Gradient‑Layered MXene/Hollow Lignin Nanospheres Architecture Design for Flexible and Stretchable Supercapacitors

With the rapid development of flexible wearable electronics,the demand for stretchable energy storage devices has *** this work,a novel gradient-layered architecture was design based on single-pore hollow lignin nanospheres(HLNPs)-intercalated two-dimensional transition metal carbide(ti_(3)C_(2)t_(x) MXene)for fabricating highly stretchable and durable *** depositing and inserting HLNPs in the MXene layers with a bottom-up decreasing gradient,a multilayered porous MXene structure with smooth ion channels was constructed by reducing the overstacking of MXene ***,the micro-chamber architecture of thin-walled lignin nanospheres effectively extended the contact area between lignin and MXene to improve ion and electron accessibility,thus better utilizing the pseudocapacitive property of *** these strategies effectively enhanced the capacitive performance of the *** addition,HLNPs,which acted as a protective phase for MXene layer,enhanced mechanical properties of the wrinkled stretchable electrodes by releasing stress through slip and deformation during the stretch-release cycling and greatly improved the structural integrity and capacitive stability of the *** electrodes and symmetric flexible all-solid-state supercapacitors capable of enduring 600%uniaxial tensile strain were developed with high specific capacitances of 1273 mF cm^(−2)(241 F g^(−1))and 514 mF cm^(−2)(95 F g^(−1)),***,their capacitances were well preserved after 1000 times of 600%stretch-release *** study showcased new possibilities of incorporating biobased lignin nanospheres in energy storage devices to fabricate stretchable devices leveraging synergies among various two-dimensional nanomaterials.

A machine learning model to predict unconfined compressive strength of alkali-activated slag-based cemented paste backfill

the unconfined compressive strength(UCS)of alkali-activated slag(AAS)-based cemented paste backfill(CPB)is influenced by multiple design ***,the experimental methods are limited to understanding the relationships between a single design parameter and the UCS,independently of each *** machine learning(ML)methods have proven efficient in understanding relationships between multiple parameters and the UCS of ordinary Portland cement(OPC)-based CPB,there is a lack of ML research on AAS-based *** this study,two ensemble ML methods,comprising gradient boosting regression(GBR)and random forest(RF),were built on a dataset collected from literature alongside two other single ML methods,support vector regression(SVR)and artificial neural network(ANN).the results revealed that the ensemble learning methods outperformed the single learning methods in predicting the UCS of AAS-based *** importance analysis based on the bestperforming model(GBR)indicated that curing time and water-to-binder ratio were the most critical input parameters in the ***,the GBR model with the highest accuracy was proposed for the UCS predictions of AAS-based CPB.

Evaluation of the performance of yielding rockbolts during rockbursts using numerical modeling method

Rockburst;Rockburst damage;Yielding rockbolt;Numerical modeling;UDEC;Underground miningthe assessment of yielding rockbolt performance during rockbursts with actual seismic loading is essential for rock-burst supporting *** this paper,two types of yielding rockbolts(D-bolt and Roofex)and the fully resin-grouted rebar bolt are modeled via the"rockbolt"element in universal distinct element code(UDEC)after an exact calibration procedure.A two-dimensional(2D)model of a deep tunnel is built to fully evaluate the performance(e.g.,capacity of energy-absorption and control of rock damage)of yielding and traditional rockbolts based on the simulated *** influence of different rockburst magnitudes is also *** results suggest that the D-bolt can effectively control and mitigate rockburst damage during a weak rockburst because of its high strength and deformation *** Roofex is too"soft"or"smooth"to limit the movement of ejected rocks and restrain the large deformation,although it has an excellent deformation *** resin-grouted rebar bolt can maintain a high axial force level during rockbursts but is easy to break during dynamic shocks,which fails to control rapid rock bulking or *** types of rockbolts cannot control the large deformation and mitigate rockburst damage effectively during violent *** rockburst damage severity can be significantly reduced by additional support with cable *** study highlights the effectiveness of numerical modeling methods in assessing the complex performance of yielding rockbolts during rockbursts,which can provide some references to improve and optimize the design of rock supporting in burst-prone grounds.

