Polymorphism of CYPIAl and GSTMl genes associated with susceptibility of gastric cancer in shandong province of China

AIM： To explore whether polymorphisms of the CYPIA1 and GSTM1 genes are associated with susceptibility of stomach cancer. METHODS： A total of 102 stomach cancer cases and 62 healthy persons were diagnosed by pathology in 1998- 2000 in the Qilu Hospital of shandong University. Gene polymorphisms were detected by the PCR using sequencespecific primers. Data analysis of the case-control study was carried out using the unconditional logistic method. RESULTS： After adjustment for age, sex, educational levels, and occupation, the risk factors for stomach cancer were shown to be smoking, Helicobacter pylori （H pylon）, and presence of the CYPIM G/G and GSTM1O/O genotypes. Interaction was observed between the combined genotypes of either CYPIA1 G/G and GSTM1O/O or Hpyloriinfection, or GSTM1O/O and Hpyloriinfection or smoking. CONCLUSION： Polymorphisms of the CYPIA1 and GSTM1 genes, Hpyloriinfection and smoking are related to susceptibility to stomach cancer.

As the main organic acid in fruits,malate is produced in the cytoplasm and is then transported into the *** accumulates by vacuolar proton pumps,transporters,and channels,affecting the taste and flavor of *** the three types of proton pumps(V-ATPases,V-PPases,and P-ATPases),the P-ATPases play an important role in the transport of malate into *** this study,the transcriptome data,collected at different stages after blooming and during storage,were analyzed and the results demonstrated that the expression of MdPH5,a vacuolar proton-pumping P-ATPase,was associated with both pre-and post-harvest malate ***,MdPH5 is localized at the tonoplast and regulates malate accumulation and vacuolar *** addition,MdMYB73,an upstream MYB transcription factor of MdPH5,directly binds to its promoter,thereby transcriptionally activating its expression and enhancing its *** this way,MdMYB73 can also affect malate accumulation and vacuolar ***,this study clarifies how MdMYB73 and MdPH5 act to regulate vacuolar malate transport systems,thereby affecting malate accumulation and vacuolar pH.

Optical chirality is one of the important and fundamental dynamic properties of light besides energy, momentum,and angular momentum. The quantification of electromagnetic chirality has been conceptualized only recently. Now, it is well known that for paraxial plane waves of light, the optical chirality is proportional to the ellipticity of the polarization ellipse, i.e., completely independent of the phase distribution. Here it is shown that optical vortex and state of polarization of the source paraxial field both have contributions to the optical chirality of the nonparaxial field generated by tightly focused Laguerre–Gaussian(LG) beam, which is in Stark contrast to the paraxial plane wave of light known from classical optics. The physical reason is the redistribution of local electromagnetic polarization in three dimensions associated with spin–orbit interaction.

A novel temperature controlled ionic liquid dispersive liquid phase microextracfion （TCIL-DLPME） coupled with rapid resolution liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry （RRLC-ESI-MS-MS） has been developed for the enrichment and determination of three hexabromocyclododecane diastereomers （HBCDs） in water samples. Green solvent ionic liquid （IL） was used as extraction solvent instead of toxic organic solvents. This technique also avoided the usage of dispersive solvent. Some important parameters that might affect the extraction efficiency were optimized. Under the optimum conditions, good linear relationship, sensitivity and reproducibility were obtained. All the limits of detection for the three diastereomers were 0.1 ng/ mL. The linear range was obtained in the range of 1-100 ng/mL for the total amount of three HBCD diastereomers. It was satisfactory to analyze real environmental water samples with the recoveries ranging from 77.2% to 99.3%. The main advantage of the method is toxic organic solvent-free.

BACKGROUND Hepatic steatosis is a common radiologic *** imaging inklings are the absence of a mass effect,and there is currently no report of hepatic steatosis with mass *** SUMMARY A 23-year-old female was admitted due to a liver mass for half a *** obvious abnormalities were found in physical and laboratory ***,computed tomography,and magnetic resonance imaging showed a huge mass between the liver and stomach with a significant mass effect,and the caudate lobe and left lobe of the liver were *** signal on T2-and T1-weighted fat-saturated images of the mass was significantly reduced,and the enhanced scan showed inhomogeneous *** and pathological findings indicated the diagnosis of hepatic *** operation and re-review of the patient’s images showed that the lesion was supplied by the branch of the hepatic *** signal on T1-weighted out-of-phase images of the lesion was lower than on in-phase images,and there was no black rim cancellation artifact around the hepatic steatosis area on T1-weighted out-of-phase *** dynamic enhancement pattern of the lesion was similar to that of the adjacent normal liver *** above characteristics suggested that the lesion was hepatic ***,in this case,the lesion showed exogenous growth and was mass-like,with an obvious mass effect,which has not been reported *** Hepatic steatosis could grow exogenously and has an obvious mass *** needs to be distinguished from fat-rich *** T1-weighted in-and out-of-phase images and dynamic enhanced scanning are valuable for differential diagnosis of this lesion.

