Martensitic and magnetic transformations of Ni-Ga-Fe-co ferromagnetic shape memory alloys

Ferromagnetic shape memory alloys （FSMAs） such as NiMnGa, FePd and FePt are attractive as a new magnetic actuator material. They show a large magnetic-field-induced strain of 3% 9% due to the variant rearrangement. Recently, the present authors have reported that in the Ni-Ga-Fe alloy the martensitic transformationfrom the B2 and/or the L21 structures into a seven-layer or five-layer modulated structure occurs upon cooling. In this alloy system, however, it is impossible to obtain a martensite phase at RT with a curie temperature （Tc） higher than 100 ℃. In this work,the effects of substitution of co for Ni on the martensitic and magnetic transformations,crystal structures and phase equilibria in Ni-Ga-Fe alloys were ***-Ga-Fe-co alloys were prepared by induction melting under an argon *** pieces of specimens were taken from the ingot and homogenized at 1433 K for 24 h followed by quenching in water. The obtained specimens were aged at 773 K for 24 h and then quenched. The compositions of each phase were determined by energy dispersion X-ray spectroscopy （EDX）. The martensitic transformation temperatures and Tc were measured by differential scanning calorimetry （DSc） and vibrating sample magnetometer （VSM） measurement. The crystal structure of martensite phase was observed by X-ray diffractmeter （XRD） and transmission electron microscope （TEM）.The curie temperature Tc was increased with increasing co content while the martensitic transformation temperature slightly decreased. In the Ni54-x Ga27 Fe19 cox ,Tc increases from 303 K to 408 K with increasing co content from x=0 to x=6. The crystal structure of the martensite phase and the phase equiribria in the Ni-Fe-Ga-co alloys will be also presented.

Purpose: To identify Osterix binding factors。Methods: candidates were analyzed by MALDI-TOF analysis, followed by immunoprecipitation and immunocytochemistry。Results: RNA Helicase A (RHA) was identified as a new Osterix binding factor。Osterix interacts with RHA in the c-terminal region。conclusion: RHA binds to Osterix and this result suggests that RHA may act as a component in Osterix regulation。

Importance of virological response in the early stage of telaprevir-based triple therapy for hepatitis c

AIM: To investigate the efficacy of virological response(VR) to telaprevir(TVR)-based triple therapy in predicting treatment outcome of hepatitis ***: This prospective, multicenter study consisted of 253 Japanese patients infected with hepatitis c virus(HcV) genotype 1b. All received 12 wk of TVR in combination with 24 wk of pegylatedinterferon-α(IFN-α) and ribavirin. Serum HcV RNA was tested at weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24. VR was defined as undetectable serum HcV RNA. Sustained virological response(SVR) was VR at 24 wk after the end of treatment and was regarded as a successful ***: Of 253 patients, 207(81.8%) achieved SVR. The positive predictive value of VR for SVR was 100% at week 2, after which it gradually decreased, and was over 85% to week 12. The negative predictive value(NPV) gradually increased, reaching 100% at week 12. The upslope of the NPV showed a large increase from week 4(40.6%) to week 6(82.4%). There was a moderate concordance between the SVR and VR at week 6(kappa coefficient = 0.44), although other VRs had poor concordance to SVR. Multiple logistic regression analysis extracted VR at week 6(P ctor contributing to SVR. In addition, the interleukin-28 B single nucleotide polymorphism and response to previous pegylated-IFN-α and ribavirin therapy were identified as independent factors for ***: VR at week 6, but not at week 4, is an efficient predictor of both SVR and non-SVR to TVRbased triple therapy.

Background: Gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms are common in patients with chronic renal failure (cRF), but the pathogenesis of these symptoms is unclear. Gastric motor function in cRF patients remains controversial, and the correlation between GI symptoms and gastric motility is also unclear. The aim of this study was to elucidate the relationship between gastric motility and GI symptoms in patients with cRF. Methods: Gastric motility was evaluated with cutaneously recorded electrogastrographs (EGGs) and gastric emptying of a solid meal, using 13c-octanoic acid breath testing, in 21 patients with predialysis endstage cRF and in 21 matched healthy controls. GI symptom severity was quantified in all patients. Results: The cRF patients had a significantly lower incidence of normogastria postprandially and a lower power ratio than did healthy controls on the EGGs, with the cRF patients showing delayed gastric emptying. Three patients with normal gastric motility had no GI symptoms, and ten patients with both abnormal EGG and delayed gastric emptying had significantly higher GI symptom scores than the patients without abnormalities. conclusions: The patients with cRF showed gastric hypomotility, including impaired gastric myoelectrical activity and delayed gastric emptying. Gastric hypomotility appears to be an important factor in the generation of GI symptoms in patients with cRF.

We report the case of a 61-year-old Japanese man with IgG λ -type multiple myeloma, who presented with nail dystrophy as the initial manifestation of systemic amyloidosis. Subsequently he developed bullous amyloidosis. This report documents these two rare signs of systemic amyloidosis and demonstrates the precise location of cutaneous blister formation and amyloid deposition by fluorescence antigen mapping and electron microscopy.

