Spinal cord injury is a serious disease of the central nervous system involving irreversible nerve injury and various organ system *** present,no effective clinical treatment *** one of the artificial hibernation techniques,mild hypothermia has preliminarily confirmed its clinical effect on spinal cord ***,its technical defects and barriers,along with serious clinical side effects,restrict its clinical application for spinal cord *** hibernation is a futureoriented disruptive technology for human life *** involves endogenous hibernation inducers and hibernation-related central neuromodulation that activate particular neurons,reduce the central constant temperature setting point,disrupt the normal constant body temperature,make the body adapt"to the external cold environment,and reduce the physiological resistance to cold ***,studying the artificial hibernation mechanism may help develop new treatment strategies more suitable for clinical use than the cooling method of mild hypothermia *** review introduces artificial hibernation technologies,including mild hypothermia technology,hibernation inducers,and hibernation-related central neuromodulation *** summarizes the relevant research on hypothermia and hibernation for organ and nerve *** studies show that artificial hibernation technologies have therapeutic significance on nerve injury after spinal co rd injury through inflammatory inhibition,immunosuppression,oxidative defense,and possible central *** also promotes the repair and protection of res pirato ry and digestive,cardiovascular,locomoto r,urinary,and endocrine *** review provides new insights for the clinical treatment of nerve and multiple organ protection after spinal cord injury thanks to artificial *** present,artificial hibernation technology is not mature,and research fa ces various *** rtheless,the effort is wo rthwhi

OBJECTIVE:To explore the sensitization acupoints of women with primary dysmenorrhea(PD)by comparing infrared radiation temperatures between acupoints and ***:We tested 10 acupoints of every woman with PD and healthy subjects on premenstrual,menstrual,and postmenstrual days using an infrared imaging *** primary outcome was the absolute value of body surface temperature difference(AVTD)between the left and right sides of the same testing ***:A total of 58 PD patients and 57 healthy volunteers completed the test from May 2016 to May *** with the healthy group,we observed a significant reduction and increase in the AVTD in Taichong(LR3)and Sanyinjiao(SP6),respectively,during menstrual days in the PD group(P=0.01;P=0.04);while during postmenstrual days,all AVTDs of Shuiquan(KI5),Diji(SP8),and Xuehai(SP10)were diminished in the PD group(P=0.01;P=0.03;P=0.01,respectively).No significant differences in AVTD were detected at any other points or testing ***:Compared with the healthy group,the AVTDs of Taichong(LR3),Sanyinjiao(SP6),Shuiquan(KI5),Diji(SP8),and Xuehai(SP10)at menstruationrelevant points of PD patients were sensitized,providing a reference for the selection of acupoints in the treatment of PD.

OBJECTIVES: To study the expression of inflammatory signal in local prostate tissue of chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CPPS) rats by electroacupuncture(EA) of Guanyuan(CV4), Zhongji(CV3), Huiyang(BL35) and Sanyinjiao(SP6), and to explore the possible mechanism of anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of EA. METHODS : A total of 36 Sprague-Dawley male rats were randomly divided into three groups: control, model and EA(n=12 rats/group). The CPPS model was made by injection of CFA into ventral lobes of the prostate(0.1 m L). Electric acupuncture apparatus was applied to stimulate Guanyuan(CV4), Zhongji(CV3), bilateral Huiyang(BL35) and Sanyinjiao(SP6) acupoints in EA group. The general condition of rats was observed and the prostate index(PI) was calculated. The thermal pain threshold was collected after each therapeutic course. Histopathological changes of the prostate tissue were examined by hematoxylin-eosin staining method. The expression levels of tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α), interleukin-1β(IL-1β) and prostaglandin E2(PGE2) in prostatic homogenates were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Moreover, the expression levels of purinergic 2X7 receptor(P2X7R), NOD-like receptor pyrin domain-containing 3(NLRP3), caspase-1 and interleukin-18(IL-18) m RNA were quantified by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: Compared with control group, the PI of rats increased, and the thermal pain threshold decreased significantly in model group. The morphological structure of prostate tissues of rats in model group was severely damaged with a large number of inflammatory cells infiltration. Additionally, the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β and PGE2 were higher, and the expressions of P2X7R, NLRP3, caspase-1 and IL-18 m RNA were higher than those in control group. After EA treatment, the PI was significantly decreased, the thermal pain threshold was significantly increased, and the tissue damage was significantly improved. The expressions of inflammator

