Interplay between oral health and lifestyle factors for cancer risk in rural and urban China:a population-based cohort study

Background:Although poor oral health and several lifestyle factors have been found to be associated with cancer risk,their joint relationship has rarely been ***:We prospectively examined the associations of oral health and healthy lifestyle factors with cancer risk among 0.5 million rural and urban residents from the China Kadoorie Biobank(2004-2015).Oral health status was assessed from self-reported baseline questionnaires.A healthy lifestyle index comprising non-smoking,non-drinking,ideal body shape,physical activity and healthy diet was calculated for each participant,and categorized into favorable,intermediate and unfavorable lifestyle *** calculated hazard ratios(HRs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs)relating oral health and healthy lifestyle index to cancer risk using Cox proportional hazards *** estimated the population attributable risk percent(PAR%)and 95%CIs using multivariate ***:During a median follow-up of 9 years,23,805 new cancer cases were documented,with 52%from rural areas and 48%from urban *** with those with good oral health and favorable lifestyle,participants with poor oral health and unfavorable lifestyle had a higher risk of developing cancer in both rural(adjusted HR,1.55[95%CI,1.39-1.74];P for trendcancer risk was found in rural residents(P for interaction=0.004)rather than in urban residents(P for interaction=0.973).Assuming poor oral health as an additional risk factor,the PAR%of total cancer increased by 3.0%and 1.1%for participants with intermediate lifestyle and unfavorable lifestyle,***:These findings suggest a joint effect of oral health and common lifestyle factors on cancer *** of healthy lifestyle by integration of good oral health would be beneficial to consider in cancer prevention stra

Effect of CuO on the Burnability and Mineral Formation of High C_3S Cement Clinker

The effect of CuO on the clinkering process and mineral structure, components and morphology of high C3S cement clinker was studied. One reference mixture was prepared according to the potential mineral phase components C3S=75%, C3A=7%, C4AF=18% and then was mixed, respectively, with 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, 2.5% and 4% CuO. All samples were heated at a rate of 10°C/min to the design temperatures and then maintained for 40 min. Analyses by the glycerol-ethanol method, XRD and SEM-EDS show that the minimum of free lime （f-CaO） content was related to temperature and CuO amount. The higher the temperature, the lower the amount of CuO corresponding to the f-CaO minimum content. CuO promotes the formation and growth of C3S and C4AF and a new compound is found. In addition, these phenomena are discussed theoretically. In conclusion, CuO alters the burnability and the formation and structure of C3S in a high C3S cement system.

Analogs of microgravity: the function of Schlemm's canal, intraocular pressure and autonomic nervous during the head-down tilt test in healthy subjects

AIM:To evaluate the ocular outcomes and to elucidate possible mechanisms underlying intraocular pressure(IOP)change following the head-down tilt(HDT)***:The study included 21 participants at the Department of Ophthalmology of tongji *** received the test of I-care tonometry,enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography and heart rate variability(HRV)analysis before and after 15 min HDT *** lumen area of Schlemm’s canal(SCAR),IOP,HRV were ***:IOP increased significantly after 20°head down position from 14.0±3.0 to 17.0±3.3 mm Hg(P<0.001).SCAR decreased from 13449.0±5454.9μm^(2) at sitting condition to 9576.6±4130.9μm^(2) post 15 min HDT *** frequency(HF)indices increased significantly from 1462±865 Hz at baseline to 2128±824 *** rate(HR)decreased significantly from 76±11.48 to 70±11.52 bpm after the *** linear regression analysis showed that the difference of HF and SCAR significantly correlated with each other during the HDT(R^(2)=20%,P=0.04).CONCLUSION:These outcomes perform the first evidence of the activation of autonomic nervous system of HDT may cause the collapse of Schlemm’s canal lumen,which in turn leading to the increased IOP.

Identification of plasma proteomic signatures associated with the progression of cardia gastric cancer and precancerous lesions

Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers with a very poor prognosis. Recently, there has been a significant increase in research directed towards identifying potential biomarkers that can be used to diagnose and provide prognostic information for pancreatic cancer. These markers can be used clinically to optimize and personalize therapy for individual patients. In this review, we focused on 3 biomarkers involved in the DNA damage response pathway and the necroptosis pathway: Chromodomainhelicase-DNA binding protein 5, chromodomain-helicaseDNA binding protein 7, and mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein. The aim of this article is to review present literature provided for these biomarkers and current studies in which their effectiveness as prognostic biomarkers are analyzed in order to determine their future use as biomarkers in clinical medicine. Based on the data presented, these biomarkers warrant further investigation,and should be validated in future studies.

Effect of Waste Paper Fiber on Properties of Cementbased Mortar and Relative Mechanism

The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of waste paper fiber on the properties of cement-based mortar and the relative mechanism. The cement-based mortars with various contents and mixing way of waste paper fibers were prepared and the slump flow, setting time and strength developments of all mortars were tested. Besides, Ca（OH）_2 content in hardened pastes at different ages and the microstructures of all mortar at 90 d were observed by scanning electron microscopy. The experimental results showed that in the process of mixing, more superplastizier was consumed to maintain the workability because of the absorption of water and superplastizer on waste paper fiber. With more waste paper fiber being added, longer setting time is available for the pastes with it because of the carbohydrate dissolving and its retarding to the cement hydration. Waste paper fiber is adverse to the early and later strength of cement-based mortar, but it increases the mortar strengths at 7 and 28 d. The strength, Ca（OH）_2 content and microstructure are related to the content and mixing way of waste paper fiber. Waste paper fiber helps produce the Ca（OH）_2 at 7 and 28 d, but this case is reverse at ages of 1 and 3 d. Overall, waste paper fiber leads to the appearance of more pores in the hardened paste. However, it increases the toughness of cement-based mortar.
