Objective:To formulate an efficacious radioprotective combination of Chinese medicines with minimal ***:Aqueous and alcoholic extracts from 38 traditional Chinese herbs were *** produce drugcontaining sera,rats received six doses of each extract via oral gavage at 12-h ***,human lung epithelial BEAS-2B cells were cultured in these drug-containing *** cell viability was assessed after different doses of irradiation to identify the radioprotective effects of Chinese herbal *** efficacy of a selected Chinese herbal extract combination was further confirmed through cell viability analysis via in vitro colony formation and survival rate assessments in C57BL/6 mice ***:Extracts from Angelicae Sinensis Radix(ASR;two extracts),Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium(CRP),Platycladi Cacumen(PC),Schisandrae chinensis Fructus(SF),Scutellariae Radix(SR),and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizome(GRR)demonstrated radioprotective *** combination of the seven Chinese herbal extracts notably increased the survival and viability of the BEAS-2B cells exposed to varying doses of ***,the group of mice receiving Chinese medicine combination and irradiation exhibited prolonged survival after exposure to 6.5 Gy Xrays with a median survival of(14=2)d compared to(11=2)d in the irradiated group without the herbal ***,the Chinese medicine combination group displayed a significantly higher 28 d survival rate(30%)compared to the irradiation-only group(16.6%,P<0.05).Conclusion:The novel combination of Chinese herbal extracts from ASR,CRP,PC,SF,SR,and GRR has the potential for radiation protection applications.

Enhancing the electrochemical performance of Na metal anodes via local eutectic melting in porous Al-Cu alloy hosts

Sodium(Na)metal batteries(SMBs)have emerged as promising alternatives to lithium metal batteries for large-scale energy storage applications,owing to their cost-effectiveness,abundance,and favorable redox ***,the practical implementation of SMBs faces several challenges associated with the Na metal anode,including the formation of dendrites,low Coulombic efficiency,and capacity ***,we propose a novel approach to enhance the electrochemical performance of Na metal anodes through a porous Al-Cu alloy host(PAC)fabricated by a local eutectic melting *** local eutectic melting facilitates the development of a conductive network,offering mechanical support,and the porous structure provides abundant channels for the diffusion of Na ions and accommodates volume fluctuations in the Na metal during charge–discharge ***,the PAC exhibits a high average Coulombic efficiency of 99.8%at 1 mA·cm^(−2)for 1 mAh·cm^(−2)and a low voltage polarization of 19 mV during 500 *** study provides valuable insight into the design and fabrication of highperformance Na metal anodes,which hold significant promise for the advancements of next-generation energy storage systems.

To the Editor:Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration(EUS-FNA)has replaced other high-risk invasive methods and has become the primary method of tissue collection around the gastrointestinal tract.^([1])To further improve the effectiveness and safety of EUS-FNA,pathologists may perform rapid on-site cytology evaluation(ROSE),but this process requires the presence of *** on-site evaluation(MOSE)has gained attention as it resolve the shortage of pathologist resources.^([2])Endoscopists can inspect the tissue core in real time and assess the adequacy of the punctured *** this study,we conducted a single-center and single-arm exploratory study to explore the value of MOSE in assessing specimen quality during magnifier-based EUS-FNA and to confirm the cut-off length of visible tissue core(VTC)for EUS-FNA to help endosonographers independently predict the adequacy of punctured *** VTC was defined as a white or incarnadine tissue core obtained from focal lesions with a relatively complete histological structure.

The development of stereodivergent synthetic methods to access all four stereoisomers of biologically importantα-fluoroγ-butyrolactones containing vicinal stereocenters is of great importance and poses a formidable challenge owing to ring strain and steric ***,a novel asymmetric[3+2]annulation ofα-fluoroα-azaaryl acetates with vinylethylene carbonate was successfully developed through Cu/Ir-catalyzed cascade allylic alkylation/lactonization,affording a variety of enantioenrichedα-fluoroγ-butyrolactones bearing vicinal stereogenic centers with high reaction efficiency and excellent levels of both stereoselectivity and regioselectivity(up to 98%yield,generally>20:1 dr and>99%ee).Notably,all four stereoisomers of these pharmaceutically valuable molecules could be accessed individually via simple permutations of two enantiomeric *** addition,other azaaryl acetates bearingα-methyl,α-chlorine orα-phenyl group were tolerated well in this *** mechanistic investigations were conducted to explore the process of this bimetallic catalysis based on the results of reaction intermediates,isotopic labelling experiments,and kinetic studies.

Developing wide-temperature and high-safety lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)presents significant challenges attributed to the absence of suitable solvents possessing broad liquid range and non-flammability properties.γ-Butyrolactone(GBL)has emerged as a promising solvent;however,its incompatibility with graphite anode has hindered its *** limitation necessitates a comprehensive investigation into the underlying mechanisms and potential *** this study,we achieve a molecular-level understanding of the perplexing interphase formation process by employing in-situ spectroelectrochemical techniques and density function *** findings reveal that,even at high salt concentrations,GBL consistently occupies the primary Li^(+)solvation sheath,leading to extensive GBL decomposition and the formation of a high-impedance and inorganic-poor solid-electrolyte interphase(SEI)*** to manipulating solvation structures,our research demonstrates that the utilization of filmforming additives with higher reduction potential facilitates the pre-establishment of a robust SEI film on the graphite *** approach effectively inhibits GBL decomposition and significantly enhances the battery's *** study provides the first reported intrinsic understanding of the unique GBLgraphite incompatibility and offers valuable insights for the development of wide-temperature and high-safety LIBs.