Background: Some depressed patients receive acupuncture as an adjunct to their conventional ***: This review aims to provide evidence on whether acupuncture can enhance the therapeutic effectiveness of antidepressants for treating depression, and explore whether acupuncture can reduce the adverse reactions associated with *** strategy: English and chinese databases were searched for randomized controlled trials(RCTs)published until December 1, *** criteria: RCTs with a modified Jadad scale score ≥ 4 were included if they compared a group of participants with depression that received acupuncture combined with antidepressants with a control group that received antidepressants *** extraction and analysis: Meta-analysis was performed, and statistical heterogeneity was assessed based on Cochran’s Q statistic and its related P-value. Primary outcomes were the reduction in the severity of depression and adverse reactions associated with antidepressants, while secondary outcomes included remission rate, treatment response, social functioning, and change in antidepressant *** Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation(GRADE) framework was used to evaluate the overall quality of evidence in the included ***: This review included 16 studies(with a total of 1958 participants). Most studies were at high risk of performance bias and at low or unclear risk of selection bias, detection bias, attrition bias, reporting bias, and other bias. Immediate analgesic effect of needling acupoints(bilateral De Qi vs unilateral De Qi)on primary dysmenorrhea:a multi-center,randomized,controlled trail

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effect of needling acupoints(bilateral vs unilateral) with De Qi using data collected from 501 primary dysmenorrhea(PD) patients participating in multi-center, randomized,controlled ***: De Qi was defined as at least one of the feelings in soreness, numbness, fullness or heaviness at the acupoints when stimulated with needles. The 501 patients were grouped in 3 groups in terms of De Qi or not De Qi in one side(unilateral)or both sides(bilateral) of the body: bilateral De Qi group, unilateral De Qi group, and non-De Qi group. The abdominal pains were measured using visual analog scale(VAS).RESULTS: In 501 patients, 472 acquired De Qi at unilateral acupoints, 24 De Qi at bilateral acupoint,and 5 had no De Qi at any acupoint. The data of non-De Qi group was excluded as the sample was less than 5% of that in the bilateral De Qi *** was significant difference in the VAS before and after treatment between unilateral and bilateral De Qi group(P < 0.01). After stratified by acupoints, for the patients needled at Sanyinjiao(SP 6)and Xuanzhong(GB 39), VAS scores in the bilateral De Qi group were larger than those in the unilateral De Qi group(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: Bilateral De Qi was possibly superior to unilateral De Qi in enhancing the immediate analgesic effect of needling the acupoints, but no statistical significance was observed on the pa-tients of needling at non acupoint, which preliminarily suggested this immediate analgesic effect was perhaps along meridians.

Effect of acupuncture plus conventional treatment on brain activity in ischemic stroke patients: a regional homogeneity analysis

OBJECTIVE: To determine differences in cerebral activity evoked by acupuncture and conventional stroke treatment, and identify the treatment ***: In total, 21 patients were randomly divided into two groups. Group A(11 patients) received both acupuncture and conventional treatment, while group B(10 patients) received conventional treatment only. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging(f MRI) was performed on each participant before and after treatment. Regional homogeneity analysis was performed to investigate the potential mechanism of acupuncture treatment by comparing differences in cerebral activity between ***: Group A showed higher Re Ho in the frontal lobe(BA6, BA46), supra-marginal gyrus(BA40),middle temporal gyrus(BA21), cerebellum, and insula. Group B showed higher Re Ho in the frontal lobe(BA6) and parietal lobe(BA3, BA7).CONCLUSION: acupuncture and conventional treatment triggered relatively different clinical efficacy and brain responses. acupuncture treatment more significantly improved the symptoms of stroke patients. More marked changes in sensory,emotional, and motor areas(including the frontal lobe, middle temporal gyrus, cerebellum, and insula) might reflect the specific acupuncture mechanism.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of moxa-burning heat stimulating acupoints Zusanli(ST36) and Shenshu(BL23) on macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF) and its related molecules which can provide scientific experimental basis for the clinical application of moxibustion treatment of rheumatoid arthritis(RA). METHODS: Thirty rabbits were randomly assigned to control group, RA model(established by injecting Freund’s Complete Adjuvant) group(RA group) and RA model with moxibustion group [Moxa group, Zusanli(ST36) and Shenshu(BL23), 5 moxa pillars/day, 6 d × 3]. The expressions of MIF m RNA were evaluated with reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction;the apoptosis rates of macrophages were detected by erminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d TUP nick end labeling;the expressions of related signal molecules were detected with immunohistochemical S-P method and the levels of IL-2 were detected with enzymelinked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS: The expressions of MIF m RNA, extracellular regulated protein kinases 2, p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase and nuclear factor-κ-gene binding p65 in synovial tissue of RA group were significantly increased when compared with control group, which were lower remarkably in moxa group than those in RA group. The apoptosis rates of macrophages in RA group were significantly down-regulated as compared with the control group, which were up-regulated in moxa group compared with the RA group. The levels of IL-2 in synovial fluid from the RA group were elevated significantly as compared with that from control group, but those of the moxa group were reduced when compared with those from RA group. CONCLUSIONS: moxibustion may simultaneously regulate the expressions of MIF and its related signaling pathways molecules, the apoptosis rate of macrophages in synovial tissue, as well as the level of inflammatory factors in synovial fluid.
