Perfluoropolyether(PFPE)lubricants are a kind of high-molecular polymer with many excellent ***,the use of PFPEs in the nuclear industry can lead to partial decomposition and carrying radionuclides,resulting in a large amount of radioactive waste PFPE lubricants ***,radioactive waste PFPE lubricants are difficult to be effectively treated due to their high stability,the risk of possible leakage of radionuclides,and hypertoxic fluorine-containing *** this study,without any precedent,a strategy of Mn O_(2)-catalyzed decomposition and Na_(2)CO_(3)-immobilized conversion was proposed for PFPE lubricant decomposition and fluorine immobilization simultaneously based on the Lewis acid-base and oxygen vacancies concept.A high fluorine conversion efficiency of 95.4%was ***,the mechanism of decomposition suggested that Mn O_(2)mainly provided Lewis acid sites and attacked the(basic)fluorine or oxygen atoms in PFPE *** decomposition of PFPE chains was proceed down and volatile fluorine-containing gas was released by partial electron transfer,intramolecular disproportionation reaction,and unzipping ***,gas by-products could be further oxidized and then immobilized into fluoride salts by carbonate solid ***,this study provides a simple,safe,and potentially practical strategy for the harmless conversion of refractory fluorinated organic wastes,especially perfluoropolymers.

Nature has the ingenious capability to design spiky topological features at the macro-and nanoscales,which exhibits fascinating interface adhesive properties by means of multivalent *** a biomimetic approach,such as nanoscale virus particles are highly infectious toward host cells,a range of organic and inorganic spiky particles(virus-like nanostructures)have been precisely engineered for diverse biomedical ***,organic virus-like particles(VLPs)derived from viral capsids(often termed as virosomes)have been extensively studied and reviewed,but concomitant concerns regarding immunogenicity and risks of mutagenesis limit clinical potential of organic *** contrast,inorganic VLPs(viral-mimicking topography)possess fascinating physicochemical characteristics,such as excellent electrical,optical,magnetic,mechanical and catalytic properties,which make them particularly suitable for biomedical ***,there is no comprehensive review related to inorganic VLPs engineered with non-viral shell for biomedical ***,in this review,we present a brief overview on inorganic VLPs,followed by summarizing the construction and properties of virus-like nanostructures,as well as the mechanisms of nano-bio interface interactions initiated by spiky ***,we focus on the recent advances of VLPs for biomedical applications(including biosensing,antibacterial therapy and cancer treatment).Finally,the future outlook and emerging challenges will be *** review aims to provide future scope of the rational design of inorganic non-viral vectors,especially with respect to gene-based therapy platforms.

Catalyst design relies heavily on electronic metal‐support interactions,but the metal‐support interface with an uncontrollable electronic or coordination environment makes it ***,we outline a promising approach for the rational design of catalysts involving heteroatoms as anchors for Pd nanoparticles for ethanol oxidation reaction(EOR)*** doped B and N atoms from dimethylamine borane(DB)occupy the position of the Ti_(3)C_(2)lattice to anchor the supported Pd *** electrons transfer from the support to B atoms,and then to the metal Pd to form a stable electronic center.A strong electronic interaction can be produced and the d‐band center can be shifted down,driving Pd into the dominant metallic state and making Pd nanoparticles deposit uniformly on the ***‐obtained Pd/DB–Ti_(3)C_(2)exhibits superior durability to its counterpart(∼14.6%retention)with 91.1%retention after 2000 cycles,placing it among the top single metal anodic ***,in situ Raman and density functional theory computations confirm that Pd/DB–Ti_(3)C_(2)is capable of dehydrogenating ethanol at low reaction energies.

Recent progress in targeted metabolic therapy of cancer has been limited by the considerable toxicity associated with such *** address this challenge,we developed a smart theranostic prodrug system that combines a fluorophore and an anticancer drug,specifically 6-diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine(DON),using a thioketal linkage(TK).This system enables imaging,chemotherapy,photodynamic therapy,and on-demand drug release upon radiation *** optimized prodrug,DON-TK-BM3,incorporating cyanine dyes as the fluorophore,displayed potent reactive oxygen species release and efficient tumor cell *** the parent drug DON,DON-TK-BM3 exhibited no toxicity toward normal ***,DON-TK-BM3 demonstrated high tumor accumulation and reduced side effects,including gastrointestinal toxicity,in *** study provides a practical strategy for designing prodrugs of metabolic inhibitors with significant toxicity stemming from their lack of tissue selectivity.

