action controlling this trait with additive, dominance, epistatic and maternal effects （ME）. The genetic model which assumed no epistasis and no ME did not accurately describe the resistance to P. coronata. In both crosses, the digenic epistatic model with ME was sufficient to explain variation in generation means for isolate CRec58 and isolate CRec46. Additive dominance and epistatic components were negative in most cases, suggesting that gene effects contributed more to the resistance than to the susceptibility. The estimated values of NSH were 15-99% depending upon the cross and isolates. The results indicated that appropriate choice of maternal parent and recurrent selection would increase resistance to crown rust in oats.
