Risk based inspection strategies rely on detailed knowledge of the performance of inspection *** is well known that every inspection technique has limitations in terms of reliability and ***, these are influenced by many factors,e.g.,it depends on operator skills, inspection procedure,defect and object geometry,inspection *** objective of the"POD generator"project is to develop a numerical modeling approach to assess inspection effectiveness for a specific technique and situation. This approach enables a flexible and reliable quantitative assessment at acceptable costs. Besides the models to simulate various degradation mechanisms,numerical models have been developed and validated for accurately simulating the physics of inspection *** the human factor is taken into *** numerical models are then used to generate probability of detection (POD) *** this paper this approach will be illustrated for ultrasonic TOFD inspection. The POD generator will help asset owners to rationalize their inspection and maintenance strategy,*** inspection and maintenance costs whilst preserving safety and reliability of operation at the desired levels.

Understanding the influence of electrode material’s morphology on electrochemical behavior is of great significance for the development of rechargeable batteries,however,such studies are often limited by the inability to precisely control the morphology of electrode ***,nanostructured titanium niobium oxides(TiNb_(2)O_(7))with three different morphologies(one-dimensional(1D),two-dimensional(2D),and three-dimensional(3D))were synthesized via a facile microwave-assisted solvothermal *** influence of the morphological dimension of TiNb_(2)O_(7) as electrode material on the electrochemical performance in Li-ion batteries(LIBs)and the underlying correlation with the electrochemical kinetics were studied in detail.2D TiNb_(2)O_(7)(tno-2D)shows a superior rate capability and cycling stability,associated with improved kinetics for charge transfer and Li-ion diffusion,compared to the 1D and 3D *** X-ray diffraction measurements reveal the structural stability and crystallographic evolution of tno-2D upon lithiation and delithiation and correlate the Li-ion diffusion kinetics with the lattice evolution during battery charge and ***,carbon-coated tno-2D achieves enhanced rate capability(205 mAh·g^(-1) at 50 C)and long-term cycling stability(87%after 1000 cycles at 5 C).This work provides insights into the rational morphology design of electrode materials for accelerated charge transfer and enhanced fast-charging capability,pushing forward the development of electrode materials for high-power rechargeable batteries in future energy storage.

Successful deployment of renewable fuel production requires substantial cost reduction along the entire value chain of the underlying manufacturing *** improve their performance,renewable fuel production technologies should follow a cost-reducing learning *** this article,we adopt recent evidence that learning-by-doing is directly influenced by the technology unit size and explore three scenarios for microwave plasma CO_(2)conversion in which the learning rate varies between 10%,15%,and 20%.Our projections reveal that the total investments required to deploy this CO_(2)conversion technology at an exajoule scale decline from 83 down to 23 billion euros under a 10%increase in the value of the learning *** CO_(2) production costs in 2050 amount to 247–346€(2019)/t CO_(2),in which the range is determined by the value of the learning *** under substantial learning until 2050 the levelized CO production cost is unlikely to become competitive with conventional natural gas-based CO_(2) production processes,except when a CO_(2)tax is applied of up to 150€(2019)/t CO_(2).To optimally exploit effects of learning-by-doing,we recommend developing several CO production technologies simultaneously with multiple unit sizes,so as to improve the chance of ultimately selecting the process with the highest learning rate.

This paper introduces an AC stochastic optimal power flow(SOPF)for the flexibility management of electric vehicle(EV)charging pools in distribution networks under *** AC SOPF considers discrete utility functions from charging pools as a compensation mechanism for eventual energy not served to their charging *** application of the AC SOPF is described where a distribution system operator(DSO)requires flexibility to each charging pool in a day-ahead time frame,minimizing the cost for flexibility while guaranteeing technical *** areas are defined for each charging pool and calculated as a function of a risk parameter involving the uncertainty of the *** show that all players can benefit from this approach,i.e.,the DSO obtains a riskaware solution,while charging pools/tasks perceive a reduction in the total energy payment due to flexibility services.

＜正＞The reproducibility of ultrasonic measurements complicates the interpretation of measurement *** signal from ultrasonic transducers varies for to several reasons,like manufacturing tolerances in a batch,cable length,amplifier properties etc.A known problem that is caused by this effect is the quantitative interpretation of C-scan images from laminates,particularly the porosity present in a *** this type of application,one requires a high level of signal fidelity,or in other words,system independent measurements. Ultrasonic transducers are commonly excited by a short electrical pulse,such that the temporal bandwidth of the transducers determines the shape of the ***,we propose to use an optimized sweep signal,such that after correlation the measured signal has a desired wavelet *** correlation is done with a specially designed correlation signal instead of using the transmitted *** the design process of the sweep and correlation signal,the transfer function of the system,i.e.,transducer and electronics is measured and transformed into a desired response independent of a specific transducer. This approach yields several advantages over conventional excitation,i.e.,it provides higher temporal and spatial resolution,a better signal to noise ratio and allows system independent ultrasonic measurements. The controlled excitation makes it possible to widen the frequency spectrum of a transducer by boosting the signals at frequencies where the transducer has a lower sensitivity.A bandwidth up to 150% is not difficult to achieve with this technique. The length of the sweep determines the signal to noise ratio,the correlation process has the same effect as averaging of signals,only it is much more efficient in *** up to 30 dB can be achieved compared to single pulse excitation.
