Microstructure,texture and precipitates of grain-oriented silicon steel produced by thin slab casting and rolling process

A grain-oriented silicon steel strip with AlN as main inhibitor was produced by thin slab casting and rolling（TSCR）*** microstructure,texture and precipitates of the hot-rolled strip were investigated by use of optical microscope（OM）,X-ray diffractometer,transmission electron microscope（teM）and energy dispersive spectroscope（EDS）.The result shows that the microstructure and texture exhibit a through-thickness gradient similar to that of the hot-rolled strip produced by conventional high-temperature slab-reheating process;the preferred orientation varies from {110}〈001〉in the surface layer to{001}〈110〉in the center layer,and the Goss texture with a maximum intensity mainly concentrates on the surface *** addition,some other texture components,for example rotated Goss texture,form in the 1/4thickness layer,which are not observed in the hotrolled strip produced by conventional high-temperature slab-reheating *** precipitates in the hot-rolled strip are mainly（Mn,Cu）S and AlN compound particles with dimension of 100-200 nm,and the fine precipitates are significantly less than that in the hot-rolled strip produced by conventional high-temperature slab-reheating ***,the areal density of the fine precipitates in the center layer is more than that in the surface layer.

The precipitation behavior of FeTiP in interstitial free high strength（IFHS）steels has been studied by using a transmission electron microscope（teM）.The results show that the TiC particles,appearing at earlier stage,are more stable than the FeTiP ones during recrystallization annealing at the two given temperatures（810℃ and 840℃）.Therefore,the FeTiP particles can only be observed in the steels with sufficient amount of *** is a critical forming time for the FeTiP,which is between 90-120 sat 810 ℃ and 60-90 sat 840 ℃.The precipitation of FeTiP involves two steps,*** formation of FeTi precursors and the diffusion of *** former step determines the reliance of Ti content for the precipitation of FeTiP,whereas the latter step leads to the difference in the critical annealing time.

The formation and evolution of aerosol in turbulent flows are ubiquitous in both industrial processes and nature. The intricate interaction of turbulent mixing and aerosol evolution in a canonical turbulent mixing layer was investigated by a direct numerical simulation （DNS） in a recent study （Zhou, K., Attili, A., Alshaarawi, A., and Bisetti, F. Simulation of aerosol nucleation and growth in a turbulent mixing layer. Physics of Fluids, 26, 065106 （2014））. In this work, Monte Carlo （MC） simulation of aerosol evolution is carried out along Lagrangian trajectories obtained in the previous simulation, in order to quantify the error of the moment method used in the previous simulation. Moreover, the particle size distribution （PSD）, not available in the previous works, is also investigated. Along a fluid parcel moving through the turbulent flow, temperature and vapor concentration exhibit complex fluctuations, triggering complicate aerosol processes and rendering complex PSD. However, the mean PSD is found to be bi-modal in most of the mixing layer except that a tri-modal distribution is found in the turbulent transition region. The simulated PSDs agree with the experiment observations available in the literature. A different explanation on the formation of such PSDs is provided.

The inclusion characteristics in extra low-carbon ferromanganese(ELC-FeMn),low-carbon ferromanganese(LC-FeMn),mid-carbon ferromanganese(MC-FeMn),and high-carbon ferromanganese(HC-FeMn)were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive *** effect of FeMn alloys on the cleanliness of transformation-induced plasticity(TRIP)steel was studied based on laboratory-scale experiments and thermodynamic *** results show that the main inclusions in ELC-FeMn are MnO-MnS and MnS,and the dominant inclusions in LC-FeMn and MC-FeMn are MnO,MnO-SiO_(2),and MnO-SiO_(2)-*** inclusions in HC-FeMn are *** MnO-SiO_(2)inclusion,a certain number of Al-,Si-,and Ti-containing inclusions and enrichment phases of Pb,Sn,and P are observed in *** FeMn alloy addition,the main inclusion in steel is *** alloying with the four different grades of FeMn alloy,the main inclusions in TRIP steel are Al_(2)O_(3),AIN,MnS,AlO3-AIN,AINMnS,and Al_(2)O_(3)-*** MnO and SiO_(2)inclusions from FeMn alloys are not detected in TRIP steel.

