Objective This study aimed to examine the role of long non-coding RNA PCED1B antisense RNA 1(PCED1B-As1)in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods A total of 62 pairs of HCC tissues and adjacent non-tumor tissues were obtained from 62 HCC *** interactions of PCED1B-As1 and microRNA-34a(miR-34a)were detected by dual luciferase activity assay and RNA pull-down *** RNA expression levels of PCED1B-As1,miR-34a and CD44 were detected by RT-qPCR,and the protein expression level of CD44 was determined by Western *** cell proliferation was detected by cell proliferation assay,and the cell invasion and migration by transwell invasion *** HCC tumor growth after PCED1B-As1 was downregulated was determined by in vivo animal *** PCED1B-As1 was highly expressed in HCC tissues,which was associated with poor survival of HCC ***,PCED1B-As1 interacted with miR-34a in HCC cells,but they did not regulate the expression of each ***,PCED1B-As1 increased the expression level of CD44,which was targeted by *** cell proliferation and invasion assay revealed that miR-34a inhibited the proliferation and invasion of HCC in vitro,while CD44 exhibited the opposite ***,PCED1B-As1 suppressed the role of ***,the knockdown of PCED1B-As1 repressed the HCC tumor growth in nude mice in *** PCED1B-As1 may play an oncogenic role by regulating the miR-34a/CD44 axis in HCC.

Dear Editor,Unlike previous outbreaks of the mpox(previously known as monkeypox),which were localized in Africa and resulted in small numbers of infections due to limited human-to-human transmission,the current outbreak beginning in May 2022,has spread rapidly primarily through human-to-human transmission in non-endemic countries(Gong et al.,2022).As of 27 sep 2023,115 countries and regions have reported cases of mpox to the World Health Organization(WHO),bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 90,618 including 125 *** the number of new cases has decreased in most WHO regions in the second half of 2022,the curves reveal a long outbreak tail in different subregions of the *** worrying,106 mpox cases were reported in the mainland of China in June 2023.

BACKGROUND:Heatstroke has become a common emergency event in ***(PCT)is used as a biomarker of infection in the emergency department(ED),but its role in rhabdomyolysis(RM)following exertional heatstroke(EHs)remains ***:A retrospective cohort study enrolled patients with EHs from the intensive care unit(ICU).We collected RM biomarkers,inflammation markers,critical disease scores at admission,24 h,48 h,and discharge,and 90-day *** analysis,linear regression and curve fi tting were used to identify the relationship between PCT and ***:A total of 162 patients were recruited and divided into RM(n=56)and non-RM(n=106)*** was positively correlated with myoglobin(Mb),acute hepatic injury,disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC),sequential Organ Failure Assessment(sOFA)score,and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II(APACHE II)score,with correlation coefficients of 0.214,0.237,0.285,0.454,and 0.368,respectively(all Pstingly,the results of curve fi tting revealed a nonlinear relationship between PCT and RM,and a two-piecewise linear regression model showed that PCT was related to RM with an odds ratio of 1.3 and a cut-off ofsis revealed that RM was associated with higher mortality compared to non-RM cases(P=0.0093).CONCLUsION:High serum PCT concentrations are associated with RM after EHs in critically ill *** PCT concentrations should be interpreted cautiously in patients with EHs in the ED.

The correlation between Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)infection and nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)risk has been extensively *** continual monitoring of EBV-IgAs provides a promising approach of NPC screening in its early *** this study,we successfully synthesized a single-atom nanozyme(sANzyme)through the application of iron-porphyrin based metal organic framework(MOF-FeP).The MOF-FeP possesses precisely-defined electronic and geometric structures that accurately mimic highly-evolved catalytic site of natural *** peroxidase-like activity of MOF-FeP enables it to catalyze the chemiluminescence of luminol *** integrating MOF-FeP into a traditional strip,we created a rapid and highly-sensitive evaluation tool for detecting ***,the MOF-FeP strip enables the simultaneous detection of three EBV-IgAs,greatly improving the accuracy of EBV-associated NPC *** sensitivities of the MOF-FeP strip(75.56%–93.30%)surpass those of current enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELIsA)methods(64.44%–82.22%).This test takes only 16 min to perform as opposed to the customary 1–2 h required for standard ***,the MOF-FeP strip is suitable for whole blood samples,thereby significantly simplifying the sample preparation and detection *** conclusion,the MOF-FeP strip combines the simplicity of traditional strip with the high catalytic activity of *** innovative MOF-FeP strip offers a new point-of-care strategy for EBV-IgAs detection,which is expected to markedly facilitate early screening for EBV-associated diseases.

