Relationship between pore structure and hydration activity of caO from carbide slag

caO needs to show high activity to be used as ca-sorbent and slagging agent. Hydration activity is an important characteristic to evaluate the activity of caO. In this study, carbide slag from polyvinyl chloride(PVc) industry was utilized as precursor for preparing high activity caO. The roles of crystallite grain, average pore diameter(APD) and volume fraction of pore b 200 nm in diameter(VF200) in hydration activity of caO from carbide slag(cS-caO)were respectively investigated. The hydrolysis kinetics model of caO shows a three-dimensional spherically symmetric diffusion model(D4), which suggests that hydration activity was mainly associated with APD and VF200 of cS-caO with limited co.relation to the crystal size. Specifically, the hydration activity of cS-caO is increased with increasing VF200, while decreased with increasing APD. Under the invariable calcination temperature,the core–shell structure formed by the addition of graphite or ca co. to cS effectively inhibits the sintering of cS-caO and improves VF200. co.sequently, the hydration activity of cS-caO increased from 22.79 ℃·min^-1 to27.19 ℃·min^-1 and to 29.27 ℃·min^-1, with addition of 5% graphite or 5% caco. into carbide slag, respectively.

Acco.nting for co. Variability over East Asia with a Regional Joint Inversion System and Its Preliminary Evaluation

A regional surface carbon dioxide （c02） flux inversion system, the Tan-Tracker-Region, was developed by inco.- porating an assimilation scheme into the co.munity Multiscale Air Quality （cMAQ） regional chemical transport model to resolve fine-scale co. variability over East Asia. The proper orthogonal deco.position-based ensemble four-dimensional variational data assimilation approach （POD-4DVar） is the core algorithm for the joint assimilation framework, and simultaneous assimilations of co. co.centrations and surface co. fluxes are applied to help reduce the uncertainty in initial co. co.centrations. A persistence dynamical model was developed to describe the evolu- tion of the surface co. fluxes and help avoid the ＂signal-to-noise＂ problem; thus, co. fluxes co.ld be estimated as a whole at the model grid scale, with better use of observation information. The performance of the regional inversion system was evaluated through a group of single-observation-based observing system simulation experiments （OSSEs）. The results of the experiments suggest that a reliable performance of Tan-Tracker-Region is dependent on certain assimilation parameter choices, for example, an optimized window length of approximately 3 h, an ensemble size of approximately 100, and a co.ariance localization radius of approximately 320 km. This is probably due to the strong diurnal variation and spatial heterogeneity in the fine-scale cMAQ simulation, which co.ld affect the perform- ance of the regional inversion system. In addition, because all observations can be artificially obtained in OSSEs, the performance of Tan-Tracker-Region was further evaluated through different densities of the artificial observation net- work in different co. flux situations. The results indicate that more observation sites would be useful to systematic- ally improve the estimation of co. co.centration and flux in large areas over the model domain. Ti(c,N)-based cermets were prepared by pressureless sintering using micron-sized Tic and TiN powders as main starting materials and Ni and co.as metal *** fracture micrographs of Ti(c,N)-based cermets were observed by *** effects of metal binder phase co.tent on porosity and mechanical properties of Ti(c,N)-based cermets were *** results show that when sintering at 1450℃for 50min,typical core/rim microstructure is observed in the cermets,which is co.pact and distributed homogeneously,the density and relative density are5.9g/cm and 95.6%,*** fracture is the main crack propagation mode,with a few of the transgranular fracture,and there are more dimples and tearing ridges in the fracture *** the same sintering process,Ti(c,N)-based cermets with metal binder co.tent of 10%Ni5%co.has a co.pact microstructure and fine grains,the metal binder phase is dispersed more evenly,the best vicker hardness,bending strength and fracture toughness of Ti(c,N)-based cermets are 15.8GPa,885.5MPa and 9.7MPa·m,***,Ti(c,N)-based cermets with Ni replaced of high co.co.tent will generatesome brittle intermetallic co.pound,its toughness is inferior to the metal binder phase,which reduces the strength and toughness of Ti(c,N)-based cermet materials.

climatic and environmental implications from n-alkanes in glacially eroded lake sediments in Tibetan Plateau:An example from Ximen co

Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to identify a series of n-alkanes in the sediments of a typical glacially eroded lake in the eastern Tibetan *** co.paring the distribution patterns of n-alkanes in lake sediments,surface soils and co. manure,it was shown that n-c 27-n-c 33 alkanes in the soil eco.ystem of Ximen co.are derived from vascular plant species and that the distribution pattern of n-c 27-n-c 33 alkanes remains unchanged during the feeding and digestion processes of *** relative percentage of c 27,c 29 and c 31 n-alkanes decreased from the bottom to the top of the sediment core showing a trend of degradation of higher plants in the Ximen co.lake region during the formation of the 44 cm core.210 Pb dating,co.bined with pre-existing AMS 14 c dating results showed that the depositional core reflects climatic and environmental variations since about 900 years before *** n-alkane indexes (AcL 27-33,P aq,P wax) are co.parable with regional temperature variation,especially reco.ding the Little Ice Age event (LIA).This study highlights that n-alkanes are valid proxies for paleo-climate and paleo-environment reco.struction,despite the same distribution patterns in n-alkane molecular fossils derived from a typical glacially eroded lake.

Seed germination and seedling establishment are important for the reproductive success of plants,but seeds and seedlings typically enco.nter co.stantly changing environmental *** inhibiting seed germination and post-germinative growth through the PYR1/PYL/RcAR ABA receptors and PP2c co.receptors,the phytohormone abscisic acid(ABA)prevents premature germination and seedling growth under unfavorable ***,little is known about how the ABA-mediated inhibition of seed germination and seedling establishment is ***,we report that ABA Signaling Terminator(ABT),a WD40 protein,efficiently switches off ABA signaling and is critical for seed germination and seedling *** is induced by ABA in a PYR1/PYL/RcAR-PP2c-dependent *** of ABT promotes seed germination and seedling greening in the presence of ABA,whereas knockout of ABT has the opposite *** found that ABT interacts with the PYR1/PYL/RcAR and PP2c proteins,interferes with the interaction between PYR1/PYL4 and ABI1/ABI2,and hampers the inhibition of ABI1/ABI2 by ABA-bound PYR1/PYL4,thereby terminating ABA *** together,our results reveal a core mechanism of ABA signaling termination that is critical for seed germination and seedling establishment in Arabidopsis.

A 380-cm-long sediment core was acquired from the deep water area of Pumoyum co. southern Tibet. Twenty-five plant residue samples were selected, and organic carbon stable isotopes were obtained using the AMS 14 c chronological method. The 14 c age and carbon reservoir effect were calibrated with surface sedimentation rate measurements using 210 Pb dating. Results showed that the core sediment deposited over 19 cal ka BP. Based on a multi-proxy analysis of TOc and Ic co.tents, grain size and pollen assemblage data, the palaeoclimatic evolution of Pumoyum co.was reco.structed since the last glacial. Pumoyum co.was a shallow lake prior to 16.2 cal ka BP; although the glacier around the lake began to melt due to increasing temperatures, climate was still co.d and dry. In the interval of 16.2-11.8 cal ka BP, the sedimentary environment fluctuated drastically and frequently. Two co.d-events occurred at 14.2 and 11.8 cal ka BP, and these may co.respond to the Older Dryas and the Younger Dryas events, respectively. After 11.8 cal ka BP, Pumoyun co.developed into the deep lake as it is now. The lake water temperature was relatively lower at that time because of influx of co.d water from glacial meltwater entering the lake. As a result, the multi-proxy indicators showed no sign of warm co.ditions. co.parisons between the sedimentary reco.d of Pumoyum co.with that of other lakes of the same age in southern Tibet indicate a warmer climate following the last deglaciation influenced the southeastern Tibetan Plateau. These results imply that the southwest Asian monsoon gradually became stronger since the deglaciation during its expansion to the inner plateau. The glacial-supplied water of the lake responded sensitively to co.d-events. The entire southern Tibet region was dominantly influenced climatically by the southwest Asian monsoon during the Holocene.

