Building surface cool materials are novel materials that can reduce urban heat island intensity and decrease building energy *** study investigated the impact of radiative properties of materials,façade orientation,and morphological parameters on energy consumption in six typical residential neighborhoods in Nanjing,*** neighborhood energy consumption of 16 application schemes considering the façade orientation factor is compared to determine the best energy-saving *** and annual energy-saving rates,savings in electricity costs,and the price ceiling for materials per unit area are *** results show that for low-rise buildings,using cool materials only on the roof can reduce the annual energy consumption by 1%.When cool or super cool materials are also used on the building façade,the annual energy saving rate can be up to 3.4%and 4.3%,*** cool materials on the south façade of buildings is not recommended due to significant heat loss in *** savings in electricity costs and the price ceiling for materials per unit area,the price of cool and super cool materials should be less than 3.0 and 3.7 RMB/m2,respectively,assuming a lifespan of eight years in Nanjing.

Application of Advection-Diffusion Routing Model to Flood Wave Propagation： A Case Study on Big Piney River, Missouri USA

Flood wave propagation modeling is of critical importance to advancing water resources management and protecting human life and property. In this study, we investigated how the advection-diffusion routing model performed in flood wave propagation on a 16 km long downstream section of the Big Piney River, MO. Model performance was based on gaging station data at the upstream and downstream cross sections. We demonstrated with advection-diffusion theory that for small differences in watershed drainage area between the two river cross sections, inflow along the reach mainly contributes to the downstream hydrograph＇s rising limb and not to the falling limb. The downstream hydrograph＇s falling limb is primarily determined by the propagated flood wave originating at the upstream cross section. This research suggests the parameter for the advectiondiffusion routing model can be calibrated by fitting the hydrograph falling limb. Application of the advection diffusion model to the flood wave of January 29, 2013 supports our theoretical finding that the propagated flood wave determines the downstream cross section falling limb, and the model has good performance in our test examples.

The purpose of this paper is to complement the results by Lanzani and Stein(2017) by showing the dense definability of the Cauchy-Leray transform for the domains that give the counter-examples of Lanzani and Stein(2017), where L^p-boundedness is shown to fail when either the "near" C^2 boundary regularity, or the strong C-linear convexity assumption is dropped.

Aims Geographic patterns of the intensity of plant herbivory in relation to climate factors have garnered little general support and appear to be species ***,plant-herbivore interactions are also driven by resource availability,such as soil nutrient content,and it remains unclear whether broad-scale variation in soil factors is reflected in herbivore consumption rates across species’***,we know little of how intraspecific variation in tissue quality associates with edaphic and climatic factors,and how this variation controls herbivore *** resource availability hypothesis(RAH)predicts that plant individuals growing in low-resource environments will have lower leaf nutritional quality and more constitutive defenses,which will result in lower rates of leaf *** We collected leaves from the old-field dominant species,Solidago altissima L.,from 20 sites across 10 degrees of latitude in the Eastern USA to determine the percentage leaf area consumed by insect *** obtained soil and climate data for each site,as well as plant functional and defensive traits,including specific leaf area(SLA),leaf carbon:nitrogen(C:N),and trichome *** Findings Although we found no significant latitudinal trend of leaf consump-tion rate,there was strong evidence that leaf herbivory decreased with leaf C:N and trichome density,which themselves decreased with soil N,supporting our hypothesis that the RAH applies for intraspecific variation across spatial ***,high precipitation seasonality and soil nitrogen predicted decreased *** results suggest that spatial variation in herbivory can be driven by factors other than herbivore communities and climatic gradients,and that bottom-up processes,where plant traits and soil fertility control leaf consumption,must be incorporated into spatial predictions of herbivory.