The development of tellurium(Te)-based semiconductor nanomaterials for efficient light-to-heat conversion may offer an effective means of harvesting sunlight to address global energy ***,the nanosized Te(nano-Te)materials reported to date suffer from a series of drawbacks,including limited light absorption and a lack of surface ***,we report the preparation of nano-Te by electrochemical exfoliation using an electrolyzable room-temperature ionic ***,cations,and their corresponding electrolytic products acting as chemical scissors can precisely intercalate and functionalize bulk *** resulting nano-Te has high morphological entropy,rich surface functional groups,and broad light *** also constructed foam hydrogels based on poly(vinyl alcohol)/nano-Te,which achieved an evaporation rate and energy efficiency of 4.11 kg m^(−2)h^(−1)and 128%,respectively,under 1 sun ***,the evaporation rate was maintained in the range 2.5-3.0 kg m^(−2)h^(−1)outdoors under 0.5-1.0 sun,providing highly efficient evaporation under low light conditions.

BACKGROUND Given the current organ shortage crisis,split liver transplantation(sLT)has emerged as a promising alternative for select end-stage liver disease *** To introduce an ex-vivo liver graft splitting approach and evaluate its safety and feasibility in *** A retrospective analysis was conducted on the liver transplantation data from cases performed at our center between April 1,2022,and May 31,*** study included 25 sLT cases and 81 whole liver transplantation(WLT)*** ex-vivo liver splitting was employed for sLT graft procurement in three *** outcomes were determined,including liver function parameters,postoperative complications,and perioperative *** comparisons for categorical variables were performed using theχ²-*** In the study,postoperative complications in the 25 sLT cases included hepatic artery thrombosis(n=1)and pulmonary infections(n=3),with no perioperative *** contrast,among the 81 patients who underwent WLT,complications included perioperative mortality(n=1),postoperative pulmonary infections(n=8),abdominal infection(n=1),hepatic artery thromboses(n=3),portal vein thrombosis(n=1),and intra-abdominal bleeding(n=5).Comparative analysis demonstrated significant differences in alanine aminotransferase(176.0 vs 73.5,P=0.000)and aspartate aminotransferase(AsT)(42.0 vs 29.0,P=0.004)at 1 wk postoperatively,and in total bilirubin(11.8 vs 20.8,P=0.003)and AsT(41.5 vs 26.0,P=0.014)at 2 wk ***,the overall incidence of complications was comparable between the two groups(P>0.05).CONCLUsION Our findings suggest that the total ex-vivo liver graft splitting technique is a safe and feasible approach,especially under the expertise of an experienced transplant *** approach developed by our center can serve as a valuable reference for other transplantation centers.