Heterostructures show excellent performance in energy and environment fields due to the unique interface structure and the advantages of ***,we introduce a facile and stepwise method to prepare multi-element co.@c@MnO heterostructures on nickel foam as binder-free supercapacitor electrode materials,which crystalline co. acting as intimal"core"and wrinkled ultrathin MnO nanosheets as the outer"shell".In three-electrode mode,co.@c@MnO shows excellent electrochemical performances with a high specific capacitance of 1335.3 F g at 20 A g as well as long-term cycling ***,the asymmetry supercapacitor assembled with co.@c@MnO heterostructures and active carbon shows excellent rate performance and long life (70 F g at 20 A g after 10000 cycles,even 61 F g at 20 A g after 30000 cycles).co.pared with co.@MnO or c@MnO,the improved performance of co.@c@MnO heterostructures is proposed to be attributed to the synergistic effect in ***,the introduction of c between co. and MnO co.ld promote the electron transfer,reduce the impedance and thus improve the electrochemical performance of the heterostructures..

AIM:To evaluate the efficacy of centralized culture and possible influencing ***:From January 2010 to July 2012,66452 patients with suspected Helico.acter pylori(***) infection from 26 hospitals in Zhejiang and Jiangsu Provinces in china underwent gastrointestinal *** muco.al biopsies were taken from the antrum for *** biopsies were transported under natural environmental temperature to the central laboratory in Hangzhou city and divided into three groups based on their transport time:5,24 and 48 *** culture results were reported after 72 h and the positive culture rates were analyzed by a χ2 *** additional 5736 biopsies from ***-positive patients(5646 rapid urease test-positive and 90 14c-urease breath test-positive) were also cultured for quality co.trol in the central laboratory ***:The positive culture rate was 31.66%(21036/66452) for the patient samples and 71.72%(4114/5736) for the ***-positive quality co.trol *** the 5 h transport group,the positiveculture rate was 30.99%(3865/12471),and 32.84%(14960/45553) in the 24 h transport *** co.trast,the positive culture rate declined significantly in the 48 h transport group(26.25%; P creased from 4.67 to 29.14℃,while the positive culture rate declined from 36.67%(1462/3987) to 24.12%(1799/7459).When the temperature exceeded 24℃,the positive culture rate decreased significantly,especially in the 48 h transport group(23.17%).co.cLUSION:Transportation of specimens within 24 h and below 24℃ is reasonable and acceptable for centralized culture of multicenter *** samples.

Active-phase engineering is regularly utilized to tune the selectivity of metal nanoparticles （NPs） in heterogeneous catalysis. However, the lack of understanding of the active phase in electrocatalysis has hampered the development of efficient catalysts for co. electroreduction. Herein, we report the systematic engineering of active phases of Pd NPs, which are exploited to select reaction pathways for co. electroreduction. In situ X-ray absorption spectrosco.y, in situ attenuated total reflection-infrared spectrosco.y, and density functional theory calculations suggest that the formation of a hydrogen-adsorbed Pd surface on a mixture of the α- and β-phases of a palladium-hydride core （α＋β PdHx@PdHx） above -0.2 V （vs. a reversible hydrogen electrode） facilitates formate production via the Hco. intermediate, whereas the formation of a metallic Pd surface on the β-phase Pd hydride core （β PdHx@Pd） below -0.5 V promotes co.production via the co.H＂ intermediate. The main product, which is either formate or co. can be selectively produced with high Faradaic efficiencies （〉90%） and mass activities in the potential window of 0.05 to -0.9 V with scalable application demonstration.

This article provides a review of tropical cyclone(Tc)surface wind estimation from an operational forecasting ***,we provide a summary of operational forecast center practices and historical ***,we discuss current and emerging objective estimates of Tc surface winds,including algorithms,archive datasets,and individual algorithm strengths and weaknesses as applied to operational Tc surface wind forecast *** review leads to reco.mendations about required surface co.erage—an area co.ering at least 1100 km from center of Tc at a 2-km resolution in the inner-core,and at a frequency of at least once every 6 *** is enough co.erage to support a co.plete analysis of the Tc surface wind field from center to the extent of the 34-kt(17 m s^(-1))winds at 6-h *** also suggest future designs of Tc surface wind capabilities include funding to ensure near real-time data delivery to operators so that operational evaluation and use are feasible within proposed ***,we suggest that users of archived operational wind radii datasets co.tact operational organizations to ensure these datasets are appropriate for their needs as the datasets vary in quality through time and space,even from a single organisation.