In the past few decades,meteorological datasets from remote sensing techniques in agricultural and water resources management have been used by various researchers and *** on the literature,meteorological datasets are not more accurate than synoptic stations,but their various advantages,such as spatial coverage,time coverage,accessibility,and free use,have made these techniques superior,and sometimes we can use them instead of synoptic *** this study,we used four meteorological datasets,including Climatic Research Unit gridded Time Series(CRU TS),Global Precipitation Climatology Centre(GPCC),Agricultural National Aeronautics and Space Administration Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications(AgMERRA),Agricultural Climate Forecast System Reanalysis(AgCFSR),to estimate climate variables,i.e.,precipitation,maximum temperature,and minimum temperature,and crop variables,i.e.,reference evapotranspiration,irrigation requirement,biomass,and yield of maize,in Qazvin Province of Iran during *** first,data were gathered from the four meteorological datasets and synoptic station in this province,and climate variables were ***,after using the AquaCrop model to calculate the crop variables,we compared the results of the synoptic station and meteorological *** the four meteorological datasets showed strong performance for estimating climate *** and AgCFSR had more accurate estimations for precipitation and maximum ***,their normalized root mean square error was inferior to CRU for minimum ***,they were all very efficient for estimating the biomass and yield of maize in this *** reference evapotranspiration and irrigation requirement CRU TS and GPCC were the most efficient rather than AgMERRA and *** for the estimation of biomass and yield,all the four meteorological datasets were *** sum up,GPCC and AgCFSR were the two best datasets in thi

Twitter Users' Privacy Concerns: What do Their Accounts' First Names Tell Us?

Purpose： In this paper, we describe how gender recognition on Twitter can be used as an intelligent business tool to determine the privacy concerns among users, and ultimately offer a more personalized service for customers who are more likely to respond positively to targeted advertisements. Design/methodology/approach： We worked with two different data sets to examine whether Twitter users＇ gender, inferred from the first name of the account and the profile description, correlates with the privacy setting of the account. We also used a set of features including the inferred gender of Twitter users to develop classifiers that predict user privacy settings. Findings： We found that the inferred gender of Twitter users correlates with the account＇s privacy setting. Specifically, females tend to be more privacy concerned than males. Users whose gender cannot be inferred from their provided first names tend to be more privacy concerned. In addition, our classification performance suggests that inferred gender can be used as an indicator of the user＇s privacy preference. Research limitations： It is known that not all twitter accounts are real user accounts, and social bots tweet as well. A maj or limitation of our study is the lack of consideration of social bots in the data. In our study, this implies that at least some percentage of the undefined accounts, that is, accounts that had names non-existent in the name dictionary, are social bots. It will be interesting to explore the privacy setting of social bots in the Twitter space. Practical implications： Companies are investing large amounts of money in business intelligence tools that allow them to know the preferences of their consumers. Due to the large number of consumers around the world, it is very difficult for companies to have direct communication with each customer to anticipate market changes. Charge trap density and carrier mobility of perovskite materials are the critical properties of perovskite solar *** space charge limited current(SCLC)method,which measures a dark current–voltage(I-V)curve of a single-carrier device has found extensive use for studying the trap density and charge carrier mobility in perovskite ***,it was found that the electron-and hole-current in organo-lead perovskite-based single-carrier device undergoes significant hysteresis under forward and reverse scanning due to the mobile *** addition,it was also observed that measuring history has a detrimental effect on hysteresis resulting in possible overestimation or underestimation of the extracted electrical values from the SCLC *** the forward/reverse scanning process,the mobile ionic defects enhance/shield the charge in the traps due to ionic charging/discharging,thereby increasing/reducing the interface barrier and net charge in the I-V scanning,which in turn affects the determination of transport properties of the *** results raise quite a few doubts over the direct application of classical SCLC measurements for the accurate characterization of intrinsic transport properties of the mixed ionicelectronic perovskite.

Classical plate theory has been used to find out interfacial stress intensity factors in composite laminates. By using a well-known relation between the crack-tip energy release rate and the complex stress intensity factor. a closed-form solution for complex. Stress intensity in terms of external loading and a mode mix parameter for fairly. general composite laminates is given. Then a procedure for determining this mode mix. parameter is presented. followed by numerical results for some laminates. Small scale contact condition is expressed in terms of external loading In particular, a symmetric property of interfacial toughness curye is proven. Finally. the accuracy of failure load predicled by elininating oscllation index is discussed. and an example is presented to show the validity and limitation of β=0 approximation.