Whole-genome duplication(WGD) events are widespread across eukaryotes and have played a significant role in moulding the genetic architectures of diverse organisms. In the present study, the newly sequenced genome of a giant ciliated protist, Stentor roeselii, provides an opportunity for the analysis of the collinearity and retention of reciprocal best-hit genes between two Stentor species. As a main result, we have unveiled a previously undetected ancient WGD event shaping the genome of its congener, Stentor coeruleus, a model protist used in cytological and evolutionary studies. Genomes of two congeners, S. coeruleus and S. roeselii, are compared and analyzed, revealing that:(i)the former exhibits a much higher retention rate of colinear-gene pairs(28%) than does S. roeselii, and in S. coeruleus, 75% of genes that have a RBH hit in S. roeselii, have paralogs with high amino-acid identity, consistent with a WGD event in the lineage leading to S. coeruleus;(ii) the S. roeselii genome possesses extremely short intergenic regions, implying that the lengths of intergenic regions are under strong selection;(iii) the unique characteristics of introns may have been shaped in the common ancestor of heterotrichs;(iv) gene families that play a role in activities of multiple protein kinases and voltage-gated ion channels expanded rapidly in the ancestor of both taxa, possibly relating to the remarkable regenerative ability in Stentor. This study offers new insights into the evolutionary dynamics of ciliate genomes,with implications for understanding of the processes underlying the evolution of genomic complexity.

Kalman filtering problem for singular systems is dealt with, where the measurements consist of instantaneous measurements and delayed ones, and the plant includes multiplicative noise. By utilizing standard singular value decomposition, the restricted equivalent delayed system is presented, and the Kalman filters for the restricted equivalent system are given by using the well-known re-organization of innovation analysis lemma. The optimal Kalman filter for the original system is given based on the above Kalman filter by recursive Riccati equations, and a numerical example is presented to show the validity and efficiency of the proposed approach, where the comparison between the filter and predictor is also given. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation.

Copper element was added in pure titanium to produce a new biomedical titanium-copper alloy by laser powder bed fusion(LPBF).Addition of copper can eliminate the mismatch of high strength but poor duc-tility problem caused by lathα’martensite,which is the usual microstructure of nearαtitanium alloy fabricated by *** of by the usual trade-offrelationship between strength and ductility,which is a long-standing challenge for martensitic titanium alloys,in this study,we proposed a boundary engineer-ing strategy and aim to synergistically enhance the strength and ductility of martensitic titanium alloy fabricated by *** is hypothesized that whilst both low-angle and high-angle grain boundaries are beneficial to the strength,high-angle grain boundary can simultaneously improve the ductility of *** test this strategy,a Ti-5Cu(wt.%)alloy is selected to compare against pure titanium and Ti-6Al-4V at the same laser processing ***,TEM and XRD analysis show that the as-fabricated LPBF Ti-5Cu alloy is comprised of partially tempered martensite with extraordinarily high number density of both high-angle and low-angle grain boundaries as well as low dislocation *** microstructure enables a high tensile strength of 940-1020 MPa,which is at a similar level as LPBF Ti-6Al-4V,and an excellent elongation of 13%-16%,twice as much as that of LPBF *** mechanism of microstruc-ture refinement in LPBF Ti-5Cu at different levels from prior-βgrains,martensitic packets,blocks to laths is also discussed.

As a transparent avascular tissue located at the front of the eyeball, the cornea is an important barrier to external damage. Both epithelial and endothelial cells of the cornea harbor primary cilia, which sense changes in the external environment and regulate intracellular signaling pathways. Accumulating evidence suggests that the primary cilium regulates corneal development in several ways, including participation in corneal epithelial stratification and maintenance of corneal endothelial cell *** addition, the primary cilium has been implicated in the pathogenesis of several corneal diseases. In this review, we discuss recent findings that demonstrate the critical role of the primary cilium in corneal development. We also discuss the link between ciliary dysfunction and corneal diseases, which suggests that the primary cilium could be targeted to treat these diseases.