Flurbiprofen(FB),a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug,is widely employed in treating ocular inflammation owing to its remarkable anti-inflammatory ***,the racemic nature of its commercially available formulation(Ocufen^(R))limits the full potential of its therapeutic activity,as the(S)-enantiomer is responsible for the desired antiinflammatory ***,the limited corneal permeability of FB significantly restricts its *** this study,we successfully separated the chiral isomers of FB to obtain the highly active(S)-***,utilizing ion-pairing technology,we coupled(S)-FB with various counter-ions,such as sodium,diethylamine,trimethamine(TMA),and l-arginine,to enhance its ocular bioavailability.A comprehensive evaluation encompassed balanced solubility,octanol-water partition coefficient,corneal permeability,ocular pharmacokinetics,tissue distribution,and in vivo ocular anti-inflammatory activity of each chiral isomer *** the various formulations,S-FBTMA exhibited superior water solubility(about 1–12 mg/ml),lipid solubility(1pharmaceutical enterprises focused on drug development with a valuable avenue for improving therapeutic outcomes.

To better characterize the properties of surface-initiated polymers, simultaneous bulk-and surface-initiated polymerizations are usually carried out by assuming that the properties of the surface-initiated polymers resemble those of the bulk-initiated polymers. Through a Monte Carlo simulation using a heterogeneous stochastic reaction model, it was discovered that the bulk-initiated polymers exhibit a higher molecular weight and a lower dispersity than the corresponding surface-initiated polymers, which indicates that the equivalent assumption is invalid. Furthermore, the molecular weight distributions of the two types of polymers are also different, suggesting different polymerization mechanisms. The results can be simply explained by the heterogeneous distributions of reactants in the system. This study is helpful to better understand surface-initiated polymerization.

Temperature and contact surfaces are critical factors influencing biofilm formation of microbial communities derived from both lab and natural environments. However， there is limited understanding regarding how different temperatures impact transfer dynamics of individual microbial species between meat surfaces in dual-species biofilms. In this study， we evaluated the biofilm-forming capabilities of various meat-derived Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas strains on pork surfaces at 15 ℃ and 25 ℃. The results revealed that lower temperature had a significantly negative effect on the growth fitness of E. coli compared to Pseudomonas. Two robust biofilm-forming strains， E. coli C-13 and P. fluorescens S1-23， were selected under both temperature conditions to further explore their interactions in dual-species biofilms on meat surfaces. Outcome showed that E. coli exhibited a competitive growth advantage at 25 ℃， while Pseudomonas displayed enhanced growth at 15 ℃， indicating temperature-dependent competition patterns. Additionally， three established mathematical models were utilized to simulate the transfer dynamics of the two strains within mono- and dual-species biofilms. As anticipated， the numbers of transferred cells progressively declined with increased imprinting reactions between the meat surfaces. Interestingly， the transfer rates of both strains markedly improved in dual-species versus mono-species biofilms at 15 ℃， highlighting the influential role of inter-species interactions on transfer dynamics of microbes that may cross-contaminate meats. Our findings advance current understanding of mono- and dual-species biofilm development on meat surfaces under different temperature conditions. They also offer scientific evidence to support strategies for controlling microbial cross-contamination during meat processing to ensure product safety.

DNA methyltransferase(MTase) activity detection has received increasing attention as a promising biomarker and therapeutic target. However, most of these detection methods rely on endonuclease digestion and signal groups ***, we present a novel platform for sensing DNA MTase activity that overcomes these limitations. Our approach is both endonuclease-free and label-free, utilizing a combination of a high-affinity streptavidin-methyl-CpG-binding domain(SA-MBD) protein and surface plasmon resonance(SPR) technology. The SA-MBD protein specifically recognizes a hairpin probe containing methylated CpG sites, which is treated with *** MTase. This recognition event generates a corresponding SPR response signal. The limit of detection is as low as 0.016 U/mL, owing to the high-a ffinity of the SA-MBD ***, we have demonstrated the feasibility of our method for *** MTase activity analysis in serum and inhibitor screening, which implies the potential prospects for biomedical research.
