Insect fecundity is a quantitative phenotype strongly affected by genotypes and the ***,interactions between genotypes and environmental factors in modulating insect fecundity remain largely *** study investigated the im-pact of population density on the fecundity of Nilaparvata lugens(brown planthopper;BPH)carrying homozygous high-(HFG)or low-(LFG)fecundity homozygous *** low population densities,the fecundity and population growth rate of both genotypes showed similar increasing trends across generations,while the trends between HFG and LFG under high population densities were *** a combination of temporal analysis and weighted gene co-expression network analyses on RNA-seq data of HFG and LFG under low and high population densities in the lst,3rd,and 5th gener-ations,we identified 2 gene modules that were associated with these density-dependent progenitive *** pathways related to the neural system were simultaneously enriched by the 2 gene ***,Nlpale,which encodes a tyrosine hydroxy-lase,was identified as a key *** RNA interference of this gene and manipulation of its downstream product dopamine significantly affected the basic and density-dependent progenitive phenotypes of *** findings indicated that dopamine biosynthesis is the key regulatory factor that determines fecundity in response to density changes in dif-ferent BPH ***,this study provides insights into the interaction of a typical environmental factor and insect genotype during the process of population regulation.

This study investigates the possible causes for the precipitation of guangdong during dragon-boat rain period(DBRP) in 2022 that is remarkably more than the climate state and reviews the successes and failures of the prediction in2022. Features of atmospheric circulation and sea surface temperature(SST) are analyzed based on several observational datasets for nearly 60 years from meteorological stations and the NCEP/NCAR Global Reanalysis data. Results show that fluctuation of the 200-h Pa westerly wind as well as the westerly jet is strengthened due to the propagation of wave energy, leading to strong updraft over southern China. Activities of a subtropical high and a shear line provide favorable conditions for the transport of moisture to guangdong. With the support of powerful southwest winds, extreme precipitation is induced. ENSO is a good indicator of atmospheric circulation at mid-and high-levels during the DBRP in2022 but it performs badly at low levels. During recent years, the influence of ENSO on precipitation during the DBRP has decreased obviously. The SSTA of tropical southeast Atlantic(SEA) in spring may become the key indicator. During the years with warm SEA, wave trains propagate from northwest to southeast over Eurasia with energy enhancing the westerly jet, conducive to updraft over southern China and the occurrence of heavy precipitation. Meanwhile, the Rossby wave is triggered over Maritime Continent by heat sources of southern Atlantic-western Indian Ocean through the Gill response. Thus, strong transport of moisture and heavy rainfall occur.

Expansion and adaptive evolution of the WRKY transcription factor family in Avicennia mangrove trees

Safety and Immunogenicity of SARS-CoV-2 Vaccines in People Living With HIV:A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Real-World Studies

The safety and immunogenicity of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)vaccines in people living with HIV(PLWH)in real-world studies remain ***,we conducted a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis to address this *** search were conducted from PubMed,Web of Science and *** events following vaccination,the risk ratio(RR)of SARS-CoV-2–specific IgG seroconversion and the level of anti–SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies were compared between the PLWH group and a healthy control group.A total of 10,582 PLWH from 22 studies were *** our analysis,the incidence of local or systemic adverse events after the first SARS-CoV-2 vaccine dose was not statistically different between PLWH and healthy ***,there was a statistical difference after the second dose(RR,0.83;95%CI,0.71–0.98).The seroconversion rate of SARS-CoV-2 IgGantibodies in PLWH was significantly lower than that in the healthy control group(RR,0.94;95%CI,0.89–0.98;I2=80%,P<0.01).The anti–SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibody titers in PLWH after full immunization were also significantly lower than those in the healthy control group(RR,0.91;95%CI,0.85–0.98;I2=81%,P<0.01).The safety and tolerance of COVID-19 vaccines in PLWHare ***,their immunogenicitymay be impaired to a certain extent,characterized by a lower IgGseroconversion rate and neutralizing antibody titers compared with healthy *** findings should provide guidance for optimizing future COVID-19 vaccination strategies among PLWH.

