BACKGROUnd Fish gallbladder has long been used as a folk remedy in Asian *** organ damage after ingestion of fish gallbladder resulting in near mortality has been known to ***,we describe a case of acute renal failure(ARF)and hepatitis due to grass carp gallbladder poisoning and review the *** sUMMARY A previously healthy,50-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with a 2-d history of generalized abdominal pain and repeated vomiting following ingestion of two raw grass carp gallbladders in an attempt to alleviate her *** developed anuria on day 4 with markedly elevated serum creatinine,urea,bilirubin,alanine aminotransferase,and aspartate *** on thorough evaluation of her history and prompt biochemical investigations,we diagnosed her with ARF and hepatitis secondary to fish gallbladder *** renal biopsy revealed acute tubular necrosis,following which she underwent six sessions of conventional hemodialysis due to renal *** treatment with gastric mucosal protectant and liver protectant was administered for targeted organ *** patient’s liver function gradually recovered,and serum creatinine was 164 mmol/L at discharge on day *** a follow-up period of 2 wk,her renal function completely *** Physicians should be mindful of toxic complications of raw grass carp gallbladder ingestion and we should promote awareness to reduce incidences of food poisoning.

Background Respiratory syncytial virus(RsV)is the leading global cause of respiratory infections and is responsible for about 3 million hospitalizations and more than 100,000 deaths annually in children younger than 5 years,representing a major global healthcare *** is a great unmet need for new agents and universal strategies to prevent RsV infections in early life.A multidisciplinary consensus development group comprising experts in epidemiology,infectious diseases,respiratory medicine,and methodology aims to develop the current consensus to address clinical issues of RsV infections in *** sources The evidence searches and reviews were conducted using electronic databases,including PubMed,Embase,Web of science,and the Cochrane Library,using variations in terms for"respiratory syncytial virus","RsV","lower respiratory tract infection","bronchiolitis","acute","viral pneumonia","neonatal","infant""children",and"pediatric".Results Evidence-based recommendations regarding diagnosis,treatment,and prevention were proposed with a high degree of *** supportive care remains the cornerstone for the management of RsV infections,new monoclonal antibodies,vaccines,drug therapies,and viral surveillance techniques are being rolled *** This consensus,based on international and national scientific evidence,reinforces the current recommendations and integrates the recent advances for optimal care and prevention of RsV *** improvements in the management of RsV infections will require generating the highest quality of evidence through rigorously designed studies that possess little bias and sufficient capacity to identify clinically meaningful end points.

Responding to the fast-spreading sARs-CoV-2 Omicron variant, to improve screening efficiency, rapid antigen tests(RATs) were first added as a supplementary detection method in China in mid-March, 2022. What and how big a role RATs should play need to be supported by clinical data. Here, RAT performance and relevant factors in comparison with nucleic acid amplification tests(NAATs) were assessed in Omicron-infected inpatients. From the NAAT results, nasopharyngeal swabs(NPs) performed better than oropharyngeal swabs(OPs). RATs tested on NAAT positive NPs performed better than those with OP-positive samples. The RAT positivity rate was strongly associated with high levels of N and OFR1ab genes, especially in NPs where patients also had significantly longer hospital stays and shorter days from symptom onset to RAT testing. self-performed RATs had a detection accuracy that was comparable to professionally performed RATs when the subjects were well guided. The antigen negative rate of the studied patients was 100% at discharge. These findings suggest that, in addition to a supplementary detection role, RATs can be an important strategy for evaluating the disease progression of Omicron-infected inpatients. This study provides important clinical data to support better rules regarding RATs under China’s COVID-19 prevention and control policy.