BACKGROUND Laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery increases the risk of incisional hernia(IH)at the tumor extraction *** To investigate the incidence of IH at extraction sites following laparoscopic colo-rectal cancer surgery and identify the risk factors for IH *** This study retrospectively analyzed the data of 1614 patients who underwent la-paroscopic radical colorectal cancer surgery with tumor extraction through the abdominal wall at our center between January 2017 and December ***-rences in the incidence of postoperative IH at different extraction sites and the risk factors for IH incidence were *** Among the 1614 patients who underwent laparoscopic radical colorectal cancer surgery,303(18.8%),923(57.2%),171(10.6%),and 217(13.4%)tumors were ex-tracted through supraumbilical midline,infraumbilical midline,umbilical,and off-midline *** these,52 patients developed IH in the abdominal wall,with an incidence of 3.2%.The incidence of postoperative IH was significantly higher in the off-midline incision group(8.8%)than in the middle incision groups[the supraumbilical midline(2.6%),infraumbilical midline(2.2%),and umbilical incision(2.9%)groups](χ^(2)=24.985;Psis showed that IH occurrence was associated with age,obesity,sex,chronic cough,incision infection,and combined diabetes,anemia,and hypopro-teinemia(Psimilarly,multivariate analysis showed that off-midline incision,age,sex(female),obesity,incision infection,combined chronic cough,and hypoproteinemia were independent risk factors for IH at the site of laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery(PsION The incidence of postoperative IH differs between extraction sites for laparoscopic colorectal cancer *** infraumbilical midline incision is associated with a lower hernia rate and is thus a suitable tumor extraction site.

Objective:To assess the performance and advantages of HyperArc for radiotherapy of multiple brain metastases with dosimetric parameters with respect to coplanar volumetric modulated arc radiotherapy(c-VMAT),and characterize implicit correlations between tumor features and dosimetric ***:This retrospective study involved 40 patients with multiple brain metastases(4–16 tumors,12.8–240.8 cm3)who received simultaneous radiotherapy at the Department of Radiation Oncology,shenzhen people's hospital from January 2019 to December *** HyperArc and c-VMAT plans were designed by the same and qualified physicist using the Eclipse system with Truebeam.A single isocenter and a 6 MV flattening filter-free(6FFF)photon beam were used for radiotherapy of multiple brain metastases in each *** parameters of tumors and organs at risk(OARs)were compared between HyperArc and c-VMAT ***-lations between tumor features(number and volume)and dosimetric parameters were revealed and ***,monitor units(MUs)of both plan types were recorded to assess rays utilization and delivery ***:Compared to c-VMAT plans,HyperArc plans achieved higher maximum dose(D_(max))(5.23%,t=7.87,Pse(Dmin)(3.94%,t=-2.12,P=0.04)and mean dose(D_(mean))(1.05%,t=-3.29,Pss tumor volumes(PGTVs).The conformity index(CI),homogeneity index(HI),gradient index(GI)and R50%of PGTVs with HyperArc were better than those with c-VMAT,with the improve-ments of 20.78%,1.68%,19.83%and 36.20%,respectively(Psimetric parameters of OARs were significantly improved in HyperArc plans compared to c-VMAT ***,the D_(max)and the D_(mean)to the brainstem decreased by 16.14%and 11.37%,*** D_(max)for eye_L decreased by 16.88%,for eye_R decreased by 11.67%,for optical nerve_L decreased by 12.56%,and for chiasm decreased by 18.12%.Few correlations were observed between the differences of CI/HI/GI

Chronic subdural hematoma(CsDH)is a disease characterized by capsuled blood products that progressively occupy the intracranial space,causing intracranial hypertension and compression in the *** frequently occurs in all demographics,especially in the elderly,but the pathogenesis of CsDH remains *** this review,we discuss the origin,development,and current treatment strategies of *** theﬁrst time,we analyzed the cellular and molecular compositions of hematoma membranes with a focus on neomembrane formation,a complex early-stage interactive event in hematoma *** hypothesize that in patients with CsDH,dural border cells(DBCs)might be induced to synthesize collagen or serum proteins might accumulate at the dura and arachnoid layers at the site of injury,thereby encapsulating the *** formation may trigger inﬂammatory responses after subdural hemorrhage,promotingﬁbroblast-involved extracellular matrix(ECM)deposition and aberrant angiogenesis within the outer ***,ECM deposition and angiogenesis mutually inﬂuence each other and are modulated by inﬂammatory *** illustrating the complex and interactive mechanism of neomembrane formation,we aim to provide a novel insight into CsDH pathogenesis and propose directions for future research as well as advancements in treatment strategies for this disease.