With the discovery of the pivotal role of macrophages in tissue regeneration through shaping the tissue immune microenvironment, various immunomodulatory strategies have been proposed to modify traditional biomaterials. Decellularized extracellular matrix (dECM) has been extensively used in the clinical treatment of tissue injury due to its favorable biocompatibility and similarity to the native tissue environment. However, most reported decellularization protocols may cause damage to the native structure of dECM, which undermines its inherent advantages and potential clinical applications. Here, we introduce a mechanically tunable dECM prepared by optimizing the freeze-thaw cycles. We demonstrated that the alteration in micromechanical properties of dECM resulting from the cyclic freeze-thaw process contributes to distinct macrophage-mediated host immune responses to the materials, which are recently recognized to play a pivotal role in determining the outcome of tissue regeneration. Our sequencing data further revealed that the immunomodulatory effect of dECM was induced via the mechnotrasduction pathways in macrophages. Next, we tested the dECM in a rat skin injury model and found an enhanced micromechanical property of dECM achieved with three freeze-thaw cycles significantly promoted the M2 polarization of macrophages, leading to superior wound healing. These findings suggest that the immunomodulatory property of dECM can be efficiently manipulated by tailoring its inherent micromechanical properties during the decellularization process. Therefore, our mechanics-immunomodulation-based strategy provides new insights into the development of advanced biomaterials for wound healing.

Satellite-observed significant improvement in nearshore transparency of the Bohai Sea during pollution control

The Bohai Sea(BS)is the unique semi-closed inland sea of China,characterized by degraded water quality due to significant terrestrial pollution *** order to improve its water quality,a dedicated action named“Uphill Battles for Integrated Bohai Sea Management”(UBIBSM,2018–2020)was implemented by the Chinese *** evaluate the action effectiveness toward water quality improvement,variability of the satelliteobserved water transparency(Secchi disk depth,Z_(SD))was explored,with special emphasis on the nearshore waters(within 20 km from the coastline)prone to terrestrial influence.(1)Compared to the status before the action began(2011–2017),majority(87.3%)of the nearshore waters turned clear during the action implementation period(2018–2020),characterized by the elevated Z_(SD)by 11.6%±12.1%.(2)Nevertheless,the improvement was not spatially uniform,with higher Z_(SD)improvement in provinces of Hebei,Liaoning,and Shandong(13.2%±16.5%,13.2%±11.6%,10.8%±10.2%,respectively)followed by Tianjin(6.2%±4.7%).(3)Bayesian trend analysis found the abrupt Z_(SD)improvement in April 2018,which coincided with the initiation of UBIBSM,implying the water quality response to pollution *** importantly,the independent statistics of land-based pollutant discharge also indicated that the significant reduction of terrestrial pollutant input during the UBIBSM action was the main driver of observed Z_(SD)improvement.(4)Compared with previous pollution control actions in the BS,UBIBSM was found to be the most successful one during the past 20 years,in terms of transparency improvement over nearshore *** presented results proved the UBIBSM-achieved remarkable water quality improvement,taking the advantage of long-term consistent and objective data record from satellite ocean color observation.

The combination of visual and textual information in image retrieval remarkably alleviates the semantic gap of traditional image retrieval methods,and thus it has attracted much attention *** retrieval based on such a combination is usually called the content-and-text based image retrieval(CTBIR).Nevertheless,existing studies in CTBIR mainly make efforts on improving the retrieval *** the best of our knowledge,little attention has been focused on how to enhance the retrieval ***,image data is widespread and expanding rapidly in our daily ***,it is important and interesting to investigate the retrieval *** this end,this paper presents an efficient image retrieval method named CATIRI(content-and-text based image retrieval using indexing).CATIRI follows a three-phase solution framework that develops a new indexing structure called *** MHIM-tree seamlessly integrates several elements including Manhattan Hashing,Inverted index,and *** use our MHIM-tree wisely in the query,we present a set of important metrics and reveal their inherent *** on them,we develop a top-k query algorithm for *** results based on benchmark image datasets demonstrate that CATIRI outperforms the competitors by an order of magnitude.

The dynamic population distributions by activity type(***,shopping or in-home)are vital for resource allocation,urban planning and epidemic *** studies have incorporated individual-level human mobility data to map population distribution by activity type,access to such data is hindered due to privacy issues and they rely on auxiliary data to provide priori activity *** paper presents a method for generating the population dynamics by activity *** first introduce more readily available sequential snapshot data to construct the population mixture model,then decompose the population mixture,and finally estimate the dynamic population size for each *** test the method in the central districts of Guangzhou city,China,based on real-time Tencent user density *** analysis and accuracy assessment prove that our method can accurately estimate hourly distributions for populations engaging in working,stay-at-home,and socializing *** temporal distribution of the working population reproduces the regular work scenarios and socializing population displays complex spatial *** also find that there is an underlying relationship between a region’s function and its dynamic population *** presented method has great potential for application and could provide new insight for studying urban dynamic functions.