PURPOSE: To analyze clinical features of the tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis (TINU) syndrome in Japan, especially exacerbations or recurrences of uveitis. DESIGN: Retrospective observational study. METHODS: We reviewed the clinical features in 12 patients with TINU syndrome diagnosed by renal biopsy, who were evaluated and treated at the Department of Ophthalmology, Hokkaido University Hospital. Visual acuity was measured using decimal visual acuity. RESULTS: Patient age ranged from 10 to 33 years (mean 21 years), and females accounted for 83% of the cases. Both eyes were affected in 11 patients (92% ). All 12 patients initially experienced ocular symptoms, with hyperemia being the chief complaint. We diagnosed patients as having uveitis and conducted blood tests and urinalysis. Urinalysis did show characteristic findings, most notably glucosuria, increased β 2 microglobulin that were creased N-acetylglucosaminidose levels in a high percentage of patients. Recurrent or exacerbating uveitis was seen in six patients (50% ). In exacerbated or recurrent uveitis, in flammation was more severe (cells of the anterior eye segment). The ocular inflammation generally responded well to treatment with oral corticosteroids, and the number of recurrences was lower at corticosteroid doses of cONcLUSIONS: Ophthalmologists play an important role in the initial discovery of patients with TINU syndrome. Because inflammation was more severe in exacerbated or recurrent uveitis, in instances where uveitis is refractory to local therapy, oral corticosteroids should be considered as early as possible.

Background:Access to clean and safe drinking water that is free from pathogenic protozoan parasites,especially cryptosporidium parvum and Giardia lamblia that cause gastrointestinal illness in humans,is still an issue in Southeast Asia(SEA).This study is the first attempt to detect the aforementioned protozoan parasites in water samples from countries in SEA,using real-time polymerase chain reaction(qPcR)***:A total of 221 water samples of 10 l each were collected between April and October 2013 from Malaysia(53),Thailand(120),the Philippines(33),and Vietnam(15).A physicochemical analysis was *** water samples were processed in accordance with the US Environmental Protection Agency’s methods 1622/1623.1,microscopically observed and subsequently screened using qPcR ***:cryptosporidium oocysts were detected in treated water samples from the Philippines(1/10),with a concentration of 0.06±0.19 oocyst/L,and untreated water samples from Thailand(25/93),Malaysia(17/44),and the Philippines(11/23),with concentrations ranging from 0.13±0.18 to 0.57±1.41 oocyst/*** cysts were found in treated water samples from the Philippines(1/10),with a concentration of 0.02±0.06 cyst/L,and in untreated water samples from Thailand(20/93),Vietnam(5/10),Malaysia(22/44),and the Philippines(16/23),with concentrations ranging from 0.12±0.3 to 8.90±19.65 cyst/*** pathogens *** and *** were detected using using qPcR assays by targeting the 138-bp fragment and the small subunit gene,*** was detected in untreated water samples from the Philippines(1/23)and Malaysia(2/44),whilst,*** detected was detected in treated water samples from the Philippines(1/10)and in untreated water samples from Thailand(21/93),Malaysia(12/44),and the Philippines(17/23).Nitrate concentration was found to have a high positive correlation with(oo)cyst(0.993).conclusion:The presence of(oo)cysts in the water samples means that there is potential risk for

动态全球植被模型(dynamic global vegetation models,DGVMs)在模拟和预测陆地生态系统对气候变化响应中表现出很大的不确定性,重要原因之一在于动态全球植被模型将定义植物功能型的性状值设置为常数,忽略了植物功能性状对环境变化的响应.动态全球植被模型现有的植物功能型框架已经严重地阻碍了其发展,因此迫切需要一种新的方法来克服这种局限性.植物功能性状不仅可以反映植物对环境连续变化的响应,而且与生态系统的结构和功能密切相关,可提升当前动态全球植被模型对生态系统过程的模拟和功能的预测.本文从动态全球植被模型发展和植物功能型局限性入手,详细介绍了植物功能性状发展现状及其对动态全球植被模型改进的重要价值,归纳总结了植物功能性状对动态全球植被模型改进的主要方法,并指明植物功能性状对动态全球植被模型改进的发展方向.以期通过凝练植物功能性状在构建下一代动态全球植被模型中发挥作用,推动动态全球植被模型在我国的发展和应用.

倒伏降低水稻产量和品质,增加收获困难和成本。近地层大气中迅速上升的臭氧(O3)浓度使作物生长受抑产量降低,但对抗倒性的影响不清楚。本文利用FAcE(Free Air gas concentration Enrichment)试验特有的空间优势,依托位于中国扬州的稻田臭氧FAcE系统平台,以武运粳21为供试品种,设置正常(即大气背景浓度)和高浓度O3(比大气背景浓度高约25%),定量研究地表O3浓度升高对粳型水稻抗倒能力的影响。结果表明:高浓度O3对水稻抽穗期、抽穗后20 d和成熟期茎杆倒5、倒4和倒3节间的倒伏指数均无显著影响。臭氧胁迫对水稻抽穗和抽穗后20 d基部节间的抗折力和弯曲力矩无显著影响,但使成熟期基部节间弯曲力矩和抗折力均下降;高浓度O3对抽穗期和抽穗后20 d倒5、倒4、倒3和倒2和倒1节间的粗度和单位长度干重均无显著影响,但使成熟期倒5节间的粗度以及基部节间单位长度干重显著或极显著下降;进一步研究表明,高浓度O3使成熟期各节间可溶性糖和淀粉含量一致下降,降幅多达显著水平。以上数据表明,臭氧胁迫对常规水稻武运粳21结实前、中期基部节间的抗折力和弯曲力矩没有影响,但使结实后期基部节间的弯曲力矩(穗重减轻所致)和抗折力降低(节间充实不良所致),两者对茎杆抗倒能力的影响相互抵消,因此未来高浓度臭氧环境下武运粳21的倒伏风险不会增加。