Influence of particle size on combustion behavior of bamboo char used for blast furnace injection

The combustion behavior of bamboo char and its relationship with particle sizes were evaluated using thermo-gravimetric *** results showed that the combustion properties of bamboo char were much better than those of the anthracite used as a coal injected for blast furnace ironmaking due to its porous structure,disordered microcrystalline and higher catalytic index of ash *** the particle size increased from -0.074 to 0.500-1.000 mm,the ignition temperature and burnout temperature of bamboo char increased,while the combustible index and comprehensive combustion characteristic index decreased *** apparent activation energies of non-isothermal combustion of bamboo char and anthracite were calculated based on the distributed activation energy *** results showed that the average activation energy was 162.86 kJ/mol for-0.074 mm anthracite,while it ranged from 71.01 to 89.44 kJ/mol for bamboo chars of different *** revealed that the combustion reactivity of bamboo char in the largest size (0.500-1.000 mm)was much better than that of -0.074 mm,anthracite;thus,the size of biomass char could be enlarged to the maximum size specified by the injection application of blast furnace.

To improve the properties of low-carbonization of MgO–C refractories,the introduction of composite additives is an effective ***_(2)O_(3)–SiC composite powder was prepared from clay using electromagnetic induction heating and carbon embedded ***,the Al_(2)O_(3)–SiC composite powder synthesized by electromagnetic induction heating at 600 A was added into low-carbon MgO–C refractories(4 wt.%)to improve their *** results showed that when the addition amount of Al_(2)O_(3)–SiC composite powder is within the range of 2.5–5.0 wt.%,the properties of low-carbon MgO–C samples were significantly improved,e.g.,the apparent porosity of 7.58%–8.04%,the bulk density of 2.98–2.99 g cm-3,the cold compressive strength of 55.72–57.93 MPa,the residual strength after three air quenching at 1100°C of 74.86%–78.04%,and the decarburized layer depth after oxidized at 1400°C for 2 h of 14.03–14.87 ***,the idea for the rapid synthesis of Al_(2)O_(3)–SiC composite powder provides an alternative low-carbon MgO–C refractories performance optimization strategy.

Carbon nanotubes （CNTs） have been extensively studied over the last two decades since they possess excellent *** have been considered as new promising reinforcements for carbon containing refractories （CCRs）.Current research progress of the CNT-reinforced MgO-C and Al2O3-C refractories was summarized in this mini-review,and the CNT-reinforced CCRs possess remarkable mechanical properties and superior thermal shock resistance compared to CCRs without CNTs.

The microstructure and properties of phosphate bonded Cr2O3 - -Al2O3 - ZrO2 specimens fired in air or coke bed were investigated firstly. Then property change of the Cr2 O3 - Al2 O3 - ZrO2 bricks after secondary treat- ment in simulation environment was studied. Finally, corrosion resistances of the Cr2 O3 - Al2 O3 - ZrO2 bricks in air and simulation environment were compared; and microstructure of on-site used Cr2O3 - Al2O3 - ZrO2 bricks in slagging gasifiers was analyzed. The results show that the atmosphere has significant effect on the mi- crostructure and properties of the phosphate bonded Cr2O3 -Al2O3 -ZrO2 bricks. As the specimens are fired in air, the phosphate forms a composite solid solution with Cr2 O3 and Al2 O3, therefore, strength of the speci- mens is enhanced. For specimens fired in coke bed, a certain amount of gases are generated owing to the re- duction of phosphate and part of Cr2 O3, which results in the increasing number and size of the pores, bad interfa- cial bonding between Cr2O3 aggregates and matrix as well as low strength of the specimens. During service process in reducing atmosphere, the phosphate binder and part of Cr2O3 in edge of the specimens are also re- duced, leading to significant increase of number and size of the pores in the edge of the specimens; as a result, inreducing atmosphere, the specimens show much worse corrosion resistance than in air.

The equilibrium reaction between CaO-Al2O3-SiO2-MgO slag and 28MnCr5 molten steel was calculated to obtain the suitable slag composition which is effective for decreasing the oxygen content in molten steel. The dissolved oxygen content [O] in molten steel un- der different top slag conditions was calculated using a thermodynamic model and was measured using an electromotive force method in slag-steel equilibrium experiments at 1873 K. The relations among [O], the total oxygen content （T.O）, and the composition of the slag were investigated. The experimental results show that both [O] and T.O decrease with decreasing SiO2 content of the slag and exhibit different trends with the changes in the CaO/Al2O3 mass ratio of the slag. Increasing the CaO/Al2O3 mass ratio results in a decrease in [O] and an in- crease in T.O. To ensure that T.O ≤ 20 ppm and [O] ≤ 10 ppm, the SiO2 content should be controlled to 〈5wt%, and the CaO/AI203 mass ratio should be in the range from 1.2 to 1.6.