Identification and Cloning of Differentially Expressed Genes Involved in the Interaction Between Potato and Phytophthora infestans using a Subtractive Hybridization and cDNA-AFLP Combinational Approach

Using a subtractive hybridization （SH）/cDNA-AFLP combinational approach, differentially expressed genes involved in the potato-Phytophthora infestans interaction were identified. these included genes potentially controlling pathogenesis or avr genes in P. infestans as well as those potentially involved in potato resistance or susceptibility to this pathogen. Forty-one differentially expressed transcript, derived fragments （tDFs）, resulting from the interaction, were cloned and sequenced. two tDFs, suggested as potential pathogenicity factors, have sequence similarity to N-succinyl diaminopimelate aminotransferase and a transcriptional regulator, tetR family gene, respectively. two other tDFs, suggested as potential avr genes, have sequence similarity to an ESt sequence from Avr41Cf.41Avr91Cf- 9 and a P. infestans avirulence-associated gene, respectively. Genes＇ expression and origin were confirmed using Southern blots, Northern blots and qRt-PCR, he., potential resistance gene DL81 was induced at 12 hpi in the moderately resistant cultivar, whereas it was down-regulated as early as 6 hpi in the susceptible cultivar. On the other hand, DL21 was induced at 6 hpi （3.38-fold） in response to the highly aggressive isolate （US8） and strongly up-regulated thereafter （25.13-fold at 120 hpi.）, whereas it was only slightly up-regulated in response to the weakly aggressive isolate US11 （3.82-fold at 96 hpi）, suggesting its potential involvement as a susceptibility gene.

Power coupler kick of the tRIUMF ICM capture cavities

the tRIUMF Injector CryoModule （ICM） adapted two superconducting single cavities as the capture section for the low injecting energy of 100 keV electrons. Coupler kick induced beam deflection and projected emittance growth are one of the prime concerns of the beam stability, especially at low energies. In low energy applications, the electron velocity changes rapidly inside the cavity, which makes the numerical analysis much more complicated. the commonly used theoretical formulas of the direct integral or the Panofsky- Wenzel theorem is not suitable for the kick calculation of β 1 electrons. Despite that, the above mentioned kick calculation method doesn’t consider injecting electron energy, the beam offset due to the coupler kick may not be negligible because of the low injection energy even if the kick is optimized. thus the beam dynamics code tRACK is used here for the simulation of the power coupler kick perturbation. the coupler kick can be compensated for by a judicious choice of the coupler position in successive cavities from upstream to downstream. the simulation shows that because of the adiabatic damping by the following superconducting 9-cell cavity, even for the worst orbit distortion case after two capture cavities, the kick is still acceptable at the exit of the ICM after reaching 10 MeV. this paper presents the analysis of the transverse kick and the projected emittance growth induced by the coupler for β 1 electrons. the simulated results of the tRIUMF ICM capture cavities are described and presented.

Indigestible cowpea proteins reduced plasma cholesterol after long-term oral administration to Sprague-Dawley rats

Cowpea protein isolate(CPI)was subjected to various dry and wet heat pretreatments followed by sequential digestion with pepsin and pancreatin;the undigested residues were isolated as the indigestible cowpea proteins(ICPs).All the ICPs exhibited in vitro bile acid-binding capacity but ICP from the slow cooling-induced gelation had the highest yield(68%)and was used for rat feeding experiments to determine effect on plasma total cholesterol(tC).Groups consisting of 3 male and 3 female Sprague-Dawley rats each were fed hypercholesterolemic diets that contained casein only or casein that was partially substituted with ICP of CPI for 6 *** showed diet that contained 5%(w/w)ICP was more effective in preventing tC increase(1.8 mmol/L)when compared to increases of 9.34 and 4.15 mmol/L for CPI and casein only diets,respectively.

Spinal cord injuries have profound detrimental effects on individuals, regardless of whether they are caused by trauma or non-traumatic events. the compromised regeneration of the spinal cord is primarily attributed to damaged neurons, inhibitory molecules, dysfunctional immune response, and glial scarring. Unfortunately, currently, there are no effective treatments available that can fully repair the spinal cord and improve functional outcomes. Nevertheless, numerous pre-clinical approaches have been studied for spinal cord injury recovery, including using biomaterials, cells, drugs, or technological-based strategies. Combinatorial treatments, which target various aspects of spinal cord injury pathophysiology, have been extensively tested in the last decade. these approaches aim to synergistically enhance repair processes by addressing various obstacles faced during spinal cord regeneration. thus, this review intends to provide scientists and clinicians with an overview of pre-clinical combinatorial approaches that have been developed toward the solution of spinal cord regeneration as well as update the current knowledge about spinal cord injury pathophysiology with an emphasis on the current clinical management.
